That white girl is no joke, plus an extensive Amatuer career and a tough pro career. I'm a true believer, that an extensive Amatuer career can be as harmful on the body/mind as a extensive pro career. Their are many past greats with long pro careers and litte Amatuer careers but still have their mind but the mm with a long Amatuer career and shorter pro career have lost their mental/body health. Prime example is Archie Moore. Marciano went 49-0 going all out in fights with less than 20 Amatuer fights and before he past away tragically spoke and looked physically well(outside of gaining weight).
what im saying, if they've have had such good amatuer background why wait till they beat someone good in their 15-20th bouts? just off the bat have these great amatuers in with pacquiao, or floyd etc, just throw them to the wolves, they need not prove their worth in the pro's, they've done enough in the AM's
maybe we'll even witness champs with only 5 fights etc, boxing will be ufc! yay!
Your almost saying a fighter shouldn't get a title fight till late in a career. So people who choose to stay in amateur ranks to try to win the Olympics, should subjugate themselves to even more damage to themselves by waiting till late in their pro career to get a big fight. Damn your stupid. Floyd won his first title in 18 fights, Pernell in 18, De La Hoya in 12. These dudes are now known as some of the greatest. Donaire which suprises me a fan of boxing wouldn't know got his first title shot at 18-1 and with 68 amateur wins. he sure deserved his title shot more than Rigo!
Learn Facts, so you don't look like a hypocrite.
Both have had truely great careers. Roy with his unstoppable rain going 50-0 if you do not count his DQ. While BHOP had his 20 title defenses at middle weight. Both proved to be.two of the best fighters of the 90's; Roy moving from junior-middleweight to heavyweight and BHOP from 20 middleweight title defenses to becoming the oldest man to win a legit title!
Put yourself in Donaire's shoes. Would you fight a no name with only 12 fights? There's no logical reason to take the fight, no matter what the fans want. Donaire kicks his ass regardless.
That is just stupid, that statement is! Why fight a 2 time Olympic! gold medalistk? what a stupid question!
I sure am... The fact the first fight Morales didn't look in shape at all in their first fight and age truely showing. It is a pointless match for Garcia but means something to Morales... another beating!
Sounds like a joke when it is said Donaire would out class the 2 time Olympic champ and possibly best amateur fighter of all time. If anything Donaire would have to be so unconventional to even confuse the guy, but with over 400 amateur fights; I dont see Rigo getting frustrated or concerned with skill!
right on, anyone with a good AM background should not be allowed to pad their records and earn their sht in the pro's, they've done enough in the AM's
just throw the debuters in with the p4p best
A good Amateur background? Winning two gold medals, with over 400 fights as an amateur, and your choice for words is "Good"... Wow. Teir have been many pound for pound great who won gold, and won a title in less than 20 fights; and their background is what made them so highly regarded as the best.
Every Donaire Fan has the same excuse every time, "Amateurs Don't Mean Sh**". Yet besides fans who don't know anything outside their own world, that fight is regarded as the fight that could make or break Donaire! The sport is BOXING, not brawling, their is technique involved and that is why Donaire for the most part is criticized because of lack of boxing fundamentals!
Anyone who disregards amateur boxing is simply a man who never stepped in the ring. So for absolutely anyone who talks down on amateur boxing and worst of all the greatest behind Mario Kindelan in amateur boxing I completely disregard all of your comments as people who may study the sport and are good at reading the sport but in actuality don't know diddly squat about it. Respect to any and all posters who have actually boxed in their lives and I'm not talking sparring. Sparring is sparring. I'm talking about actually got in the ring and fought. Fu(%ing couch athletes talking on here.
Well said!
It is staight ignorance to say amateurs have no relevance to pro... It is completely contradictory to the fact!
well... That's the step up everybody wanted to see.... Except it might be too big of a step
Fury in my eyes is a knockout waiting to happen, dude got dropped by little Steve Cunningham and is as uncoordinated as a new born.
As big as a hype job as Price!
No one affects my views on a fighter. I am unbiased towards all fighters, that has nothing to do with wanting a fighter to lose to stick it to their fans and hope they one day see beyond the homerism and accept reality (If it differs from their extreme opinions, as it usually does).
You can be a fan/support an up and coming fighter without spewing ridiculous exaggerations and lies about them.
Look up unbiased before throwing the word out. Your being biased towards a fighter because of his fans, grow up buddy!
This is a do or die fight for Cotto, if he loses to another fight; this could be the end! I very Mich so doubt he will lose with so much on the line but Cotto has said he would not die for the sport.
The thing is Canelo is a much more all around boxer than Chavez Jr and has power. So a dangerous fight for both of them, and that is why I have a lot if respect for Sergio.
If the fight happens and Sergio wins at 154 he should be named #2 or #3 pound for pound.
Has this been confirmed, that Sergio said yes to may 5th?
I do believe it is the talk right now. Another big fight, where it could make the fight PPV and do well. And I believe Sergio is dropping to 154, if the fight occurs!
I see this fight a high risk and high reward for both fights. If Canelo would win he beat the middle weight king. If Sergio were to win, he shows age is still not a factor for him.
Im personally a fan of both fighters, but if Canelo where to Connect, it could make Sergio Sleep. Canelo has the speed Chavez Jr, doesn't have, the same power, and good boxing ability.
I do believe Sergio is contemplating that fight because a fight with Floyd is not in his Cards!
When Robinson was Champ at welterweight he went years where he would fight 10 times a year... something unheard of with champions of today.
Robinsons combinations were deadly, he had a very strong stiff jab, an granite chin and all mixed with power speed and boxing iq. Unfortunately for pac, Robinson was far from an any individual he has ever fought.
Robinson by mid KO
The haters are out in full force tonight. What you dumbasses dont understand is that athletes get BETTER over time not worse. Robinson would be trash if he fought in todays era. Fighters with SUPER nutrition, SUPERIOR training, SUPERIOR strategies. Sorry but most of you have NEVER seen Robinson fight. Watch some videos of him with his slow ass right hooks and jabs. In ROBINSONS time maybe he was the GOAT. But in todays era he wouldn't be nearly as good I GUARANTEE IT. Hell even Mayweather beats Robinson. Manny would edge Robinson, split decision style. I ain't saying Robinson can't win but it'll be a lot closer than what you tards think. Are we all going to forget Robinson lost NINETEEN times lol.
I give you there is a big difference in nutrition and training but strategically nothing has changed much. As I said before boxers didn't fight 2 or 3 times a year but 8 or sometimes 10 times a year; also the older boxers are a different breed and in my view a much tougher breed as well. And to say Robinson had slow hooks, jabs or anything of that notion is ridiculous. People can say watch his fights but unfortunately their isn't a great deal of video. I give pac the advantage in speed but their is a huge difference in power, and chins. People act as if pacman has an invincible trait, he was never truly thought as invincible with loses early in his career (KO'S by body shots), lose to Morales, and now a big KO lose to Marquez. Robinson went 40 in a row undefeated before losing to Lamotta. Which he later went on to later beat (×4) and going on to win 88 bouts without a lose. Of all 19 loses he only lost once by KO(TKO). The man went undefeated at welterweight in all those 88 bouts. The man was a monster! Put him here today and give him the "superior nutrition and superior training" the man would look even more unstoppable!!! At welterweight or Middleweight or even to light heavyweight
There is no such thing as a Mexican model... You mean european spawned women who happen to live in Mexico? Have you SEEN a REAL Mexican woman?
Btchs all like like George Lopez.
Fack outta here with your bs.
Man, learn your own history before you criticize another... While you talk about blacks and whites when your culture is spawned from both. Just like Mexicans! calm yourself down because your insults make you sound just as stupid as James Toney!
A draw in a record in not an unblemished record... Saying that, Marciano is the only American BOXER to Retire undefeated. Do I think Mayweather Retires with the same record?..yes. Does he comes back and win a big 50th?.. I don't think so.
Both have no amateur back rounds, but Canelo has a lot more potential and his skills are becoming more apparent every fight.
I wouldn't say Chavez has faught better opposition, in fact I would say about the same for the exception of Chavez finally fighting Martinez. Except for that Canelo has a much brighter future ahead of him.
If a catch-weight fight occurred, I believe Canelo would KO Junior. Huge difference in power and doped; Canelo punchs threw his opponents head, not just at them!
do you have Jersey Joe Walcott in your top 10?
Haha... No I dont!
1. Joe Louis
2. Muhammad Ali
3. Jack Dempsey
4. Rocky Marciano
5. Mike Tyson
6. Lennox Lewis
7. George Forman
8. Jack Johnson
9. Joe Frazier
10. Wladimir Klitschko
Put Wlad at 10, make you feel better.
Really, interesting to me most boxing historians have him in the top ten, they must be wrong. Also the fact he held the title from 1919-1926!
The fact he got the title from the dude who took the title from Jack Johnson and beat dude half way to death, believe that tells me he didn't need to fight Johnson!
