people only say marquez because he won the other night. naz's only problem was taking things seriously with regards to training ect apart from that he was awsum
interestig match up. I'd probably go khan because he has more than just a fast jab like malignaggi.
for all those questioning khan for not taking barrera out last the other night i dont think khan has ever been a particulary hard puncher, he just uses he speed to overwhelm opponants. the accumilation of khans punches would of been likely to cause a tko in the later rounds.
hmm calzaghe has always seemed like the sort of guy who isn't loud or brash, preferring to stay close to home and what he knows. i don't think warren has said anything particularly bad here, its probably all true, joe just doesn't seem to have the personality to scream and shout about his fights to promote them.
I think they fight at a catch weight of 145 and Marquez actually beats floyd but gets screwed over to set up big time fights for floyd.
Juan Manuel Marquez knows how important this fight is to his career and he is gonna put on the performance of a life time. I just think it ends like Mayweather/Castillo I. Floyd gets to get the other big time fights while Juan will gain legendary status.
nope, floyd would win pretty comfortably
I dont know I didnt get an asshole vibe from Ray moreso than a "Im a star" vibe. I did a chat with him once while the Contender Season 1 was going on and he was cool for the most part but a lot of what he said seemed scripted because usually I try to make it relaxed rather than set questions but he always seemed to have set answers
met him in person afterward and same vibe. not a bad person but not so sure how genuine
always liked de la hoya tbh
I see
One of the reasons Boxing gets no serious coverage except for the Mega Fights in the States is because there aren't any exceptional fighters that the general public are familiar with outside the ring. Nobody has that star quality in the sense of stepping out of Boxing and being featured in commercials, TV shows, etc like guys such as Leonard and Hagler did in the early to mid 80s. Floyd's been the only one (and Im speaking about the States) who's gone that extra length to be recognized hence why Floyd is one of the most if not THE most recognizable Boxer in this era along with Oscar, but in this day and age of advertising, marketing, etc its tough to compete with the likes of the NBA where you see stars like Kobe Bryant and Dwayne Wade literally on a daily basis at times. They have sneaker deals, Jerseys, Endorsements, etc. How many fights do we see from Boxing's top stars in a year, maybe 3 at most? I mean i can go on and on about why Boxing's not at the forefront. But if I were to pick one of the bigger reasons it would have to be how the NFL, MLB, and the NBA have evolved in their own way to attract more fans to their respected sport. Boxing went from having marquee matches on Network TV to having Julio Cesar Chavez Jr headline PPV events. Obviously, something's wrong with that picture.
very good post, very good points.
the fact basketball players ect play week in week out i suppose is bound to give them far more exposure
is froch not fighting the ex-golden boy taylor for the super middleweight this weekend?!?!
anyway just pointing out how well boxing is supported over here. pisses me off when you guys have 5,600 for william/wright. need to get them fights out of vegas and back to the cities where people want to go and see it live
Yea but in the same token, the UK doesn't have Boxing competing with the NBA, MLB, and the NFL (shit, even College basketball and football) which in the States are the most popular sports.
Is it fair to say Football (Soccer in the states) in the UK is bigger than Boxing? I'm genuinely asking since I don't live in the UK.
yeh footballs pisses all over boxing and everything else over here. boxing is still a lot lower than lots of sports once you take away the big names. just a big disappointing the way boxing seems to be slipping from the american mainstream after all their rich heritage in the sport
But how much do the PPV in UK cost
ashley cole avatar? and your not from uk? £15 is a UK PPV which at todays conversions is about $25 which i suppose is a lot less than your $50 ones i hear about
i guessing but i'd say almost certainly. i know thats not much help but just have a look for it im sure these someone offering a quality official live stream
For once I actually find it hard to predict how Taylor beats him, but I'm pretty damn sure it'll be a schooling nonetheless. Crotch's style (which is, let's face it, a poor man's RJJ with that pasty white arm held low) will be his downfall, and Taylor will keep clacking him with sharp fast rights all night long. And if he catches him flush, he'll finish him this time unlike with Pavlik in their 1st fight.
Taylor UD.
i'm ****in up the morals of my thread but i've never heard that one before,
so simple,
so immature,
but so funny
don't think any one has ever questioned hattons heart and desire, more of a skill/technical issue. Although i'm picking hatton over pac because i think people are underestimating the step up in weight after the fight that proved nothing(de la hoya)
he said he had 'a lot of weaknesses' quoting it as him saying 'hatton is weak' in your title is misleading. so what anyway, this was prefight talk and it was hardly massive trash talk, pac didn't face the greatest version of DLH and hatton does have lots of weaknesses, talk about pointing out the obvious
Does anyone know the full story as to why Riddick Bowe gave up the World Title rather than fight Lewis who I believe was the No.1 ranked contender at the time? I think it was 1993 and Bowe dropped the WBC title into a bin?
bowe didn't want to know. there was more money for what were perceived as easier fights. LL would of made easy work of him.
Yes. Hatton is/was extremely weak. That's common knowledge.
Does he still have any of his deluded fans here on this site? Because from what I've seen, he was thrown under the bus and abandoned again.
hatton still got plenty of support here in britain. he took on the best and came up short, no shame what so ever! people defiantly feel a little deflated about the pac loss though, at least with mayweather there was a few excuses to cling onto i.e. the ref.
i dont know what goes on in some peoples brains on this site, of course hattons fans aren't going to come on here ranting and raving about hatton, he got beat, and badley. But that isn't to say his fans arn't there, just licking their wounds
hes deffo a HOFer but he should be fighting the best out there to be considered a great of his generation. i've no doubt that if floyd trained and put his mind to it he'd beat cotto, JMM and Margacheato. its just a shame he never engaged them to make himself a great. the only person i think that could pose him problems is williams just due to his shear size advantage at 147
hmm give the casuals some credit i think even they would off realised tyson was a little shot by then, very few bar the morons would have seen him as the lineal after lewis destroyed him.
don't speak too soon, floyd is coming back and hopefully he fight mosley and cotto while he's at it
i hope he doen't fight mosley because all that will happen is he'll make mosley look a fool then get shit for fighting an old man. Gotta take on Cotto really, pac too small, and although i'm a hatton fan i don't want him to go near ricky again, we all know what the out come will be.
Stop hating. The kid actually talked to him. Could you disguise your voice and sound like Floyd? He also sent him personal pictures and messages. Do you have any pictures of Floyd lying around that you would personalize? If you do you're a little touched in the brain mate!
