I think you're overestimating Kabayel, I'd be very disappointed if Anderson couldn't handle him fifteen fights in. I think Wallin would pose more problems but still a fight I'd expect Anderson to win albeit far more narrowly.
I think Ortiz or Takam would be good fights next. They must see something in Kossobutskiy that they like because that's a tough matchup.
Takam or Pulev would make sense. Would like to see Ajagba but I think he'll be facing Makhmudov.
Rescheduling Kossobutskiy would make sense from a WBC rankings perspective. Anderson's got a decent rank with the WBO but likely won't be facing anyone ranked above him. Perhaps Kabayel who's at 11 if he doesn't get the AJ fight?
Holy smokes that's equivalent. to $127 here, I wonder why there is so much difference, anybody know the UK price.
We haven't had a UK broadcaster confirmed yet as far as I know, probably FITE TV for £13.99 or something
i wanted charlo - murtazaliev and canelo - benavidez because those are mandatories for the longest period (murtazaliev almost 4 years smh). the only reason i don't like canelo - charlo is because they are holding out 2 divisions. i would be totally ok with it if we were in 1920s with boxers fighting 5-20 times a year. charlo is especially very inactive, the thing i hate the most. i don't care about stars. they already have enough money. other people have to eat too and they need opportunities. cash cows are only needed to give paydays to other people.
jermell deserves this purse but i guess he'll be less motivated for the rest of his career after winning the lottery. i wanted him to stay at 154 and try to become top3 super welter ever with hearns and mccallum. it was possible with several more defenses in a tough era including crawford (if he beats spence) which would crown a new atg.
Fair enough he's had to wait a while, but sympathy wears a little thin when (a) he doesn't seem to have beaten anyone good to reach the IBF mando spot anyway and (b) he's been compensated with undercard slots on US shows (including Charlo-Castano I) where he's been fighting overmatched opponents and not exactly impressing for the last four years.
good shout on the Miller matchup, that fight would be ****ing insane :lol1:
BrilliantAJ So is he moving back to NZ then? moving from one of the most beautiful countries in the world....to live in Morcombe with gypsies, when he's already a millionaire is one of the more odd decisions.
Takam fight would be pointless at this stage.
edit: just seen Michael Hunter is fighting twice on Thursday night??
No idea, but I think his next fight is possibly going to be Opelu on a No Limit PPV. Takam fight isn't really pointless while they wait for the WBA, he beat Yoka comfortably just like Bakole did, and it's a fight he should win. Yeah Hunter is fighting twice, so is Dogboe, it's some sort of Team Combat League night or something. A farce if you ask me.
Yeah, he should be calling out Parker since they are both with boxxer. No interest in that fight though.
Whyte certainly has no interest considering he ran up a flight of stairs when Bakolie confronted him in Poland :lol1:
Parker isn't under contract with Boxxer anymore. His next fight is rumoured to be under No Limit in Australia.
Bakole is a difficult one to match, I think they just have to wait until they can get a WBA shot - I'm not sure Whyte-Bakole does enough numbers to justify paying Dillian, but they should do it just to get his name on Martin's resume. Hunter rematch would be ideal in the meantime. Maybe Takam.
Was he really demanding $10m to fight Ennis? I'd love to see that fight. They need to get Jaron a name opponent and Thurman fits the bill perfectly. That's a high level matchup too.
He demanded $10M to fight a guy who's largest purse hasn't surpassed $500K?.......lol. Thurman is in a bout with Reality and it seems he's taking body shots again.
I think Ennis/Thurman would be a decent fight. I'm not with the majority in thinking that Ennis is as elite as claimed.... He's fought nobody. Biggest wins are vs a couple 140 lb'ers moving up to welterweight, but claims he's bigger, faster, and stronger than the elites......
Thurman, Ennis, Stanionis, Ortiz, Ellis, Butaev, Crowley, Rocha all are on the same level to me..... Thurman is accomplished but in the last 5 years.....his stock dropped drastically due to inactivity........
On the eye test, Ennis passes with flying colours. I'm not sure some of those guys are on his level. I wouldn't oppose him fighting any of those guys and a few others (eg. Kavaliauskas). They need to step up the opposition for sure.
Is he another Kazakh fighter where the record looks good & it's not inflated, he's been in with decent opposition, but then against a truly top-level guy he's not really competitive a la Yerbossynuly? Or is this different and he really could KO Anderson. They must see something in him they like (aside from the WBC ranking) because otherwise it's a bold step up, I'd have thought they'd go after Pulev, Demirezen or Takam.
Really can't see him taking a fight at 140 that isn't Romero or Ryan next. Those would probably both pay better than a Prograis fight. Tank as a final cash out at 135 or one of the above at 140 most likely next surely?
Guessing that rematch with Loma isn't happening then which will be an asterisk for him too bad but if he legit can't make the weight any more Prograis is a good fight can't hate on that.
If Loma is staying at 1 in the WBC, and Haney takes a fight at 140, they should really try and get Loma-Shakur made for the WBC interim or something and put it on regular ESPN.
Yes. If you look at the champions, they're all 6'1+ (Goulamirian, Jack, Opetaia, CBS, as is Briedis). Two of the bigger name non-champion cruisers (Okolie and Riakporhe) would absolutely dwarf someone 5'11, they must be about 6'5.
Not sure about that. The big fight the PBC could make for Charlo is still Crawford, and that's a big fight win or lose against Canelo (provided he doesn't get decimated). Another loss for Canelo would be pretty damaging. Canelo-Benavidez or Canelo-Charlo are potential options if Canelo wins. Charlo wouldn't fight his brother, and a fight between Charlo-Benavidez isn't really being called for (maybe it will if he wins), so I really can't see how Charlo winning creates any superfights that wouldn't already be in existence win or lose.
Canelo coming through it on the other hand? You've got Benavidez, there's the revenge angle in a Jermall fight, he could fight Crawford in a mega fight at a catchweight - there's more you can do with him.
It makes more sense then that trash ass Pitbull rematch.
And they could make Pitbull vs someone with a name as the comain to lead into fighting Tank next time around as for me & I think most fans Pitbull hasn't even earned a rematch yet. Let him fight someone real to earn a rematch cuz the first fight wasn't THAT close to me & Tank had an injury. A 100% Tank is gonna win even easier.
But yea if there wasn't a $$$ issue/rematch details issue/options issue in this Shakur fight my assumption would be they are making a fight with Tank for more money.
Tank-Martin, Cruz-de los Santos co-main (winner to fight Tank next).
Would involve EDLH turning down a shot at the WBC title as he's next up; after that it's Yoshino (which would stiff Arum heavily) and then Jamaine Ortiz.
Making it ppv at 10 quid in the uk shows they have changed their strategy to try monetise everything immediately because theyre losing money.
not worth the publicity. Not more than 5000 must have purchased and thats 50000. Is it really worth all the bad publicity to charge for 50000 at the very most
Not sure if others were the same, but I have previously subscribed to DAZN. I would have for the month of September if the Canelo fight had been part of the normal subscription in the UK (may not have because Wood-Lara got cancelled but that's beside the point), but as it was PPV, I didn't. So they lost at least £7.99 there, and I wonder if others decided the same.
Next fight if you can get a Mosley Jr (I think he'll be a Munguia opponent personally) or Rosado that would be ok, he should win those. I also think he'd have a reasonable chance against John Ryder to be honest. I'd be amazed if Saunders could make 168.
Bigger name opponents for his next one - Munguia is obviously a huge fight, or GGG.
If I'm them I'm definitely throwing him in with Pacheco in May next year. Build Pacheco, as you say. He's the real deal imo.
Third fight could well be the Charlo-Tsyzu winner at a catchweight. Very possible that the winner of their fight fights for the WBO at 160 next and then fighting Canelo seems plausible at 165 or something.
What happened to Vykhryst against Pero? I read he was up on two cards and turned his back? His fight with Kiladze on the Ortiz-Martin card was very exciting.
Beterbievs next fight is Jan. Same month he turns 39 years old.
Bivol is lost. MR have no one to give him. Their plan and Bivols teams plan was holding out on the 2nd Canelo cheque. But they got big for their boots and didn't realise they can't demand anything from Canelo he is A side vs anyone and has options everyone wants him. Should have accepted the first offer they got.
I don't think anyone wanted to see the Canelo rematch at 175. 168 would've been good but the WBC/Canelo scuppered that. The fact we didn't get a meaningful fight between Canelo and Bivol was solely the fault of Sulaiman and Canelo. Zip Canelo up when you're done.
2x Wilder > Takam, Dubois, Parker
I didn't even add Whyte who was on top form and Wallin who is problematic southpaw. Chisora has a chance against his old wife Takam even today and gave run to Parker in their last fights.
This top form included getting brutally KO'd by an ancient Povetkin, and his win in the rematch (tainted by Povetkin having COVID) being his only notable win in nearly three years leading up to the Fury fight since Rivas?
Thought I read he'd be facing Bakole next. If that falls through, then I wouldn't mind seeing him in with Joseph Parker. The issue is I'm not sure that headlines anywhere. Hunter-Bakole II or Hunter-Parker would be a good chief support for most UK fights though.
Other than that, maybe get him in as Jared Anderson's next fight after his April opponent?
Is Hunter a reasonably big name in the US? He'd have recognition here in the UK, but as I say, he's not a headliner.
"BrilliantAJ" lol at this fuckin name. We can't expect smarter post from an AJ fangirl.
Whyte was boxing Pove's ears off until got KO'd. That was one of the smoothest uppercuts ever. Then, embarrassed Pove in rematch and finished him in 4. His prime started in Browne and ended in Fury. Because Fury is another level.
If you don’t get BrilliantAJ as a name then that’s on you lol, definitely not an AJ fanboy.
I think Ennis gets a pass for this one on the basis that it's for the interim IBF title - the opponent is admittedly very poor but he was the highest ranked contender available.
Was Thurman not asking for $10m to fight Ennis? I'd have him down on the list of duckers.
Lol, why do people get so defensive over the money and PPV buys of fighters they'll never meet in their lives? Of course this show was going to bomb, he was fighting a guy nobody but people here have heard of. I like Wilder, he's got limited skills but his power is ridiculous and he's fun to watch. If he fights Joshua, it will do huge numbers over in the U.K. so that's where he needs to go. His career is almost over but he's got a few more fun fights to make vs Joshua and maybe Joyce which would be a banger cause that guy has a chin and a half on him.
I think Hearn wants to make Wilder-Whyte in the Middle East. I don't know how that works with the proposals for AJ-Whyte II, but I remember reading he was talking to Finkel about numbers for Wilder-Whyte.

Some key points
Bud said Boots fight is possible but he feels like he has bigger (money?) fights to make. He specifically said he wants Charlo at 154. "I'm looking for bigger and better opportunities, like Charlo.
Said he doesn't know of anyone else he could fight besides Charlo and Spence that would do big numbers except Canelo but "he fights at 168 plus, so I don't see me and him fighting"
Said it's not personal against Charlo but he doesn't care for the dude (sounds personal to me lol)
Said he walks around in the 160s, he's around 160 today
He said he's fine with fighting Spence in December if Errol wants it. Bud said he's obligated to take the fight.
Said all the excuses are coming out for Spence just like he predicted
Is pretty upset he had to wait this long for the fight. Specifically said he felt disrespected when Showtime/PBC would leave his name out when showing the top 147 guys. "They tried to outlaw me so fans forget about me."
Says the biggest he can fight at is 154
This was from the first 1/3 of the interview, you should check out the rest, very interesting
Haven't seen the interview, but I'd be surprised if he doesn't feel he has a chance at grabbing at least a portion of the 160 titles given the wasteland that is that division. I'd actually be quite interested to see him in with Gualtieri or Janibek.
Taylor and Teo were considered the two best at 140, if not then who was? You keep ducking the question.
Crawford beat Porter way more decisively than Spence and was already an undisputed champion. Spence’s best win was Danny Garcia, who ducked Crawford.
Teo-Taylor happened before Prograis' defence against Zorilla - he's lost a lot of hype based on that performance but I think he was considered the division's number 1 before that fight.
