It's not necessarily that he's super chinny, but being bothered multiples times by light punching Diaz isn't a great sign. And there's probably a reason he holds so much.

I get what you're saying. The disparity of quality opposition is enormous. Age, though, can make or break a fight in either direction (old or young. Maybe the youngster gets taken to school or he shows the old man the door) Let's not forget, Ortiz was not dominated. A guy with even less experience than Haney. Not rooting for anyone, rooting for a good fight with a clear winner. How do you see it playing out ? I see Haney's hand raised UD W Ortiz troubled Lomachenko with volume, something Haney is notorious for not having. And remember, Ortiz had already been in the ring with Lomachenko for probably numerous rounds. And think about this: How would the Ortiz you saw against Herring and Lomachenko fare with Diaz and Kambosos? Honestly? When I do a technical analysis, watching their fights and what they do, I see Lomachenko battering Haney. Countering that jab, beating away at the body, befuddling Haney with feints. Haney struggled way too much with Diaz and even in the Kambosos fights, was still getting hit in close and leaving himself open. I also rewatched a bit of the Lopez fight and for all the talk of Lopez taking away Lomachenko's angles and countering him... Lomachenko did a number on Lopez in the second half of that fight other than round 12. What it comes down to for me: How does Haney keep Lomachenko off? How does he avoid the left hand that Diaz kept hitting him with? Haney is so hittable it's shocking. Does he think all he has to do is jab, pivot, and hold?

You're not lying about Haney being vulnerable in large doses vs underwhelming opponents. And theoretically, Loma should feast. Loma couldn't feast vs Ortiz. When did he last feast on a ''top'' opponent. (Loma is just the guy to expose a ''top'' guy) The 2nd 1/2 of the Teo fight was ''good'' but it's not as if he shut Teo out. It was very odd seeing Loma ''fight'' like that in the 1st 6 rds. Didn't see the Commey fight How did he look ? I'm still seeing Haney UD W May the better man win I see your point. But again, Ortiz was a high volume recent sparring partner. Haney probably can't throw that kind of output. We gotta remember, Lomachenko got shoulder surgery after the Lopez fight and Lopez has huge power. Haney doesn't. Lomachenko got hit with some hard body shots from Commey, but quickly started countering right hands that fell short. Lomachenko could have stopped him but eased up after dropping him.

Not taking anything away from Haney. Not a fan of either guy per se. If Loma loses this fight in any fashion, his curtain might be closing. Vegas has Haney as being the big favorite so Loma winning will be considered an upset :dunno: I find that quite strange, honestly. I feel like I am missing something here. Haney's style doesn't really use his youth or size (more length) much. He fights like an older fighter. His best opponent in his career is faded Linares, limited Kambosos? Why is he so highly regarded?

It's interesting. Haney has the size and youth. But Lomachenko has better stamina, speed, power, and punch resistance. He's also vastly more skilled than Haney. To win this fight, Loma needs to show the skills he's shown throughout his career. Haney needs to show skills he's never demonstrated.

Yeah, I had Lomachenko losing to both Salido and Lopez and had him beating Haney. But if you can somehow go back to the Salido-Lomachenko threads you can see me gloating, admitting that Salido cheated big time and I was okay with it. I did have Lomachenko narrowly losing, but I LOL’ed that Lomachenko came in to the pros, 1 fight in somehow got gifted a world title shot. Was happy the veteran pulled some veteran moves on him. But admittedly, while Salido did win, he absolutely won by cheating the hell out of boxing. Big time. While I do hate all the excuses that Lomachenko fans had for his loss to Lopez, this is absolutely a fight he won (Haney). And he absolutely got robbed. And I can admit that, even though I predicted Haney would win. Unfortunately Loma fanboys basically look like the girl who cried wolf. They pretty much wasted their “robbery” cards on Salido and Lopez, when it wasn’t warranted. So I understand Lomachenko haters calling out Loma fans for using the robbery card a third time. Only this time, they are finally right with the robbery claim. Funnily enough, I thought Salido got jobbed against Martinez and Vargas. I didn't like his low blows, but he was a really fun fighter with a ton of inside skills. Wasn't 130 stacked a few years ago? Salido, Roman, Berchelt, Miura, Vargas, Pedraza, Corrales, Loma, Sosa, Walters...now it's kind of a wasteland, isn't it? 130 is generally one of my favorite divisions, so it makes me kinda sad. At least we have Navarette-Valdez. But to the topic at hand, I had the Salido fight a draw and a lot of people had the Lopez fight a draw or 7-5. So seeing the official scorecards, especially 11-1, I mean...and then there was the Russell fight, where he had to win 10 or 11 rounds for a MD. And then one judge had Linares beating him. He hasn't had great luck at all with the scorecards. And now the thing with Haney. Haney won't do a rematch for a fight everyone knows he lost (I hope I am wrong), Salido refused. Lopez didn't duck a rematch, he just got COVID and fell apart.

I had it 8-4 7-5 loma but I still can admit he has a horrible gameplan and management Eh? I mean, he split the early rounds and won most of the second half. Can't really fault a boxer if they win 8 rounds and get robbed.

I really don’t know why people are sleeping on Lomachenko? Age won’t be a factor like people are saying, if anything the way Haney stands is all wrong when fighting someone like Lomachenko. Unless Lomachenko allows Haney to tie him up all night long which is highly unlikely because Loma is good at breaking up clinches and he also knows how to get rough when needed won’t help Haney. Haney is going to have a hard time dealing with Lomas footwork and specially with those short punches on the inside that he likes to throw Yeah, Haney hasn't exactly been a big mover in recent fights.

Look how many Maidana hit Floyd with, how many rabbit punches, he hit Floyd with a knee, he bit him, he should have been disqualified 10 times over. Did Floyd make all these excuses? I think the big controversy is that there were enough clear Loma rounds that you just can't find 7 Haney could have won. The judges who had it 7-5 gave Haney 3 or 7, both rounds he clearly lost.

It's major projection. He knows he's been gifted repeatedly throughout his career. He knows he doesn't deserve his belts. But demanding back the money he was fined for his classless, uncivilized shove, that's kinda random.

I gave Loma 7-11 vs Lopez with 2 as a toss up but I liked what Loma did towards the end. Against Haney I gave him 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11 You could make a strong argument for 6 in the Lopez fight, and I say this as someone who scored it for Lopez watching live. But Lopez may have won 7 In the Haney fight, I would flip 1 and 2 and 5 and 6 give Loma 9. I had Haney winning 1,4,5, and 12.

Yeah Haney looked like crap lol. I’m really shocked how overrated he’s become. Good fighter but no pop and a resume with a few B level guys.
