roy jones jr and its not even close.
This right here. He was by far the best for 15 years straight. He could go to any weight class and dominate one of there champions. Bernard was never the best. Floyd was always considered better. Pac was considered better. Roy was better than either of those guys in his Prime. 15 years is a long time to be dominant. Hopkins has been really good for 20 years which is unbeleivable. Roy was the best by far for 15. I like being by far the best for 15 over really good for 20.
Roy at his best was a pleasing fighter to watch. He mixed boxing with some fighting skills and when he was a hungry fighter he came to win.
Hopkins was also very good as a young fighter but developed a defensive non agressor style as his career developed and thats not a pleasing style to me!
I accept fighters who have lost in their latter years when their desire to fight may not be in their best interests! It doesn't deminish who they were as high caliber fighters, it simply means they fought out of their prime, big deal!
Only fans consider losses as a failure or shamefull hahahaha!!
I'll take Roy over Bernard because of his style, he was exciting! Ray.
Roy has a prime Toney and a prime BHop on his resume
And he beat BHop with literally one hand
Was truly unbeatable at super middleweight and had the fastest hands in the history of the sport coupled with the best reflexes overall in boxing history
But his decline really hurt him a lot, especially his late career KO losses
BHop's bests wins are over smaller guys and he lost to Roy in his prime
Because Roy Jones, Leonard and Hagler are famous fighters with mainstream appeal. That is to say, the casual fans only know about them and are retarded enough to compare them
Leonard was a welterweight at his best and Hagler was 1 or 2 divisions below Roy's prime weight, depending on who you ask.
For the record, people ask the same questions about BHop. So that's not any indication at all.
The funny thing is that Roy Jones was not even a huge PPV draw.
Jones...if Hopkins had beat Toney in his prime in the same manner Jones beat Hopkins & Toney in his prime i'd rank them about even. Jones being floored is bad but atleast he was fighting, even as a Hopkins fan his antics towards the end of trying to get breaks and rest in all his big PPV fights including against way past it Jones in that rematch, is somewhat of a stain on his legacy just as Jones being floored is to his legacy.
Victories over Hopkins and Toney speak for themselves for Roy. B-Hop is great but some of his best victories came against smaller opponents such as Trinidad and De La Hoya.
It would be BHOP. He has the better resume.....and if the fighter of the decade was awarded for the decade 1996-2005, Bhop would have won that award hands down.
like losing twice to a future bum Jermain Taylor?
