Amir Khan is a fantastic boxer. Phenomenol speed and power and VERY entertaining. He's also a ****ing nice guy yet people in this country wanted to see him get KTFO so bad.
I dont think people realise the amount of shit Khan has really done for the country. Not only did he win us a silver medal at the olympics at only 17 hes probably the most famous British muslim in the country who speaks out against terrorism and has gone through a lot of crap for it. A large amount of people in the muslim community have slandered him for being so patriotic to the union jack. This guy had to once leave the arena straight after his fight because there was scares that some radical muslims were gonna try bomb him!
AND he is only 21! He has a glass jaw no doubt but maybe that will change slightly as he gets older as well as improving his defense. People that say "Khan only fights bums" dont know shit about boxing. Hes fought better opposition in his first 19 fights than practically EVERY world champion.
He took a risk against an undefeated boxer who had KO'd all but 2 of his opponents. Yeah he got KO'd but he took that risk and showed a lot of heart trying hard to get off the canvas twice.

I maybe with the minority here but im a firm believer in you don't quit no matter what...this "no mas" bullshit don't jive with me...but I do agree 100% that the safety of the fighter comes firts...but that's what the corner, ref, and docs at ring side are for...the corner needs to know their figher...they need to know that by the time most fighters decide to quit it maybe too late...perfect example is the Hatton Maglinine (sp) fight....Yeah doode got pissed that his manager stoped the fight but he didn't look like a puss-e and saved a bit of grace by not quitting...I lose repect for those who quit in the ring...maybe they should have some signal or something they can give to their corner so they know when to call the fight without the boxer actually having to quit infront of all the cameras and all their fans...

Nobody had really heard of him in the UK. Only hardcore boxing fans really knew about Calzaghe. He used to fight on Sky all the time against randoms. Calzaghe was very much like Carl Froch is now.
Then after the Lacy fight the media jumped on his ass and then all the UK fans jumped on the bandwagon too just because hes british. The difference is the American fans question, and rightfully so, just how good he is. He has more of a "blind" following from British fans.
What a piece of garbage Calzaghe must be, showing absolutely NO CLASS at all as he slap boxed his way to victory over a past his prime great champion. Roy Jones deserved a bit of respect for the guttiest performance of his life, but all that I will remember about this fight is how Calzaghe choose to act like a complete and total fool for the majority of the fight. I hope you are all proud of your countryman....

In my opinion Joe Calzaghe is a GREAT fighter. However, he doesn't have the career to back up his abilities which leaves him in a Roy Jones-type situation the only difference being Roy Jones whooped his opponents by a landslide and in style. Calzaghe hasn't always done that.
Either way after tomorrow night Calzaghe is either gonna be a bum that beat an over the hell Roy or finally he will be proven as overrated.

The promotion is just gathering a little bit of pace over here in england, Problem is Joe C is from Wales so the atmosphere here in england isnt like the Hatton/Mayweather fight which was something else, The way the fight was promoted was brilliant Hatton was his usual self while Mayweather was totally into the whole thing, Thats why the fight did great over here and i doubt the Calzaghe/Jones fight would do that well over here.

Both of them should retire for different reasons. Hopkins' reason being that he doesn't have many fights left in him and this would be the perfect note to end his career on and Jones' reason being he is completely shot and is just an embarrassment out there now, like a musician from the 50s or 60s who's old and no longer can sing for shit and everyone feels bad that he's still doing concerts.
But a lot of people have wanted to see this fight for a long time
I think it would be a great way for both of them to leave the sport.
