In all fairness, you should be comparing Fraud moving up to fight an old Oscar as comparable to Calzaghe moving up to fight an old Bhop. I had Oscar and Bhop winning both of those fights so...at least Calzaghe was aggressive and Bhop beat some ppl afterwards, so I'll give the nudge to Calzaghe.
Alot of the reason is that there isn't enough money to go around. Theres like 5 to even 9 fights every big fights just like this weekend. But only half will be on tv. Why not cut the ****en fighters in half and just have 3 fights before the big one and give that extra money u were gonna give them other fighters to the other 6 that are gonna fight on tv.
I think the amount of money they were going to pay the super-undercard guys would probably not make much of a dent in hiring better fighters for the late-card fights. I understand your frustration though.
Too hard to call...I mean JCC is our lifetime as well as Roy Jones. He would be up there with Roy but its hard to put him past JCC(technically he was fighting bums by that time but still). He is already past Mayweather, DLH, Whitaker, Barrera, Morales etc
So?
I think in a way, it's a little easier to root for Pac than Hatton, but I also think Hatton may need this a little more than Pac as far as legacy. People are basically shitting on him right now and being the underdog, it can possibly make you lean towards rooting for him, however; how do you root against Pac given all he has done in and outside the ring?
I think the only solution for me is to either see a draw or to see a double KO ;)
Let the best Man win. I'm cool with whatever happens.
I hope it is a Gatti-Ward type fight though.
yeah, its tough to pick. I'm siding with Pac because Hatton holds a little too much for my taste even though he is still an aggressive guy.
Same as Mayweather fighting at SFW for 27 fights and blowing up to JMW and WW, he fights a Lightweight coming up, but he's 'too big' for Marquez even though May himself was once that 'small'.
Oops you left something in there that invalidates everything you said.
This guy is just anti-photogenic in the ring... all of his pictures are either low action, or he is making a stupid face as he is punching.
lol I wonder why

He has NO choice but to fight the biggest fights at there, Thats the fights that makes you the most money and helps your legacy in boxing.
Do you mean Hatton specifically or boxers in general? Cause I can think of one boxer that definitely does not fit that bill...
Do you think Ricky has the heart to keep going if he loses to Manny?
On 24/7 he mentions how he didnt stop crying for three months after he was defeated by Floyd!
I also heard he nearly had a nervous breakdown,
do you think if he loses this fight it will be the nail in the coffin as such?
Do you think he would comeback??
Discuss
for someone who hates losing that much he sure goes out of his way to fight almost unbeatable opponents!
I wonder if he had a concussion, that might explain why he was so depressed.
He is undefeated at MW. He knocks out just about every guy he's ever fought. He lost one fight in his career, 10 lbs over his natural weight, to the HIGHEST RANKED P4P fighter above 147 in the world. Yet all I see around here, day in and day out, is how shit Pavlik is and how everyone and there mother can beat him. If that is the case, how come only a hall of famer who arguably beat Joe Calzaghe has done it so far? And stop giving him shit for fighting Mora. Mora is a natural MW who had the tools to beat Forrest(even though he's 1-1 against Vernon). It's hard to call a guy who recently was the legit JMW champ a total bum. And it's a fight to stay busy before the Abraham fight. Kelly is a stay busy fighter. He fights 3-4 times a year. Some of you can't appreciate a guy who fights often. Maybe you'd rather he does what some of the other champs do and fight every 6 months. Kelly fights as often as he can, meaning every 4 months, one month for rest, 2 or 3 for proper training. That means not all of his fights are gonna be super fights. If you have half a brain you will understand where I'm coming from. Oh yeah, and in case you didn't notice, he always comes to his fights to entertain, not just to make money. He is one of the most underappreciated champs on the planet today, all because of one loss to the best P4P guy above 147. Shame on all you who hate on this guy.
#1 he isnt hated
#2 IF they do hate him, its because he's white on this particular forum, or because he hasnt fought Abraham yet.
At 130 he fought the very best and beat them all, except for Erik Morales in the first fight. He avenged that decision loss with two spectacular stoppage victories.
Since he's gone up in weight, above 130, he KO'd David Diaz at 135 and beat the crap out of a weight drained Oscar at Welter. Neither of those fights tested Manny at the higher weights, as David and Oscar were essentially punching bags with legs.
In Ricky Hatton, Manny will be fighting the best fighter in the World at 140lbs and a fighter in his prime. This will be Manny's first REAL fight and REAL test above 130lbs.
I think David Diaz is a pretty good fighter so I do think that was a real test. Hatton is a HUGE test, however.
i'm not a jmm fan. i don't like the guy tbh. i respect him though.
it bothers me that an overrated fighter will get even more overrated winning a mismatch against a fighter who actually does take on the best competition.
He wont get more overrated. 1 year ago when I used to post in NSB a lot, that poll "Would mayweather fight JMM if he was a legit welterweight?" would have been 18-4 in favor of "yes he would".
In an old Mayweather fan thread... you were deemed to be my rival...
Am I forgetting a large chunk of life or is this completely made up?
It happened, but I havent really posted here for almost a year.
Yeah, the fighters need to get their ass across the atlantic to fight each other instead of worrying about fighting mandatory bums.
Amen. This will be a must-see fight if it happens.
hatton has faster feet then pacquaio, maybe you should see the mayweather fight again, pacquaio doesn't hit as hard as mayweather and hatton won't respect his power, hatton by late round KO
Yes No Maybe So
Floyd will never fight Cotto. I don't usually post things that I know could come back to bite me in the ass later, but I am THAT sure that he won't fight him. Why do you think he keeps retiring? What luck for Floyd that Margy cheated, Cotto lost, Paul Williams moved on, and old man Mosley is the top in the WW division!
Floyd Mayweather
Super Featherweight = 27 fights (1996-2001)
Lightweight = 4 fights (2002-2004)
Light Welterweight = 3 fights (2004-2005)
Welterweight = 4 fights (2006-2007)
Light Middleweight= 1 fight (2007)
Miguel Cotto
Light Welterweight = 27 fights (2001-2005)
Welterweight = 7 fights (2006-2009)
Has it really gotten that bad? Is the best you can do? Fraud said he cant make JW for the fight with Marquez. if you are 141 you have to fight welterweight if it is a title fight. Plz stop, you are embarrassing yourself.
Something tells me Chavez would out-MAN Fraud. Obviously based on a laymans assessment of pure skill, one would have to say Fraud because he is faster. Look at Castillo/Mayweather to see more or less what would happen.
Exactly, but I can see Floyd giving Chavez similar problems as Sweet Pea.
Possibly with a similar judging result. Those judges didnt care for running back then, and its not like Sweet Pea was running compared to what Floyd would do.
To get on the P4P list Pavlik really need to beat AA or Sturm, beating a guy froma division below you who's not even top 10 in THAT division is not going to get you into the top 10 P4P.
I agree. Pavlik needs to clean out his own division.
