pacquiao's place as this era's greatest fighter of the welterweight division is yet to be solidified. pacquiao said himself that he plans to fight for a few more years before finally hanging up his gloves and i think pacquiao would only fight in the welterweight division. at this point in time, to be realistic, what is left for pacquiao in the 147 weight class other than mayweather. who better to face pacquiao than the greatest welterweight of all time, sugar ray robinson.
no need for introductions but for those who've lived under a rock for the past century, robinson was untouchable in the welterweight division and beat 15 hall of famers during his boxing career. he had deadly accuracy especially with his right hand and was a very methodical genius in the ring.
as for pacquiao, he has all the qualities of an ATG but mostly would have an edge in the speed and volume punching department against robinson.
as the bell rings, pacquiao will be the aggressor and would take a page right out of the lamotta-robinson 2 fight. from the opening bell up until the middle rounds, both fighters will have their moments with pacquiao throwing a hundred punches per round while robinson uses his ring IQ and reach to try to catch pacquiao coming in. both fighters having an iron chin, sustains a back and forth exchange with no clear winner. in the late rounds, as the pace slows down, robinson gradually inches ahead of the score cards. knowing this, pacquaio lets loose a barrage of 5-8 punch combinations and tries to land a big shot but to no avail. as the final bell rings, the winner is declared and robinson wins by split decision.

He at his best still looks like a 30s-40s fighter, yet crazy idiots have said the quote for years. If we had more footage, we would be even more amazed. This looks still like the 30s-40s fighter, and in no way does he look close to even an amateur 70s-90s fighter.
So where did it ever come from he would beat Manny at?, as I said looks novice and no one ever even made pro fighting like that even in manny amateur time
https://youtu.be/L5OpSAlxqAE?si=JDgP6gTbj8zlfI-- Here is Ray more advanced than in his young years, keeping distance more, using more angles, not as sloppy, better defense still looks like a novice though
only lunatics who watched highlights said SRR would win, he looks like a novice even in his prime in those vids, everyone who picked SRR is a crazy idiot every last one he looks horrible as I said
Here is Pac in his skinny low 100s class
https://youtu.be/wilLVJew380?si=-nMe5gN64vEYHGJu he he is more advanced even at that weight than the whole srr era
https://youtu.be/q9Fk7okFYGs?si=nimcx95l5tzYpzAV Here he is in the class he would be destroying SRR at, Manny here is even way more advanced than when he was in the '90s, even the person he is fighting is way more advanced than the whole srr era
I give you there is a big difference in nutrition and training but strategically nothing has changed much. As I said before boxers didn't fight 2 or 3 times a year but 8 or sometimes 10 times a year; also the older boxers are a different breed and in my view a much tougher breed as well. And to say Robinson had slow hooks, jabs or anything of that notion is ridiculous. People can say watch his fights but unfortunately their isn't a great deal of video. I give pac the advantage in speed but their is a huge difference in power, and chins. People act as if pacman has an invincible trait, he was never truly thought as invincible with loses early in his career (KO'S by body shots), lose to Morales, and now a big KO lose to Marquez. Robinson went 40 in a row undefeated before losing to Lamotta. Which he later went on to later beat (×4) and going on to win 88 bouts without a lose. Of all 19 loses he only lost once by KO(TKO). The man went undefeated at welterweight in all those 88 bouts. The man was a monster! Put him here today and give him the "superior nutrition and superior training" the man would look even more unstoppable!!! At welterweight or Middleweight or even to light heavyweight
the men back then also had the luxury of real food and not genetically modified foods. they were more manly, their wasnt estrogen in their foods and plastic cups... ray punched too hard, i dont even see this as a fair match. if pac had better defense he could do good but his defense is his offense which leaved him open and off balance. i think Ray would KO him from what ive seen
The haters are out in full force tonight. What you dumbasses dont understand is that athletes get BETTER over time not worse. Robinson would be trash if he fought in todays era. Fighters with SUPER nutrition, SUPERIOR training, SUPERIOR strategies. Sorry but most of you have NEVER seen Robinson fight. Watch some videos of him with his slow ass right hooks and jabs. In ROBINSONS time maybe he was the GOAT. But in todays era he wouldn't be nearly as good I GUARANTEE IT. Hell even Mayweather beats Robinson. Manny would edge Robinson, split decision style. I ain't saying Robinson can't win but it'll be a lot closer than what you tards think. Are we all going to forget Robinson lost NINETEEN times lol.

this reminded me of an article, so here it is, about southpaws, you'll get some information aswell as a laugh here and there
http://coxscorner.tripod.com/southpaws.html
THe thing is SRR fought every possible opponent around his weight limit. He regularly fought people outweighing him by quite a lot.
Pac at his prime was insane though. He was not that easy to hit, like people are suggesting. He would slip in and out, quite a bit.
Still, SRR's footwork, power, boxing, hooks and those straight shots, should mean he would beat Pac, perhaps even easily. But SRR does appear to be the greatest.
Except Charlie Burley and the black murderers row~ Ray Robinson wasn't about fighting those guys
dunno, never seen robinson against anyone that fast, or a southpaw
i doubt it would be easy for either one

Ray Robinson is a way bigger man than Manny and that is what it really comes down to.
Manny 5'6" 67" reach
Ray Robinson 5'11" 72.5" reach
That is straight up not even fair.
Weird idea for a matchup. I don't think of Pacquaio as a true welterweight. His frame is tiny. He's a 135 or a 140 guy fundamentally, who's moved up to take on greater challenges and more opportunity -- just as SRR moved up for similar reasons to MW, where he was great, but no longer invincible.
I don't see Pac Man beating the best welters such as SRR, Leonard, Hearns...or Mayweather. Or Duran for that matter, though he was a true LW.
"know your limits.... Master Pac"
Robinson TKO..... just in my opinion.
But level of competition in todays game is a totally different animal.
2009 Manny would have torn the world a new one if he was in SRR's era....
SRR would leave Pacquiao lifeless body in pool of his own blood......the phillipines would be in a state of mourning. I would laugh at every pacf@g...and lol@anyone who thinks pacquiao would ever step into the ring with SRR.
