Bernard Hopkins' biggest fans has passed away from an aggressive form Brain Cancer, reports Bernard Fernandez of philly.com. Shaun Negler, who was just 18 years of age, passed away in his sleep last Thursday from the cancer.
Shaun's parents are convinced that he held onto life long enough to watch his biggest hero, Hopkins, fight and defeat Kelly Pavlik. A few months back, Doctors gave Shaun no more than 2 weeks to live before he
would sucumb to brain cancer.
Hopkins who got to know Shaun and visited with him before his death, tells Philly.com in regards to Shaun: "If you told somebody Shaun's story, they wouldn't believe it. But whatever you believe in, whomever you bow your head to, his life is proof that we should never question God."
In a very touching gesture from Hopkins, Shaun's casket will be placed with the gloves and hand wraps Hopkins wore in his fight with Pavlik bout. The Funeral will be held tomorrow and Hopkin will attend and serve as a pallbearer for.
In regards to the gloves and hand wraps Hopkins will place in the casket, Hopkins stated to the publication: "Having something of mine that will be with Shaun forever means a lot. I think about him every day. He was my biggest fan. And you know what? I'm his biggest fan, now and always."

I've been M.I.A. on here a bit, beautiful story there.
I guess that pretty much shits on the people here who call Hopkins a heartless, racist asshole who only cares about money.
R.I.P. Shaun.
damn r.i.p/////////if you didnt feel that storie you're not human

:hijacked::beerchug:
Here's a more detailed article if anyone cares to read it:
I just tried reading this out loud to my girl......well lets just say that wasn't the strongest move:lol1:.......Its hard not to feel overwhelmed by emotion.
Bernard is the GREATEST!!!!!
Hopkins is an idiot at times with what he said to the cancer society...
However its clear he was just wound up about Taylor. You can tell deep down Hopkins has his heart in the right place and its so nice that he took a keen interest in his fans life. He could have gave the guy a pair of his gloves and never see him again but he actually became involved with his fan and spent time with him. That shows Hopkins' true character.
Very sad indeed you can say what you want about Hopkins, he has had his dry moments but this is touching. Everyone has moments were they look emotionless but this shows that Hopkins has a good heart. I got chocked up reading this. RIP
It was:
"Fuck the american cancer society. Go have Jermain sign with him"
I did wonder about that too, but it's obvious that Bernard cares about this kid so I won't shit on it
yeah i didnt remember the exact quote thanks for that........:luvbed:

Please elaborate as to why you're being such a douchebag.
Hopkins was supposed to attend a Cancer society meeting at the request of Ring Magazine, but after he lost to Taylor, he basically told the ring magazine:
"Fuck the cancer society, strip Taylor and i go, otherwise have Taylor go"........Thats a douchebag right there, but you can keep praising him......
so is this guy different from the guys of the cancer society who hop said **** you to, or what?.....
RIP Shaun.....i feel sorry that your death has been somewhat exploited by that guys hypocrisy....

This is a very touching story....... R.I.P Sean
Hopkins is such a great human being, you know he has a great heart to do what he did most people would've sent him an autograph and that's it.
The second, more detailed story made me choke up.
I know I'm young but having a child myself really changes your perpective on life, I can't even imagine what Sean or his family went through.
