my favorite excuse! prime calzaghe couldn't even beat robin reid come on now. mosley doesn't lose to shit fighters like that. he lost to the best. calzaghe never fought the best. or the second best. or the third best..and so on
Ask Robin Reid who won the fight :lol1::lol1::lol1:
Mosley got EMBARRASSED by merely good fighters and he's a drugs cheat. There's nothing accomplished about that. I like him though, pretty good, watchable fighter.
Hopkins was 43 year old. He was years past his prime. YEARS. Also fight decision is dispute.
The Tarver and Pavlik fights would indicate different. There's nothing to dispute, Hopkins deserved **** all for that dispicable performance.
he knew he won he was just being a good sport. unlike calzaghe who has his head up his ass and thinks he's the greatest of all time cause he beat lacy!
Robin Reid and good sport don't belong in the same sentence. He's always been a whinging little whore. He was even trying to make excuses after he got obliterated by Lacy :lol1:
Eubank he was. RJJ and Hopkins a bit past his prime. Not by much as you guys make it out to be,
He was a 22 fight novice when he schooled Eubank.
Hopkins wasn't as far past his best as you'd like to make out either.
he admitted he won in an interview after the fight when he actually sat down and watched it. here ya go mate! http://www.doghouseboxing.com/UK/Spud012105.htm
Thanks, but I'll take his initial reaction that he felt like a beaten fighter. That, and my own view of the fight of course.
robin reid watched the fight and said he won.
He admitted he lost in the post fight interview.
ask enzo calzaghe who won the hopkins fight :chairshot
I did but I couldn't really understand his answer. Something about Hopkins being a cheating, whiny little bitch I think.
Overall, Calzaghe had a more accomplished career
Adam1979, Cletus Funk, Johnny Rebel, legalaffairs, minto83, Steelhammer2K9
steelhammer stays true to form
Indeed he did. He's not a self confessed drugs cheat and he doesn't have 2 embarrassingly lopsided defeats on his record.
those 2 fights are so hard to judge.
i've tried to do it so many times and there are so many rounds that could go either way.
i think pac did better in the 2nd fight.
If you take away the KDs from the 1st fight then you're probably right. But then again, JMM is pretty old these days and has probably slipped a little.
He may be, but I liked what I saw in Hatton's last fight - a lot more how he used to fight in his early days, which is what made me a fan.
i disagree. i think floyd will be trying to change hatton's style.
floyd is an overrated trainer. he tries to get people to fight how he , roger and jr. does.
it doesn't work for everybody.
All Floyd sr seems to be doing is getting Hatton back to how he used to fight - leaving himself a bit more room to get his shots off properly instead of crowding his own work and using a little bit of extra head movement and a few more faints before coming in.
Hatton's pretty quick too so I don't think there's gonna be this massive speed differential, and Ricky's easily quick enough on his feet to be able to close Pac down. I can see Ricky busting up Pac's body and stopping him around the 8th. We've all seen how Pac can crumble from a good body shot.
who's ever looked great against jmm?
Indeed, but I thought he had a better case for winning the 1st fight. Doesn't sound much like improvement to me ;-)
those mexicans he's been fighting know a thing or two about working the body as well , cletus.
the fact that they couldn't work it , says a lot.
They didn't really need to work it as Pac's always been pretty easy to hit in the head, unless your DLH's corpse.
not the same pacquiao , cletus......
delahoya has himself to blame. roach was right. you make weight the day of the weigh in. you don't make weight months ahead of time and stay there.
Hard to judge Pac's improvement until he's in with a live body. He didn't look that great against JMM.

steve collins had no interest in losing to joe. at least from what i've read......
oh don't get me wrong eubank win was a good win. i always count it as one of his best wins.
i'm just pointing out some things on the eubank win since SOME seem to try to diminish ricky's resume and his win over kostya.
You're right, he didn't. Shame because it would probably done have done more for Joe's legacy.
I'm a massive fan of Ricky's too. I was at the Tszyu fight.
so we're counting "supposed" fights as part of the resume now.
fine i'll count manny pacquiao for ricky. since he's suppose to fight manny but oscar might/could ruin it.
so he fights at cruiserweight after joe and does good.......considering he hadn't been a 168 fighter for 2 years before the joe fight......kinda weakens joe's win even more doesn't it?
if he's fighting at 190 1 fight later and hasn't fought at his natural weight class for 2 years......kinda proves he was past it. past it guys can't make their weight easily anymore. :)
Nah ,the point is JC went after the strongest titlist at the time. He didn't go looking for a vacant belt. Hardly his fault that Collins' ass fell out before the fight.
Eubank fought weight drained half of the time anyway and he was only 31 for ****'s sake. Shot fighters don't jump 2 divisions and miss out on winning a world title by a whisker. Calzaghe was a relative novice and he absolutley dominated Eubank. Impressive.
so you're comparing a fighter's fight as he positions himself to a title shot to a reigning champion's defenses?
i don't care who a person fights as he tries to get a title shot. i care about who he fought after becoming a champion.
ricky was around 27 when he got his title shot against kostya. (wbu doesn't count)
joe was around 26 when he got his title shot against eubank.
unlike joe , ricky didn't get his belt fighting a shot fighter for a vacant belt.
maybe ricky needed a 38-0 record to get a title shot at the 140 lineal champion and p4p fighter.
all i know is after beating kostya , ricky challenged another beltholder and a fight after that challenged for a belt in a higher weight class. ricky also challenged the #1 p4p fighter in the world soon after.
why did it take joe almost a decade as champion to fight another beltholder? why did it take joe more than a decade to jump up and challenge for a belt in a higher division?
oh yeah joe fought #1 p4p fighters too...... about a half decade too late......
You do know that Joe was supposed to fight Collins for the belt but he suddenly decided to retire 2 weeks before the fight, right?
Oh, and Eubank didn't look too shot in his CW fights with Thompson afterwards.
its pretty much fact that eubank was shot...
i think even joe's camp agree on that
Past prime? Yes. Shot? No. Guess you didn't see the Thompson fights.
I hate him because he looks like a puppet, and kind of like a black version of Max Headroom(for those old enough to remember him :o ). Oh, and because he punches like a girl.
Seriously though, I think it's because of his attitude and that he's overrated in the larger scheme of things. He's a good fighter no doubt, but all time top 3 p4p? Please...
All you here from his crazed fans are "beat 8 world champs" or "best resume in boxing". Hell, Calzaghe had beaten 5 world champs before Lacy and you were all calling him shit. I'd also take Toney's, DLH's, MAB's or Morales' resume over his any day of the week.
majority of u thought gatti would beat baldomir..i said baldomir would win..u thought morales would beat raheem i said raheem would win..u thought tszyu would win i picked hatton (and im not a hatton fan..do a search if u dont believe me)..90% of u are always wrong yet u think ur some kind of genius..brawling with 135 pound gab rueleas isnt the same as fighting baldomir..the point im making is u infidels need to show me a little more respect and take a backseat to me frm now on..and remeber i said this..if ricky hatton moves back to 140..and fights vivian harris he will lose
Well done sunshine. Now off you go to your "free Zab" rally, there's a good boy.
Oh, wait....look what I found: :o
tarver KO 6...hopkins has never faced anybody who hits like tarver
its a been difference between felix trinidad and antonio tarver

On the money again,eh? I don't know how you keep churning 'em out. Do more of your super-picks included Zab over Baldy and Tsyzu?
You truly are a friggin idiot.
That's one good looking man. He should change his username to LL Dino.
Oh, and here's another one of his pearls of wisdom, the guy's been on fire :D
lacy beats em both...winky ud's calzaghe...lacy is too big for winky ..calzaghe is bigger then winky but i think winky can pull a UD..and lacy knocks calzaghe out..winky is boring so he probably can go 10 rounds with lacy
http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?p=971156&highlight=lacy+calzaghe#post971156
I think Winky would be the most difficult fight out there for him style-wise, but he did look like he was feeling Taylor's strength and power so I'm not sure how he'd cope with Calzaghe's.
Froch would be an easy night's work but Glen Johnson would make him work hard for it, as would Kessler.
It's painful just thinking about what Calzaghe would do to him. I've never seen Froch throw more than 25 punches in a round and his defence is horrible.
