How did it turn out?
Turned out, that after almost 3 years out of the ring,
Sugar Ray Leonard showed his worth to the sport of boxing and its history by going up and taking on the very best middleweight in the land.
Worthy of being called an all time great.
Ray could have easily came back after 3 years and fought Jose Luis Ramirez.
But he actually had some huevos in his sack.
Floyd has skittles.
You guys act like Mayweather has been active for the last 2 years.
He has not fought in almost 2 years and his first fight back will be
Juan Manuel Marquez. The 2nd best fighter in the sport....
You guys Forget that:
Mayweather has spent 70% of his career at Super Featherweight
and
Juan Manuel Marquez has spent 90% of his career at Featherweight
and you forget that
Floyd has 8 fights at 140 or above,
while Juan Manuel has
0.
Just as in the majority of Floyds fights,
hes fighting a smaller man.
I don't know about that. Style-wise, Marquez has always reminded me a bit of Genaro Hernandez. As he's gotten older, Marquez has turned aggressive but in his prime the similarities were striking.
I think the idea of Mayweather not having fought a guy as skilled as Marquez only means he'll really be able to work out the kinks. Again, the weight will be a factor. I don't doubt Marquez will be just as sharp at , say 143, but Mayweather ain't no Ruiz. His strength is underrated and it'll show against a smaller guy. Mayweather went the distance with nearly every welter then experienced a power surge against a Ricky Hatton moving up. Oh wait, the other guy he stopped at 147 was also a recent newcomer to the division.
I think the most overlooked aspect of this not-quite-signed bout is the fact that Mayweather is no longer a spring chicken. And his athletic skill has waned a tad. The first sign is when they become flat-footed. The second is when it takes the fighter a little longer to get in his zone ie. slight struggles in the early rounds. It'll be interesting to see what he has left after taking time off.
Marquez's age and the fact that he's moving up to a weight division he hasn't been before will ultimately win over any argument that him and Mayweather are at an equal level, as far as measurements as concerned. They're irrelevant. Mayweather has a clear advantage, stop denying it.
I'm not saying he's avoiding anyone or "picking on the little guy", that's just hating, but to say he doesn't have an advantage in this fight is just ridiculous.
oscar de la hoya is much more skilled than jmm. so is zab judah (heart isnt a skill!!!!)
Judah is more skilled than Marquez? You mean the same Zab Judah who has lost every big fight in his career? Oscar isn't more skilled either, but at least that isn't a total joke. Your credibilty goes down the toilet with comments like that.
i'm not a jmm fan. i don't like the guy tbh. i respect him though.
it bothers me that an overrated fighter will get even more overrated winning a mismatch against a fighter who actually does take on the best competition.
He wont get more overrated. 1 year ago when I used to post in NSB a lot, that poll "Would mayweather fight JMM if he was a legit welterweight?" would have been 18-4 in favor of "yes he would".
okay mr smash....... continue with your brainless shit talk..... its quite entertaining
actually i was thinking just the same about you.
"kirkland KOs williams"
"floyd KOs mosley"
"margarito is a bum"
"quintana is not a good fighter"
"judah is more skilled than marquez"
lol give me a break.
Then tell Marquez to quit chasing the money and keep stay at lightweight then.
he will.
he was just bringing up floyd as part of the negotiations.
he wants a pac/hatton fight for bigger money.
it's in marquez's interest and his promoters interest for jmm to fight one of those 2.
pac and hatton is bigger money than floyd tbh. plus gbp has interests in pac and hatton too.
I think it bothers you that Floyd is going to beat a fighter youre a fan of.

thats your opinion, which doesnt mean shit. the facts are a lucky punch killed judahs career, and the only real thing that held judah back was a lack of heart and dicsipline. all that shit you rappin dont mean a damn thing.
lucky punch? tsyzu was probing the dumbass judah with the right hand all of the second round, judah cant fight for shit. your talking about a guy who was outboxed by carlos baldomir and cory spinks.
Floyd's really 5'7 himself, many people have confirmed this.
yea what the **** this shit is getting me mad these guys have hate in their heart they need jesus. floyd is the devil for fighting a guy that is his ****ing size.
He is. But at the same time, Mayweather, have alredy faced, guys Old and smaller!!!!!!!!1
I mean, the best pure Boxer right now, is Calderon.
That will justify a Floyd fight?
that's floyd's retirement fight.
marquez , pacquiao , vasquez , darchinyan and calderon then retire again as the greatest welterweight of all time!!!!!!!!

true..........
i dint really mean it but it was a interesting thought that popped into my head and hadnt heard it from any one trying to defend the fight.
