Let's see this already. Nobody will fight Margarito, and he hasn't had a chance to shine against a great fighter. I personally don't think he could hit Floyd enough to beat him, but you never can tell. Margarito does deserve the fight, and I hope he gets it. If he doesn't, he should set his sights on Shane Mosley, a man that ducks no one. Shane gave Winky his first big-time fight, and also fought Vernon Forrest, knowing it would not be a fight near the magnitude of his bout with De La Hoya, and that while he had little to gain, he had much to lose. There are some big fights out there for Margarito, so if the Mayweather plans fizzle, why not move to 154 to fight Karmazin, Mayorga, Quartey, Vargas, or Ouma. I see great fights in a couple of those matchups, if not all of them. The point is, if Mayweather won't fight him, he needs to look for the next toughest fight, not fight Tijuana taxi drivers like he has done from time to time. Believe me, Margarito-Ouma or a number of other fights would give Antonio ample opportunity to rise from obscurity. While he is a very tough and dangerous fighter, Margarito, in my opinion, is not the man to dethrone Pretty Boy. Like I said, if that doesn't pan out, there are plenty of other options. While a bout with Mayweather would be the biggest payday, a fight with another slugger would be the most enjoyable to watch. See the above options...

I think people on both sides of the argument are selling the other guy short. This fight could go either way. I have a lot of respect for Calzaghe, and enjoy watching him fight; however, I'm not a big fan. I am a fan of B-Hop, and a month ago, I would've said Joe would win. I thought Tarver would win a decision over the Executioner, and was shocked at the utter domination Hopkins showed. I thought he'd be undersized, but he actually looked bigger than the natural Light Heavyweight. I couldn't blame Bernard for retiring at this point, and going out on top, but I really want to see this fight. I agree with Scap that Calzaghe is probably by far the most active fighter that Hopkins could possibly fight, and that it would be a great challenge. Hopkins looked great at Light Heavyweight, though, and I think he would be excellent at 168, as well. I underestimated B-Hop, and he proved me wrong. I feel as though I underestimated Calzaghe as much in his bout with Lacy. Even though I've always thought Joe was a great fighter,I thought Lacy's youth and power would be too much for him. I was way off on both fights, and I think this one could go either way. I would be cheering for Bernard, but it would take another world class effort on his part to beat the Calzaghe that dismantled Lacy. However, if the Calzaghe that struggled in defenses against lesser fighters showed up, he'd be in trouble. This is a dream fight, and I really, really hope it happens. Ricky Hatton looked very vulnerable against a highly underrated Collazo, and I think Floyd would beat him; therefore, I agree that this could be a fight with higher anticipation for the fans. Even though I really want it to happen, Hopkins has been planning his retirement, and what a way to go out.

This is a fight to be excited about, if you are a Wlad fan. Wladimir will crush Briggs with his combonations and swell his face up with stiff jabs. Briggs will definitely not see the final bell. Briggs is big, and that's all. I agree that Wlad's a far superior fighter, but Briggs has some power, and there's always that decent chance that Briggs could catch him, which would spell disaster for Wlad. I would love to see Briggs KO him, and with Wlad, it's always a possibility. Briggs is nowhere near the defensive fighter that Byrd is, but he packs a much more powerful punch. I wouldn't totally write off Briggs pulling the upset...

Very good commentary, IMO... Diegofuego...how can ANYONE score it 115-113? HOW THE FCUK DID TAYLOR WIN 7 ROUNDS. I could see a draw because there were tossup rounds, but IMO i had it 116-112 Wright. I had it 114-114, but I gave Winky a couple rounds that could've gone either way. I could easily see someone having it 115-113 for either guy, or even 116-112 for either fighter... anything beyond that is ridiculous. Think about it, there were at least 4 rounds that could've gone either way. If you gave 2 to Winky, and 2 to Taylor, you've got a draw. If you gave 3 to Taylor, 115-113, and obviously all 4 to Wright, 116-112. No one is really wrong in their opinion, but you can't expect people to all judge those very close rounds exactly the same. I would love to see 15 round championship bouts return, but I fear that boxers would just take more time off between fights, so there will always be pros and cons for both sides of the argument.

Lampley's got my dream job, and overall, I think he does pretty good. They do have to push their fighters, but they generally do it with class. Sean O'Grady is by far my favorite broadcaster, though. He was a former champ, and he tells it like it is. I had the fight as a draw, but if I had to pick, I would've said Taylor won the fight. (And I was for Winky, and had money on him with several people). There were some rounds that had a clear winner, but many of the rounds were very close. I don't think anyone can honestly say either guy was robbed. It was a great fight, so they need to just do it again. I thought Winky stole a couple rounds, or I would've had Taylor 116-112. Like I said, a rematch is the only way to settle this...

ejk got the point, until I see the presser, this is just theorising. I agree with that, but boards like this wouldn't exist without speculation. A big portion of this sport is based on speculation. You can only talk about fights that are signed or completed so much... Unfortunately, we (the fans) don't get to put the fights together, so forums like these allow us to at least dream of them.

I do agree with the statement that he didn't give away the fight in the last round. As a matter of fact, I had Taylor up a point going into the final round, and gave the last round to Winky. There were a lot of close rounds, so I can understand the differences in opinion. I was for Winky, and had several bets on him, so I am far from prejudiced. I thought Taylor fought a great fight, and I thought he showed a lot of class. I lost a lot of respect for Winky, because I don't think either man could honestly say they were robbed. That being said, I hope they do fight again, as I was surprised by the high-action bout. However, this time, I will be cheering for "Bad Intentions", and that's where my money will be. Winky Wright is a great fighter, and I was really upset with the way he handled himself after the fight. I think Taylor has a long, illustrious, and very successful career ahead of him, and he has gained my respect.

I don't think Aiken was in danger of dying, first of all. Corrales is the definition of "warrior". He's been knocked down many times, and only failed to beat the count one time, by a split second at that. Diego wasn't trying to put Aiken on blast. That's just the way he looks at it. He's not a play by play announcer or a color commentator. He's a warrior, and that's what you would expect to hear from a warrior's mouth. I don't think he was being too hard on Aiken at all. Aiken was a world champion, and if I had a belt, I'd go out swingin' for the fences. Will Eric Aiken ever hold a major belt again? I doubt it. Corrales will continue to fight huge fights for a few more years. So I think you all are being too hard on Chico, if anything. He was asked to come by the announce booth to promote next month's fight, and he gave his opinion... that's all it was.

you guys have no idea how sympathetic I am right now. we all had the same reactions to this and none of us are HUGE Toney fans (I don't think?) I love Toney, but until lately haven't heard many of you praising him 24/7 or anything. But this is just beyond low. I don't want to be a quitter, but boxing is pushing it at this point. I'm considering following Mayweather, Taylor, and Corrales and saying to hell with the rest of the sport. I feel ya, man. I've been a Toney fan for a long time. It sucks... the sport drives us all crazy. My boy Quartey just lost a close decision that I thought he won. Toney got robbed. Watching Gatti get hammered by Baldomir killed me, but hopefully Arturo will know when to call it quits. Watching Lacy get destroyed by Calzaghe was rough, too. I was fired up for Corrales-Castillo III, and we all saw Castillo try to pull another fast one... the list goes on and on. I think Diego can beat Casamayor again, but I hope to God he can KO him, because I never count on a fair decision from the judges. But on the other hand, Mosley has gotten his career back on track. Pacquiao-Morales III and Barrera-Juarez II are coming up. There are also a lot of up and comers out there making waves. While some of my favorite fighters are losing, or getting screwed, a few are thriving. You watch a lot of boxing, as do I. I've found myself following guys like Robert Guerrero, who has looked great since his only professional loss, avenging that loss, and winning a major belt in very impressive fashion. Paul Williams has really impressed me. I've seen him several times, and I've been impressed more and more with each showing, particularly his pummeling of Sharmba Mitchell. I've also found myself cheering for Joel Julio, who recently lost to a very good fighter in Quintana, but will be a champion in a few years. I hope "Lights Out" has a few more good fights in him, but you've just got to find some other guys to follow almost religiously. Because for every bad thing that happens, generally something good will happen. Boxing's a rough sport, but it needs fans like us that get pissed, and say, "Fuck boxing", from time to time. I know you're a big Corrales fan, and hopefully next month, we'll be rubbing in a Chico victory to the people who say, "Casamayor should be undefeated"... further proof some people just don't know shit about boxing. I told my girl the exact same thing at the end. This is not like Hatton-Collazo or Barrera-Juarez or Taylor-Wright from this year. This was a robbery. Let's screw him, and he'll have to retire...", and so on. This is a conspiracy. It's got to be. The bout with Rahman was close. I had it as a draw, but Rock could've easily won. I had Barrera winning over Juarez by 2, but it could've easily gone either way. I had Wright-Taylor as a draw, and had money on Winky. I thought if it had to go to one or the other, it would've gone to Taylor, and I lost all respect for Winky after the fight. I had Quartey over Forrest, and I thought Ike got screwed slightly, but it was at least close. This fight tonight was not close by any means. Toney controlled the entire fight. Peter won a couple rounds convincingly, but he only landed 10-12 clean, hard shots the entire fucking fight. The judges must've been oohing and ahhinh over shots to the shoulders, arms, the back of the head, etc. Did they take the point from the wrong guy? WHAT THE FUCK???!!! I am glad to see the people who know boxing are in agreement with me. It restores a little faith in the sport to me. Unfortunately, we aren't influential members of the boxing community. Too many people can be bought in the fight business, and too many people let outside factors influence their cards. Please get judges that care about the sport, and have ethics. im a huge toney fan, and i admit that he didnt dominate tonight and at times he let peter look like he was controlling the fight. i still had him winning 115-113, but there were rounds where peter landed some big shots that seemed to have toney reeling a bit. heres my round by round breakdown 1- 10-9 toney wins the round 2 - 20/18 toney 3 - 29/28 peter 4 - 39/37 toney 5 - 48/47 peter 6 - 58/56 toney 7 - 68/65 toney 8 - 77/75 peter 9 - 87/84 toney 10 - 96/94 peter 11 - 106/103 toney 12 - 115/113 peter toney takes the close decision. its unbelievable that anyone could have it 116-111 for peter How in the hell did you give Peter the last round? Oh yeah, where's the point deduction? You didn't even take off the point for the double rabbit punch. Other than that, my card matches yours. Your card should be 115-112, with the point deduction. I thought Toney won the last round rather easily, so I've got 116-111. That's not close.

It's obvious who knows shit about boxing, and who doesn't. I won't even waste my time arguing with anyone that said it was close, or especially anyone that had Peter winning. First off, it doesn't matter how "busy" you are if you miss nine out of ten times. Toney landed 4 or 5 solid, clean shots to Peter's one, and that ratio's generous for Peter. If one guy lands two big shots, and the other lands five nice 1-2 combos, who gets the round? If you say the 2 big shots wins the round, then obviously you can get a license to judge, but you're a fucking moron, just like these 2 crooked-ass judges tonight, but you're WRONG. If you're new to the sport, then learn more before posting. However, if you're not new to the sport, do some research, and think twice before posting, because you've just proven that you don't know shit.

First off, Tyson is out of the game, finally, and I don't want another Tyson in the sport. However, Peter is in no way anything like Tyson. Although I don't like Tyson, in his earlier years, he showed a lot of skill. He could move... His punches were quick... and he was dominant. Peter's punches are powerful, but they're just plain ugly and inaccurate. He has no footwork, and he's nowhere near the skill level of Iron Mike. Toney won the fight, and he won it by a wide margin. Obviously, 7 people on here either didn't watch the fight, or know absolutely nothing about the sport.
