Benn's "weak chin" is a myth.
Benn's problem was overenthusiasm. He gassed out trying to bludgeon his opponent into submission.
Forget the fights he lost after McClellan. He was finished by then. Against Watson he gassed. Against Eubank he gassed. He was staggered by Logan, McClellan and Barkley - but all three of those guys were HUGE hitters.
The fact that he stayed upright against them validates his chin.
I'm a massive Benn fan, and have had the pleasure of meeting him.. One of the most exciting boxers of his generation, & a gentleman to.. You're right about him over gassing & the reasons for it, but it was a jab from Watson that put him away, so he must have been severely gassed.. I can also recall him getting badly staggered in the final round against the light punching Mauro Galvano.. To say he had a weak chin would be wrong, especially after what he endured against McClellan.. I think you're right & it's only fair to say, that he only struggled against fighters WITH very good chins..

hopkins
holyfield
hagler
ali
mclellan
benn
tyson
i dont think benn had a great chin, he was hurt by eubank at times who had a much better chin. froch, hagler, eubank and hamed also had good chins.
hopkins defence is so good theres no point in saying hes got a good chin or ot because he very rarely get tagged cleanly.
g-man had a decent chin or so i hear, tyson, mcline and tua were fighters born to take a punch - strong legs, thickly set and with virtually no neck!
fighters like ali and calzaghe had good recuperative powers and come back strong once they were hurt/floored/stunned.
but the award has to go to andrade, how he took bombs off kess and so many combos off bute and didn't go down i will never know, sugar shane has an iron chin as well and has been overlooked so far
Have to side with ILL WILL on this one (Chuvalo, LaMotta, JC) Punch perfect choice!
Mentionables: Ali, Marciano, Holyfield, McCall, Eubank, Hopkins, Toney, McCallum, Camacho, Greb, Monzon, Sanchez, McCulloch, Wilde, Hamed, Peter Buckley..
I don't know about G-Man, apart from Benn did he get hit much?
I'm not saying he shouldnt be there I just dont know, Mcall is up there though. Hamed is another one.
By all accounts the G man had one of the best chins. He went down against Benn because he had a blood clot in his brain. Before that he had sparred with Hearns, and Hearns never hurt him once.
baldomir and margarito's chins can easily break anybodys hands.im surprised mosely did'nt....plaster maybe....just kiddin!
