Pac weighed in officially @128.5 (although he mentioned in an interview that he was really 127.5 that night). He's on the driver's seat right now, why give Morales the advantage who clearly tricked him in the first fight?
If Morales cannot fight in a legit weight class, then he should seriously consider retirement.
I LIKE YOUR AVATAR BRO! NO FERA...HA HA HA HA! :D
WTF IS THIS POLL & THREAD ALL ABOUT? SOMEONE'S OBVIOUSLY LIVING IN THE PAST... AND CAN'T GET OVER IT! :p

NICE THREAD! GOOD KARMA FOR YOU! ;)
I enjoyed BOZO NO NO's thread showing Funny Pics of the audience
who watched "The Battle" live (http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60432&page=1&pp=10). Now I am sure everybody wants to know, myself included, who are the Boxers and Celebs who actually watched the fight live in LV. If you know, just post it here so that the others would know! Post the Name of the Boxer or Celeb, and post who you think they were rooting for that evening! Ready, Set, Fire! :)
FLOYD MAYWEATHER - ROOTING FOR THE PACMAN!
It was officially a draw so let's leave it that way. Look at where both fighters now. Where is pac right now and how much did he receive in his last fight? Where is marquez now and how much did he receive in his last fight? Do we still hear news about manny? Do we still hear news about marquez?
Who do you think is more in demand now as a fighter?
Let's hope that their rematch happen next year or maybe next next year. It will once and for all settle all issues re this debate of who really won the first fight. I hope nacho will agree this time that his fighter will be receiving less for this rematch in terms of purse.
Amen! You couldn't have put it any better, Prof! but just to add...
This topic is history that was not and can never be resolved by looking at what happened then. It is best resolved by what happened next, and as the prof put it, what's happening to them now. If you ask me about their first fight, to hell with the technicalities and scorecards. For me, what is importanet is the impression that each boxer left in everyone's mind. Which impression had the lasting effect and had more impact. Is it the "great" boxing skills of JMM (ho-humm...) or the three, 1st round knockdowns inflicted by Pac on the otherwise "invincible JMM" that everyone avoided? After the fight, who did the fight fans wanted to see again? After the fight, JMM did not knock out (or even fight)any worthy opponent anymore, until his pathetic loss to Chris John. After the fight, JMM was never the same again. After the fight, PAC just got better and better. It was a pity the rematch did not happen to put a solid stop to the issue, but for me that was the turning point in PAC's carreer, as he never looked back again. PAC-JMM 2 is something i'd like to see happening soon. Not that I think it's gonna be a mega fight, but to just settle the score once and for all.
I don't think Pac-JMM would happen just yet. here's what I think would happen:
EM saw the fight I'm sure and here's another chance to redeem himself yet again. He would try to get a fight with JMM and try to regain his throne again!
If the promoters grab this opportunity, then a PAC-MAB would be the only next best thing for PAC & MAB and would probably go for the much awaited rematch.
I don't know if there's a rematch clause in MAB-JMM 1 but if there's one, we should see a MAB-JMM 2 and if MAB wins, a trilogy would ensue!
As I see it, the boxing world as of this point in time only revolves around PAC & the 3 M's. Coz that's where the money is, period. - just my thoughts! PEACE!
Ponce de leon claimed he hurt his hand after the 9th round and just avoided gerry for the last 3 rounds. PDL knew he did not win as convincing as what the idiot judges wrote, so he also said he is open for a rematch. And this this time he would be more careful he said! Why would a Champion who just beat a small guy want to fight him again? Only if he was unsure with the outcome...as we are! peace
Morales should fight Marquez....he always wins against opponents Barrera couldn't take. :biggthump
NICE ANALOGY, CHUPs! PERO DAPAT YATA ALISIN MO NA YUNG BANDANA NI JMM DYAN SA SIG MO! AHAHAHAHA!
em would fight david diaz for the wbc lightweight crown this year.
NOT IF HE CAN GET A CRACK AT JMM. THIS FIGHT WOULD MEAN MORE TO HIM. UNLESS HE CAN NO LONGER MAKE 130 REALLY....:nonono:
Yap, and that makes him the avoiding one.
I agree. But I also think that after PACMAN would have fought all of Erik, MAB and JMM, I think the 3M's have no choice but face each other if they want a big payday.
P.S.> (just on the lighter side)I like your forum name, it sounds like PecPec, which I am sure Filipinos in this forum know very much, right guys?
Z Gorres is suppose to be on teh undercard as well. Woulnd't mind to see his brother Bobby in action also.
I have read that many times as well. ATTENTION: MR. MURAD MUHAMMAD!!! Keep your promise (as if he is good at it...)
We want to see "The DREAM" up there. We want to see other Filipinos other than PACMAN showoff their wares out there!
Wait, so Vasquez going up or Marquez going down?
Based on the article on the Boxingscene mainpage, Marquez will go down to 122. Man, not only did he chicken out from Pacman; he now wants small guys! And prove what?
Maybe you mean fight the LOSER of the Pacman/Morales fight. Whoever wins here may end up the best in this division, and JMM is not worthy to fight him. Not after he chickened out of the break of his life ! (When do you think he will get another $750,000 fight or offer? Well, in his next life maybe...
I am a Morales fan and I have watched all of his great fights and definitely, he is one of the best in the world today. His losses to MAB are both close and could have gone either way and are in no way devastating. So even if he loses, he could still command good fights, e.g. vs. Pacman again, vs. JMM, vs. Larios, vs.Randy Suico, or move up to lightweight (not his best option though). But please no more MAB 4.
Having said that though, I am also a BIG fan of the Pacman, because not only he is on his peak right now, not only he is one of the best p4p in the world right now, he is also of the most exciting to watch right now. Even if he loses, many would still love to see him again, because I don't think he will lose without beating the other guy first. I would love to see him vs. MAB 2, JMM 2, or even EM 2.
As for this upcoming epic, I would pick the Pacman inside 4 rounds. If it goes beyond that, EM may turn the tables via a majority or split decision.
To say that this is reeeaaaally PATHETIC is an understatement. JMM turned down a $750,000 purse to fight Pacman in what could be the defining fight of his career - wherein if he loses and retires, he has enough money to start another career; wherein if he loses and not retire, could still fight some worthy opponents and still make decent money (barrera, morales, tapia, larios.); wherein if he wins could make more in his next fight (vs. morales or barrera or vs pacman2)> to instead fight Vasquez who I think happens to be the sparring mate of Pacquiao in his preparation for the Barrera (or Lucero?) fight two years ago, before becoming the superbantam champ himself. If I were JMM, whatever money he will make on his Vasquez fight, I will earmark maybe $5 to $ 10 K to hire a killer to shoot my manager and my promoter who handled the Pacman deal(It's a joke, ok?). On the other hand, JMM may not be able to afford it, coz he would surely get peanuts for this fight, which is what chikens deserve!
This is tough and very subjective. If I go by the poll list, excluding "someone else", I'd say Wilfredo Gomez. He knocked out all his foes prior to being stopped by Sanchez. But if you look at the poll results, 75% says "someone else" and I agree. For me, Pacman should be there.
Carlos Zarate Has To Up There. P4p
Carlos Zarate - WBC Bantamweight champion
Carlos Zarate was a spectacular puncher who relentlessly stalked his opponents with stunning efficiency. His dominance of the 118lbs division was absolute, easily making him one of the greatest Bantamweights of all-time.
Zarate was born in Mexico on 23-5-1951. Carlos quickly turned professional at eighteen and run of a incredible 18 straight kayos before going the distance for the first time. Another 15 kayos later Zarate challenge crafty Rodolfo Martinez for the WBC crown. The champion started strongly but was decked in the fifth and battered until being kayoed in the ninth by a vicious right uppercut. Three easy kayo defences followed before Carlos embarked on the biggest fight of his career against undefeated WBA champion Alfonso Zamora in a non-title bout.
Zamora was a tremendous puncher with an awesome 29-0 (29) record including a crushing two round kayo of future featherweight great Eusebio Pedroza. Politics prevented Zarate-Zamora being a unification match but it turned into Carlos's greatest performance. Zamora took the first as he shook Zarate with a mighty left hook but Carlos took complete control with vicious hooks and uppercuts from both hands to floor Zamora twice in the third and finish him off in the fourth with a venomous combination.
Zarate made five further kayo defences after his clinical dismissal of Zamora including a eight round stoppage of future champ Alberto Davila before moving up to face the superlative Wilfredo Gomez at Super-bantamweight. Gomez with a thunderous puncher who would eventually make 17 defenses of his crown (all by kayo) before winning feather and super-featherweight belts. Zarate fought well over the first three rounds but was caught in the fourth and hit the canvas three times before being stopped in the fifth.
Zarate returned from that loss with a easy three round kayo over Mensah Kpalongo for his ninth successful defence before taking on the teak tough Lupe Pintor. Zarate started strongly sweeping the early rounds even putting the iron-chinned Pintor down before the tough challenger came on to take the latter rounds of a hard fifteen rounder. At the end of the contest Pintor took a controversial decision which angered Zarate so much he retired from the sport in 1979.
He returned as a super-bantamweight in 1986 with twelve wins which got him a shot at the rugged Jeff Fenech. In a foul filled brawl which ended in a four round technical decision in favor of the champion. A final title shot against the resolute Daniel Zaragoza ended in a one-sided tenth round loss which prompted Zarate to retire for good.
Total fights: 65, Wins 61, Losses 4, Draws 0 (58). about 90% ko percentage in 65 fights.
The Zamora-Zarate fight sounds exciting, know where I could get a copy of this fight on DVD? Appreciate it.
There is no such thing as an unknockoutable fighter. Every boxer can and probably, will eventually get knocked out. it's the nature of the sport.
It's about who has the least favorable conditions to get knocked out.
I agree.
But in relative terms, one of the hardest to knockout these days is Nedal Hussein. I saw him got hit hard a lot by Pacman and Larios and not even see a change in his facial expression or even a small trembling of knees! If this guy could only improve his boxing skills, he will be tough to beat.
My all time favorites were Salvador Sanchez (for dumping Wilfredo Gomez in his prime and Azumah Nelson in his youth) and Aaron Pryor (for trashing the great Alexis Arguello twice)
My favorites now are Pacman, Felix, and Tzyu :) ;) :p
I, too, believe that Winky is not in Tito's class. Yes, Winky made his mark by "outpointing" and "outboxing" Sugar Shane. But not by dominating and beating him. I think even Mayorga and Forrest would be too much for Winky, how much more with Tito? I believe this would be Winky's biggest test, and he fails, he will never recover again. On the other hand, if Tito loses, his retirement should then be for good.
P.S. Whatcha think about FORREST vs. TRINIDAD after Winky? I'd sure like to see that. Even thought Forrest went down vs Mayorga twice and Mayorga got beaten by Tito, this should be a great match! And if Tito wins this, a rematch vs. HOPKINS would be in order.
Yeah but he lasted 4 rounds less.
Im not saying PBF will surely beat DLH or he's favored to win but he's chance is greater than what you're insinuating.
Bro, marami ka nakalabas na points, daming kawatan d2 di ba? I banko mo na siguro. Wala lang...
I don't think PBF could and would slug it out with DLH, so it will be a "catch me if you can" defensive game for Floyd, with DLH having also the height advantage. But if DLH catches him, it would be over by KO. If not and he counters effectively, PBF by SD. Just my opinion. :o
Looking at the fights before he fought Pacman, I'd say that he is really good and sharp. But after the Pacman sent him 3x in 3 mins and broke his nose and re-arranged his face that night, I don't think he is the same Marquez anymore. I am (and a lot of others are) very upset on how he fought against Salido. If he was fighting Pac, EM or Barrera that night, he will probably go out in stretchers. So I'd say MAB and EM are both better (still) than JMM for now.
By just reading all these posts, whether they make sense or not, already gives me the answer why this fight is the most hyped up- EVER! Everyone is soooo passionate about the fight, the boxers, and everything that has anything to do with it. Peace!
And did anyone see how un-sportsmanlike Jeff Fenech was too? Throwing plastic bottles to the crowd? He was lucky the crowd were not as violent as he was, otherwise, he would have been KO'd himself.
For what holding? You said it your self, he was being thrown aroudn like a rag doll so obviously the holding never held. You'd actually dq a guy for holding over a guy who elbows, tackles, hits after the break? Pfffff Come on man, come off it. I'm really starting to think you never even saw the fight. It's like you have a personal agenda gainst this guy....Again, NO WAY IN THIS FUCKING LIFETIME Nedal was ahead on points. And if you think this was worse than Chavez-Whitaker, lol then ok. Just shows me how much you know.
This is confirmed bro. Nedal was brought in by murad, his new fight promoter. I think this is a free advertisement for nedal sparring with an elite fighter. As to whether nedal will punish pac or vice versa, well, we will find out soon. Ain't we? Good luck to nedal. Hope that pac is not mad at him anymore for all the dirty tactics he used during their fight because if pac is still mad, then we may be soon hearing a bad news about a pac sparring parter being taken to a hospital. :D
Brown bomber, just gave you a good karma. :)
If this is true, I hope neither Nedal nor Pac gets too excited or too careless. Accidents could happen and I don't want to see PAc-Erik fight go down the drain because of freak accident! Nedal can be very dangerous and Pac can be careless. We all know that. So Roach should be in total control of the sparring sessions and should be quick to intervene if things go out of hand. There is bad blood between these two fighters and either one might just want to get one over the other. :boxing:
