...how come so many cruiserweights and 200 pound guys are among the best at HW during Wlad's reign? Chris Byrd was a 200 pounder and he is Wlad's best win. Wlad's second best win, David Haye, was a cruiserweight that became the 2nd best HW almost the moment he walked into the division. James Toney was boxing obese at HW and he beat Holyfield, Ruiz, and Peter. Roy Jones Jr. weighed in at 193 and beat Ruiz better than most HWs ever did. Marco Huck is a cruiserweight and a lot of people think he beat Povetkin, one of Wlad's best wins. Tomasz Adamek was a past prime cruiserweight and he beat top 10 HWs after moving up. Steve Cunningham is a cruiserweight and he floored Fury and beat Monsour, who people were hyping. He also beat Adamek. Eddie Chambers was huge at 220, and his best around 210. If all these supposed 240 pound monsters are so much better, why are they losing to all the guys just as small as fighters in inferior eras? Agreed, but what are you trying to prove? Every knowledgeable boxing fan knows that size isn't everything, even at HW. You are knocking on open doors here.

specially at Elite level? i see guys like canelo,oscar who are on top becuase of the way they look i mean if you look at the older school boxer like jack dempsey they look like real figthers So Canelo is on top because of the way he looks? He's a solid all around fighter, but no boogeyman. I'm pretty sure Khan would pitter-patter him all night for a lopsided UD, and there are many other fighters at 140 and 147 that I would pick to beat him.

I would rank him around #8-10. 3) Chambers shouldn't be there at all. His last significant fight was a loss to Adamek two years ago. I would replace him with either Takam or Glazkov. 4) Fury (as much as I hate his guts) is too low. He should be around #5. 5) Where is Chisora?

I've read a lot of people questioning why PAC is staying with Arum? It's called LOYALTY. PAC did not have a career until Arum came into the picture. People need to understand that Filipinos are loyal to people who have helped them in their lives. PAC came from DIRT in the Phillipines. The poverty Floyd claims he came from is a luxury compared to the poverty in the Philippines. A lot of u feel Arum is robbing PAC of $, but obviously PAC doesn't see it that way. Arum is a promoter and his company doesn't work for free. Arum must be doing something right for his fighters careers because he keeps signing fighters. Floyd talks a lot of mess about Arum, but do u think Floyd's career would be where it is today without Arum's guidance? Floyd acts like he would still be on top of boxing even if Arum never promoted him which is false. Oscar even admits his career wouldn't be where he is today without Arum's guidance as his promoter. Dude, you are aware of the fact that Manny was left almost penniless last year, right? And if he suffered two bad losses in a row, would Arum be "loyal" to him? I sincerely doubt it.

Khan should get a date sorted then he could fight Brook in December if Brooks wins. It's risky strategy of course should Brooks get injured. I do not see why Khan can not fight Thurman. And I do not see why any other name fighter at 140/147 cannot fight Thurman. Why is it always Khan that's "ducking Thurman"?

Hall of fame? Yes for sure. ATG, no!!!!!! not yet. I'm willing to bet that he beats Russell and Loma if he moves up. I'd even add Gamboa if Flash could make a buck 30.... Moves up to where? Loma and Russell Jr. are FWs, just like him. Btw if I were Donaire, I would avoid Loma. Very bad style matchup for him. It would be the Rigo fight all over again. Donaire vs Walters is what I would like to see.

Andrade is Lara's heir as "the guy Canelo is ducking". Interesting fight, but Canelo deserves to fight a more favorable style matchup next. Canelo vs a boxer type doesn't make for an entertaining fight.

Was there any testing for this fight? I was very surprised by the level of improvement in Canelo's stamina. A fighter shows a little improvement in stamina and all of a sudden he is suspicious... And it's not like he fought at an insane pace either, he just didn't fade like usual.

Hard to tell. On the one hand, Canelo struggles against slick boxer types, and as far as I'm aware, there are no world class slickters at MW. On the other, MWs are of course bigger, stronger, tougher and more powerful than the competition he has faced so far. I would say if his power carries up well and if he can take the one shot power of a middleweight puncher, he will do well at the weight. One thing is for sure: with the SHO/HBO cold war still going on, he won't have to worry about GGG anytime soon.

I believe that Chris Algieri winning against Manny Pacquiao is best for boxing, Chris is 30 years old around the same age that Pac and Floyd were when they became superstars, Pac was 29 and Floyd was 30 I believe when they fought Oscar and the marketing power was transferred over. Chris has the skills, the looks, the personality, he will capture white America which is a market that has been taken over by UFC, boxing needs a Chris Algieri win big time. He will be the new guy in boxing that is extremely marketable and he is the anti Mayweather in terms of personality and the way he carries himself with class and humbleness. I remember people doubted me when I said Chris can outbox Ruslan easy, I said Chris had the boxing skill to box circles around him the only other option is Ruslan knocks him out early. But Cris impressed me he showed heart and will. A upper middleclass white boy with the heart of Rocky and the boxing skills of willie pep. He is the underdog, and if he beats Manny he will be an instant star. Arum and HBO need to push him right away he can fight anywhere from 140-154 with his size, he is 5 foot 10 and can fight from any weight. Yes, it would be nice if there was an insanely talented and charismatic guy who could take over boxing when Floyd and Manny retire. BUT Algieri is clearly not that guy, and him beating Manny would mean only one thing: that Manny is shot beyond repair. How would that be good for boxing?

The Cuban school is fine, and this is hardly a setback. BUT I hope these losses make people understand that Cuban fighters are not the demi-gods they are often made out to be, and that Gamboa and Lara aren't anywhere close to Rigo's level.

Name calling and catchweight blame games aside, OP has a point. TR has nearly run out of options for Manny. JMM V would sell reasonably well but JMM doesn't seem to want it; there's absolutely no interest in Bradley III or Rios II; Alvarado is damaged goods. The only realistic opponent left is Provo. BUT if TR and GBP do make peace and start working together, there will be plenty of interesting options for Manny (the ones Weebler listed).

Cotto is an ATG, and he probably has the best resume of his generation in terms of opposition faced, BUT no one fights everybody and he is no exception. He never wanted any part of Paul Williams, and at 154 he basically cherrypicked his way to a fight with Floyd. There were very real threats (Dzinziruk, Vanes, Lara, Molina) at jr. middleweight during his title reign, and he didn't fight any of them. Now I know these were high risk low reward fighters, but the fact remains that they were easily better than Foreman, a washed up Mayorga and a one-eyed Margo. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Cotto was a ducker at any point. He is the closest thing to a take on all comers warrior in this era. I'm merely pointing out that even he didn't fight everyone that mattered. No one does.

Mares had already said he was gonna move up, and fought Ponce at 126 around the same time Rigo schooled Donaire, and we all know what happened to Mares 1 more fight after that Ponce fight. So effectively Mares wasn't and as far as I know isn't a 122 pounder anymore. The question was about 1 division after all. True, but if voicing the intention to move up means you have already moved up, then Leo Santa Cruz was already a 122 pounder when Rigo beat Donaire. And Rigo didn't beat him, either. Btw I know it's just a technicality, and I don't think it makes Rigo less of a "true champion" at 122. I'm half nitpicking here.

Marquez had a good run at LW some years back; Diaz, Katsidis, and Casa all by stoppage. Only one he missed at the time was Campbell. Pretty big miss as Campbell was unified champ and beat Diaz before JMM. There was also Brandon Rios.

I'm not saying it was against the rules or that Rigo should have been DQ'd. But it WAS a cheap shot, and a completely unnecessary one at that. It's not worth making a fuss about as Rigo would have won easily anyway, but let's be real, people. It WAS unsportsmanlike, stop making excuses for Rigo.

I don't know about the last 30 years, but since I started really following boxing (around 8 years ago)... I would say David Haye. Too bad he didn't have the technique to make the most of his incredible talent.

Rigo, Ward, WKlitschko but more challengers always pop up so you cant really ever completely clean out. Theres always gonna be that 1 more guy. Rigo didn't clean out anything. He did beat the consensus best fighter at 122, but cleaning out a division means beating everyone that matters (or at least beating the guy who beat them). And Mares very much mattered at the time.

you are wrong, the wladimir has not beat wilder, stiverne, fury, jennings, apple, chisora, ruiz, and others although i am sure he shall beat these guys after fulfilling mandated obligations but still he hasn't done it yet. The andre ward has not beat groves, chavez, dirrel and is using the promoter conflict for a good excuse to avoid the dangerous fighters/ moving up to fight adonis, kovalev, hopkins no fighter has cleaned out. You are nitpicking, man. By your logic no one even cleaned out any division. There are always new contenders. Groves and Jr. emerged after Ward had cleaned out the SMW division. As for Dirrell, he beat the guy who beat the guy (and no, Froch vs Dirrell was no robbery) and one-upped Dirrell vs Abraham. That has to be good enough, no one fights literally everyone. And what does not wanting to fight the best 175 pounders have to do with whether he cleaned out the 168 division or not? Wlad's situation is a little trickier because he had to share the few worthy HW challengers with his brother. Between them they did beat everyone that mattered: Byrd, Brock, Brewster, Haye, Chagaev, Chambers, Pov, Adamek, Arreola, Gomez. They didn't fight Valuev and Ruiz, but again, Wlad beat the guy who beat these to (Haye). The contenders you listed emerged later. To answer OP's question: maybe Darchinyan at 115. He beat Kirilov, Mijares (P4P player at the time), Arce and a couple of other decent guys. He didn't fight Montiel though.

How is Broner a mental midget? He took his beating like a man and never stopped trying. Judah would have quit in a fight like that.

If the Collazo fight is any indication, not any more. But that's alright. He already has a fanbase, and his fans want him to be successful, not exciting.
