First let me say Leonard-Hagler-Hearn-Duran is my fav era of boxing. Leonard, himself had dealt with a detatched retina, and Hagler had SIGNIFICANTLY slowed down in his penultimate fight with Leonard. SRL was ringside, and he saw that was a match made in heaven for preserving his record and cementing his legacy. It was Hagler's fight to win, and we know the rest.
But Rigo has been in big trouble with good punchers from decent fighters late in fights. This is a Crawford vs Gamboa all over again. Rigo will have his moments early, but the workrate will get to him late and his face will bear the damage. I do not see this as a barn burner. Rigo will slow the fight down to his speed.
Donaire was a ghost that fight. He was a lot more explosive in prev years. Not to take away from Rigo's win, which I give him a lot of credit. He competed with poise other than a flash KD late.
Loma Decision
I don't fear that Mayweather will lose, honestly I don't think anybody does. What I do fear is the very real prospect that Floyd will be content to just move, clinch and potshot for twelve rounds, and then when thw wide decision result is going to get announced, half the ignoramuses that got suckered into buying the fight will scream that McGregor got robbed, the other half will say that Floyd fought like a little girl and that all boxers are loser cowards, and all of them will proclaim that boxing is dead despite the fact that they've not even seen one minute of another boxing event that whole year. The net result will be a big stink that'll put a dark cloud over the sport in the same manner as Mayweather vs. Pacquaio. That's my only fear for how this whole fight pans out, and sadly the way I see it it's the likeliest outcome.
If you of the belief that a main event involving FMJ is a waste of money raise your hand. I have been watching the sport for 20 years. No thanks to that guy for 75% of his fights e.g Baldomir, Guerrero, Berto, Marquez (this was just a new low.. would not even step on a fight night scale). For the love of God would he just pay his bills and retire??
Reads: "I'll fight twice a year now at home still and make 6x the money with this WB% belt"
I can't say I blame him. He does not really look ready for GGG, but I like his workrate and rhythm.
Would be just as sweet to get something in the W column, just saying. Groves has a long way to be in the public eye. This should be a mismatch, asgrovesis a much better and quicker boxer.
Kovalev is not as quick as the 168#ers Ward fought. Krusher fan, but SOG is a real SOB to hit. Ward will even toy with him in the middle rounds. God I hope I am wrong.
I have Frampton by decision with "the jacket" controlling the early rounds and squeezing out a decision. LSC is a statistically slow starter, but he will have his moments in the mid rounds. He'll prob out weight Frampton by 10# fight night. This will be a really good fight.
At least he has proved to be better than Seth Mitchell and Cris Arreola as far as American Heavyweight Prospects go. Great fight to watch for the average viewer and up. I hope he brushes up on his Defence. there were more than a few scary shots he took in that fight. I'd like to see him take this somewhere. He's got undeniable talent.. for 6'7" I can't remember the last guy that big who could fight on the inside maybe like a Riddick Bowe...
Paul Williams
Let me ask you this.. Did any of you see Paul Williams and Carlos Quintana? I feel like Lara blueprinted a little of what he did in that first fight with the lean back and counterpunch strategy.
I think Lara hit Williams just as much as Quintana did and with just about as much effectiveness (granted Quintana did cut him up a lot more that Lara)
Who do you think beat up Williams more?
Funny thing is, Khan would hang with Mayweather pretty well. He can get his bell rung by big hayemakers, but those are not the punches that are going to be thrown at him by FMJ. Khan can box really well when he can control the ring. But after about 7-8 rounds Khan just throws arm punches
It's like every time you knock him out he gets dumber. He should be watching tape of his post fight comments. He was an absolute chicken against Price. Timmmmberrrrr
Why don't they just have one belt, and then call the rest of them suspenders, since it means the same thing.
The WBA is pleased to announced they will also world rank fruit and vegetables.
On the other hand, I am so relieved this fight is going to be cancelled. It should have never gotten off the ground.
If two actually fights 2x this year like he says, I will change my SN to "Teos_B*tch"
It's just not happening. He could have rematched Loma already, but he's gonna wait for him to get a little older and slower. Smart move by his team, but he's not fooling anyone but the drooling fans.
Horn would absolutely hammer Khan were they to fight and Horn is pretty grim given the real talent of the division
Horn beats Khan with his proper shoes (that seems to be a problem). Khan is still fast and snappy, but so is his head on that well lubricated neck of his.
Whoever wrote this article is a moron. Ryan has a "deep committment to his christian faith"? Ryan is the epitome of a typical GOP christian-- full of hypocrisy, lies, hatred, delusion, narcissism, misogyny, racism, alcoholism, drug use and mental illness. He's even worse because he has an identity crisis going on too. He's a mexican who wants to be a racist white redneck so bad, so that compounds his crazy even more. Ryan is just salty because Plant clowned him and threw a beverage in his face .I have no idea who this Mc CUMby is, but I hope Plant does more than out box this fake jesus freak. I hope he puts him to sleep in the name of jesus
So you have a problem with GOP Christians because of Ryan Garcia? Interesting. That would be like hating the Dems because of Jeffrey Epstein.
The juice is loose! Nery is the poster boy for PEDs and getting zero punishment. I will never watch his fights after yamanaka. Guy misses weight by a dozen pounds and still gets to fight? F this guy. F him for his whole career.
How did the idiotic judges give Joshua any round from 6 - 10?
Boxing judges are the worst.
THIS.. I have not seen the scorecards (any1 have a link?), but I had Wlad ahead at the stoppage. Boxing is SO corrupt. We should go back to endless rounds, so we do not have to let old senile pocket-padded MF-ers scoring. These guys/gals have a hard time ADDING. You ever see the chicken scratch they turn in???
Callazo is just relentless as a fighter. He is one of those guys that has always had a daytime job, and fights on the side. Callozo runs away with a decision after Ortiz wins 3-4 early rounds. Callazo is a much hungrier fighter
Khan can be a local (UK) hero, and an average guy on the world stage. Either way I just wish he'd stop whining all the time. He has 3 bad bad loses. None of which he has avenged. Talk about an asterisk on your resume!
Rois is so green sometimes in the ring. Even an aging fighter like Marquez, Soto, or Holt would box his ears off at LWW.
When Rois does not have 15lbs on the guy fight night, he is not going to be a real threat.
Pulev landed 169 punches to chisoras head compared to chisoras 69, thats 100 more punches to the head and threw 270 more punches in the fight yet chisoras 60 extra body punches made the difference? He got out worked and outlanded but won? what bull****
No way Chisora got outworked. He would not have stood in the pocket and traded like that the entire fight. This is a fight you have judge based on effective punching and that was all Chisora. Pulev was throwing gas after round 7-8 with all of the body work piling up and clean blows to the head.
Foreman and Ali: do you think Foreman was winning every round by throwing more and wasting all of his shots?
I think Morales refused to push the fight back after he was in the hospital (gall bladder?) and that cost him a lot. He was just a 1/4 step behind all of Garcia's punches. In this game that usually means lights out, but Morales is too savvy to let that happen. That being said, Morales wants no part of Khan, who will just move all night and dance
I was rooting for Wilder's comeback so hard over the last year and a half. Now, after that woeful interview with PBC where he blames 'white America' on him losing, I have lost most of the respect. Nobody made him get KOed. Nobody was burning down Minneapolis and Detroit because he lost. He is a sad individual who is STILL looking for the scapegoat. I am happy that he going to challenge Fury again, but I would say we have already seen the best of Wilder, and let's just not buy this PPV. Fury will smother him worse than the 1st fight and it will not be competitive.
