I wonder why no one has EVER given him a chance to do commentary on a major network...if ESPN had him in studio just one time I bet he'd catch on very quickly
I never took a test like that, no...but I will say this...boxing is a very complex game with many factors deciding who is in "better shape"...I know this much for FACT...call it experience, ability to relax under stress, whatever i tis...but I know gys in my gym that I train who can do some very difficult training...plyometrics, they can run super fast, jump very high...etc etc...stuff that I cant do nearly as well as they can ...but it is still a thing where when we box with each other they gas out after just a few rounds and I don't...so in a sense those type of tests are misleading and or innaccurate...in other words, you could get a guy who gets a super high score on a test like that...but he still couldnt box three rounds in front of a crowd without almost passing out...
Well...that all depends on what exactly a VO2 Max is?? :) LOL!! err VO2 max (also maximal oxygen consumption, maximal oxygen uptake or aerobic capacity) is the maximum capacity of an individual's body to transport and utilize oxygen during incremental exercise, which reflects the physical fitness of the individual. The name is derived from V - volume per time, O2 - oxygen, max - maximum.
Basicly it's the standard measurement of Anaerobic fitness, the fitter you are, the higher your VO2 Max.
I agree that Tyson would make a very good commentator, I heard him do commentate on a couple of fights on Showtime when DK had that deal with them, he's much better than Lewis and would make more people tune in.
Iceman unrelated question: did you ever have your VO2 max measured when in heavy training? would be interested to know what your score was if you did.
Well...that all depends on what exactly a VO2 Max is?? :)
I have always thought that Mike had a lot of insight and knowledge into a great many things...I said years ago that if people would just listen to him talk about boxing they would be impressed. He could give ringside analysis that would blow many commentators away
agree with that iceman, even a young mike tyson when talking about the great heavyweights from the past showed a depth and understanding that surprised me and imo the insight he offered was better than the insight we see from alot of todays boxing experts.
as for mike i think he would make for a very interesting figure in journalism, hes well respected in the sport beacuse of his acheivements and people would want to talk to him.
i think young talented athletes do sometimes make very good journalists and bring an insight into the game that you rarely see. listen to great football players like norman whiteside and gazza its very interesting to see what they have to say because they have experienced football at different levels and have been through the highs and lows.
stan collymore like tyson was a youngster with the world at his feet, he was an exremly talented forward player/striker with two good feet and he was exciting, like tyson he had problems with women and left a sense of potential unfulfilled. now stan is one of the better radio commentators on football in the UK, he can study a players body lanaguage, give insight into their positions and development, i see no reason why tyson can't do the same if he wants to.
Tyson is a grown man but it's not always like that. Some men like to have many women just like some girls toy with men's feelings. Those men that try to act like playas and only care about money are insecure IMHO.
But Tyson has really shown some maturity right there. :boxing:
Good vids , but I miss the crazy Mike !
Tyson is packing on the pounds , he has to be 255-260.
Yeah he has to be careful, obesity runs in his family, he had a brother who died young of heart/obesity issues.
I would love to see a product of Tyson's mind and experience in the ring. To who said it, I completely agree, he would be one hell of a trainer and I think, as many have said, he has so much knowledge in the art of war and the mentality and the ups and downs, etc. that whoever came out from under his wing, as he did Cus, would be a threat in any division for sure.
