Pretty good prophecy.
Kindelan: Khan is overrated
Last updated at 12:53 11 May 2005
Olympic lightweight champion Mario Kindelan says expectations of Amir Khan are unrealistic and insists he will beat him again in their rematch on Saturday.
Khan, 18, takes on the legendary Cuban in what may prove the youngster's final fight as an amateur before moving into the professional ranks.
The bout is taking place at the Reebok Stadium in his home town of Bolton this weekend.
But Kindelan, 33 - who retired following victory against Khan in Athens last summer only to change his mind - insists he will show up his young opponent in front of what is expected to be a huge TV audience.
"Khan should stay amateur," Kindelan said. "He does not have a good chin and he does not punch hard. He's not as good as British people think. They make him out to be better than he is.
"I hurt him but he did not hurt me. I'm coming to Britain to beat him again, of course."
Kindelan also claimed the young Lancastrian will fail to live up to his potential when he goes professional.
"I don't think he will make a good pro," he added. "He doesn't have the style to be a top professional."
But Khan hit back, saying: "I'm confident I'm going to beat Mario Kindelan this time. He's never hurt me. His timing is perfect but he is not a big puncher."
Kindela won in the Olympics that year but even that match khan was coming on near the end but ran out of rounds. Not taking anything a way from kindela he was countering khan well in that fight but khan was tightening up the gap near the end.
Yes because what counts is the amount of years Kindelan was at home not training 1-3 and not my main point all of the Khan fans ran away from like roaches...cants say im surprised just like your man when you get hurt you turn tail and run

:lol1:
LOOOOOOL
YOU ******, did you just own yourself? wtfffff
wow the intellect here is ridiculous.
In terms of the chin, Kindelan was right but Khan is hardly overrated, just off the top of my mind, Khan has beaten 6 former, current or future champions, held two belts at 140 and was the leading guy there before Gracia KOd him. Hardly call him overrated now.
No kidding.
His accomplishments mean a lot more given his chin is crystal. So, Alexander beating Maidana was great, but Khan doing it means a lot more given the circumstances.
Rematch wtf? Kindelan was retired he came out of retirement from to fight Khan look it up here's the quote those are facts.
" In May 2005, aged 34, he came out of retirement and travelled to Bolton, England for a third fight with Amir Khan. He had beaten Khan twice already the previous year ***8211; in the Pre-Olympic tournament and the Olympic Lightweight final"
He must have gotten a pretty penny for getting of his couch for that Khan was damn near obsessed with the guy.

Khan is overrated He does not have a good chin
This sentence makes no sense. Is Khan overrated or his chin? Or Khan is overrated, because his chin is overrated? Or Khan is overrated because having bad chin makes you overrated?
Khan is many things, but over rated. You don't come back from career ending KO losses only to get better each time. Over rated fighters are never the same or go back to fighting bums.
Kindelan was a great amateur, but his opinion on pro boxing is just that (amateur).
Khan is overrated He does not have a good chin

From 2004-2005 amounts to 3 years? :pat:
So, this actually never happened and is a simulation? :lol1:
That is two fails in one thread. :bottle:
:lol1: Get em
Mario was nice to Khan he cameback 3 years after retirement after beating Khan for a gold medal just for 1 fight to let Khan get 1 win over him finally he was so obsessed with Kindelan he wouldn't turn pro unless he got that damn match even 3 years after the dude was done :lol1:
From 2004-2005 amounts to 3 years? :pat:
He didn't take the 1 million because it was to turn pro...as in leave your family become a traitor to your country and never be allowed back, that was not the case with Khan it was just 1 more insignificant am fight and we both know Khan family has the mullah .
I didn't say he threw it anyway dumb dumb, but he sure got paid to go, he knew it didn't mean sh*t anymore he was done, and it wasn't for any medal or of any significance its not like Kindelan hadn't ever lost an amateur fight before or was undefeated, so why else would he unretire when he was not planning to, so why go all the way to England to the guys backyard for 1 more amateur fight of no meaning to him if not for money you imbecile ? It meant nothing at all whatsoever he had 0 reasons for doing if not money. It was worth it tho just show up let the kid rest in peace and leave. You obviously werent even watching boxing by then because you seem to be so ignorant or just too infatuated with King of Bambi legs Khan.
Look at Khan eyeballing Kindelan's gold medal

Cause he was embarrassed that a 16 year old kid Khan nearly beat him in the pre Olympics and gave a competitive fight in the Olympics final, He said he would beat him in front of him home crowd England, instead got schooled and Failed :lol1:
obviously you're a cuban so you're pissed :lol1:
To deny Khan was a tremendous Amateur and Olympic talent is silly.
Bash him all you want...But he was a beast in the amateurs.
Perfectly suited style & most important (for a 17 year old) CONFIDENCE. Like no other... Still to this day he is confident as fck despite getting Floored numerous times. Khan is hard to beat in 4 rounders and was the only one who came close to beating Kindalan in pre olympics finals, he lost by a fair margin in the olympics and schooled Kindalan just 8 months later, its silly to say that Kindalan was past its prime cause he did train for that fight and rematch happened just within a year, Khan boxed superb and beat him.
Yeah competitive since Khan was in lead in early half of the fight and was just 17 fighting a 30+ year old Cuban who was already a 2 times Gold Medallist and one of the Greats in Amateur History, so did you mum tell you he received cash for letting Khan getting a win over him lmao? He was offered 1 Million to turn Pro but he refused, Khan beat him fair and square in the rematch just 9 or 10 months after their Olympic fight, Why would he hurt his legacy losing to Khan in his last Amateur fight?. Also Khan almost nearly beat him in the pre Olympic Fight ,GTFO you clueless moron.

Sh*t even Kindelan coming out of his 1 year layoff retirement did better than loosing by 8 he never unretired again so it was clear he had no intention of coming back he was done he just did Khan a solid probably got some cash for it too. You should be thankful Kindelan let the kid get his win so he could sleep in peace he was obsessed.
That being said Kindelan never said he was overrated that's the OP's doing he said nothing but good things about him, and the chin is not really a secret anymore is it.

No Khan beat the f*** out of Kindlan at 18 years old, Kindlan himself said in the post fight interview that offcourse he'll be a World Champion soon, '' If he can beat me, he can beat anybody'', He never really disrespected Khan.
Also the fight at Olympics final was competitive.

Good prophecy? More like a big fail.
As a pro, Khan was a unified titlist, beat a bunch of good names and is probably one win away from getting a crack at the P4P king. Hardly what I would call a failure.
All these comments proved is that Kindelan is a jealous, bitter a-hole, like Rigo, Gamboa and Lara.
Over-rated by whom, exactly? If you told me a 17 year old boxer has won silver at the Olympic games, as a boxing fan, i would also be keen and excited about him.
Kindelan was talking about Khan's chin and punching power when he was a teenager. It's odd to see Kindelan downplay Khan's achievement when he had access to some of the finest amateur coaches and one of the best amateur system in place.
