If he gets beat by Pacquiao, then he will no longer be a big draw because he also lost to MAB decisively. MAB will no longer give him part 4.
If Morales moves up in weight, then top fighters in that division may not want to fight him because they'll be degraded if they lose to Morales who has been exposed in the lower division.
Morales may end up just another expensive version of JMM.
Morales is an experienced fighter and has seen many different styles. he is not going to have any problem fighting a one dimensional fighter like manny. manny beat mab on a bad night and now the philipines is ready to crown him #1 pound 4 pound. a rematch would have proved that, but now he is going to face morales and will be exposed.
Morales will be the one exposed here. He's been beaten twice by the only pound 4 pound (MAB) he fought. Pacman is the only second p4p he will meet. EM is thinking he can resurrect his career by beating Pacman. A dangerous move for EM. But Arum thinks this is the only way for EM.
Very bad for EM coz he's hitting the canvas worse than MAB.

I keep hearing "Morales knows how to box".
Against the current version of Pacquiao everybody has to box... PERFECTLY.
If you don't box perfectly... then you get knocked down.
Now, what type of perfect boxing must you execute? Answer: Perfect defensive/counter boxing. No more no less.
Now, how many rounds of perfect defensive/counter boxing must Morales endure? Answer: 12 rounds.
Now, can you remember when Morales didn't slug it out and simply box perfectly for the entire duration of the fight?
Answer: NONE!
Morales better not come in overweight or take Pac lightly, his best chance is not to stand toe to toe with Manny, or EM may be forced to lean back. He'll have to use his better all around skills to neutralize Pac's speed and power advantage, Morales is the better boxer, he'll have to outbox Pac, he can't stand and take the shots like he did agianst Barrera
Exactly my thoughts man. ;)

I am a Morales fan and I have watched all of his great fights and definitely, he is one of the best in the world today. His losses to MAB are both close and could have gone either way and are in no way devastating. So even if he loses, he could still command good fights, e.g. vs. Pacman again, vs. JMM, vs. Larios, vs.Randy Suico, or move up to lightweight (not his best option though). But please no more MAB 4.
Having said that though, I am also a BIG fan of the Pacman, because not only he is on his peak right now, not only he is one of the best p4p in the world right now, he is also of the most exciting to watch right now. Even if he loses, many would still love to see him again, because I don't think he will lose without beating the other guy first. I would love to see him vs. MAB 2, JMM 2, or even EM 2.
As for this upcoming epic, I would pick the Pacman inside 4 rounds. If it goes beyond that, EM may turn the tables via a majority or split decision.
This may be the night that Morales gets old. Morales has to win this fight, and win big. If he loses here, its all over. When he gets to the top, it seems that he doesn't dominate the way he did against the lesser fighters. That has been Morales' main flaw.
well, it has been known that manny is 1-dimensional, but let's clarify what 1-dimensional is. i agree he is 1-D when it comes to killer blows. he still has to knock out someone with his right but, that's how you end fights, right? end it with the best punch youj have... on other aspects, i won't dare say he's 1-D because he has tremendous speed in both hands. he attacks with both hands and both land powerful punches. anyway, manny will win this fight. more than two months of training is going to do it, no cramps and reasons, this will be another blockbuster fight...
he's knocked out guys with his right in the past.

Yeah, people are still talking of the "old" Pacman. But Roach has re-invented a "new" Pacman, who's now not only 2-D but even 3-D! He's now not only using both his left and right, but also his brains!
Losing not an option? El Terrible will terribly be disappointed!
I know that Erik is one of the best fighter out there with complete repertoire in his arsenal. But I've got a feeling that Pac will win this match. I'm looking forward fo an action-packed thriller from the two best fighters in the lower divisions.
I agree with Silencer.
Reasons:
1. Pacquiao is considered 1-dimensional. Morales losing to 1-dimensional fighter is bad... really bad for his career.
2. Suppose, you argue that Pac is 1-dimensional but too powerful. Then why did JMM lasted 12 rounds. And Morales is supposed to have the toughest chin among the 3 M's.
3. Suppose, you argue that Morales has the tendency to brawl. Then he is more a moron than we thought of. Why? We know the answer. This moronic attitude will degrade him.
Now, if Morales lost. Who will be his options? C'mon guys. Give the list.
Perhaps Morales can take on JMM. Hahaha!!! How much? Can they still demand like they used to?
Or Morales moves up and gets avoided.
But if Pacquiao beats him, then I'm gonna say that Corrales knocks him out just by the sheer difference in power.

I dont think MAB will give Morales a part 4 even if Morales wins. Too much risk involved, if MAB loses...what then? Part 5?..Won't happen. They both have way too many options.
True to that, i think Morales will give a great performance but i just think Pacmans power will be the deciding factor.
I agree, this will be one of the best matches in 2005. EM's durability/versatility against Pacman's speed and power.
I believe that EM is an established fighter, he has proved to the world that he can fight any style any time. If he did get KOed by Paqman right now, most people would say he is getting old or is not as good as he used to be. He deserves to make it to the Hall of fame for all hes accomplished. The best eventually lose.
Well, got knocked out twice in a row in a row tell me silencer does that make him a loser? Bro, I believe that no matter what happen to this fight EM will always be a crowd drawer and besides there's no harm in losing against pac since it is like posting an agreement to a thread started by MAB and look where MAB is now.
Unless he gets KOed in the 1st or something crazy like that, he will never be "exposed."
He is a great fighter who has proven his skills big time.
It would take some serious falling off to not recieve respect in a different division.
(I personally would love to see him fight Corrales)
true, MAB is still a world class fighter and theres no shame in losing.
If he gets beat by Pacquiao, then he will no longer be a big draw because he also lost to MAB decisively. MAB will no longer give him part 4.

At some point your right, this will be the fight of his life to conquer a hard hitting man in Manny P and to regain his reputation as a P4P boxer. That is if he can beat Pac. It's not easy going into 2 consecutive tough fights after the other with two tough foes. I give credit to Morales on this one but I know he can't beat pac if he stands toe to toe with him. Pac said Morales is even an easier foe for him than JMM. :D
