i had the fight being a draw also...pacquiao dominated him the first 3 rounds badly with knockouts winning 1 round 7,10 and 1 round 8,10..but after the 3rd round pacquaio got outboxed..maybe winning 1 more round..and the only reason the fight was a draw is because of the knockouts in the first 2 rounds..marquez outboxed pacquiao after he got a feel for what he does
i agree with you..he thought he won that fight that's bullshit!he got knockdown 3 times and he thought he won that fight.he is lucky that the referee is w/ him and didn't stop the fight.and you can tell on his face that he was happy when he heard the decision is draw.it is obvious that he doesn't want to fight pacman anymore.
ref didn't stop the fight coz jmm can still continue the fight (as per the ref's POV)
JMM was dying in that fight, it was JMM's desperate attempt to survive and his counter punching abilities that saved him from further punishment and made him look like he won the fihgt.
JMM said after the fight that a there was no reason for a rematch because he thought he won the fight. lol! he clearly doesn't want to fight Pac anymore.
It was officially a draw so let's leave it that way. Look at where both fighters now. Where is pac right now and how much did he receive in his last fight? Where is marquez now and how much did he receive in his last fight? Do we still hear news about manny? Do we still hear news about marquez?
Who do you think is more in demand now as a fighter?
Let's hope that their rematch happen next year or maybe next next year. It will once and for all settle all issues re this debate of who really won the first fight. I hope nacho will agree this time that his fighter will be receiving less for this rematch in terms of purse.
Amen! You couldn't have put it any better, Prof! but just to add...
This topic is history that was not and can never be resolved by looking at what happened then. It is best resolved by what happened next, and as the prof put it, what's happening to them now. If you ask me about their first fight, to hell with the technicalities and scorecards. For me, what is importanet is the impression that each boxer left in everyone's mind. Which impression had the lasting effect and had more impact. Is it the "great" boxing skills of JMM (ho-humm...) or the three, 1st round knockdowns inflicted by Pac on the otherwise "invincible JMM" that everyone avoided? After the fight, who did the fight fans wanted to see again? After the fight, JMM did not knock out (or even fight)any worthy opponent anymore, until his pathetic loss to Chris John. After the fight, JMM was never the same again. After the fight, PAC just got better and better. It was a pity the rematch did not happen to put a solid stop to the issue, but for me that was the turning point in PAC's carreer, as he never looked back again. PAC-JMM 2 is something i'd like to see happening soon. Not that I think it's gonna be a mega fight, but to just settle the score once and for all.

it wasnt a bad decision, only pacman nuthuggers thought it was a bad decision! after round 1 pac didnt do anything and jmm boxed and countered manny! it was a very good decision!
i personally think JMM won that fight(coming from a pacman fan).. the first round was just so brutal.. but after the begining rounds, pacman lost his momentum and JMM only gained it.. he was clearly outboxing and counterpunching the shit out of manny.. i have no problem with the decision..
LOL!...There are a gazillion threads about PAC-JMM....But I guess we can just leave the result as is.It cant be changed. The question we should ask is, where are the 2 fighters right now? PAC is P4PP great, JMM is a virtual unknown who may never get to see the limelight again... ;P

There are enough things in this post to show you have no idea what you're talking about, so why are you even asking?
You should get a clue before you look to receive indepth info.
He should have, but at the time I was kind of satisfied to know that both guys would live to fight another day, and for several reasons, their fight will live on for a long time.
Pacquiao is at the stage now where he never has to fight Marquez whatsoever.
Marquez is the biggest waste of talent in boxing.
i'm not have a problem with the draw. with all the fuzzes around it, i think pacman emerged a much better after that. he definitely learned from the lessons of that fight and has become a better fighter. jmm defintely taught him a good boxing lesson that night. IMO pacman benefitted from that and the draw decision itself.
I kind of agree, but it would have been harsh on JMM - it was an amazing performance by him to not only get up three times, but to come back and dominate was incredible. I had him winning but only because I didnt score the first round correctly.
I think it was a legit draw.........although many would argue that because of all the KDs by Pac at the begining but based on the points system this fight was a draw.
It's a shame that we'll probably never get to see that business resolved. I always maintain that but for the mistake from that one judge who scored the first round incorrectly, Pacquiao should have won. I know most people think it is difficult to give a decision to a guy who lost nine of the last twelve rounds, but rules are rules and that first round was a 10-6 for Pacquiao, except Burt Clements scored it only 10-7. It was bullshit the way that Nevada basically covered their ears at this because they knew that there was money coming from a rematch. Marc Ratner sounding like he didn't know his own commission's rules was a joke.
i had pacman winning that by a point or two. in my book, he won 3 more rounds after the first. if not for that septuagenarian judge, pacman could have brought the bacon home!

I agree, when the first time I saw the fight I was like that was total bullshit but after seeing it again I had it a draw also. JMM just got in the zone in the 3rd and so on.
yeah so point wise they were a draw, that's what it comes down to when you go the distance right? but then here comes a judge who'll admit in making a mistake. so...
