The first thought that comes to mind was Prince Naseem Hamed when he danced for like 15 mins to a few songs against kevin Kelley.. then came out and Ko'd him.
Has Tyson done something crazy on his come out?
Mayweathers backwards mexican HAT?
Real Question is could Boxing USE someone like Naseem Hamed again? Because like him or not his entrances were good for fans especially with him knocking people out left and right.. and yes even the soup cans he knocked out.
Cory Spinks entrance with Young Joc, by far the best ring entrance of all time.
Andrew Golota
Ricardo Mayorga
Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Ricky Hatton
Kostya Tszyu
Wladimir Klitschko
Vitali Klitschko
John Ruiz
John Duddy
Rocky Juarez
Juan Diaz
Juan Manuel Marquez
Bernard Hopkins
Micky Ward
Ken Norton
Mike Tyson
I hope it's Lamps, Larry and Manny on the call that night.that night.. My g/f is hoping for Lampley, Manny...and Max.. ?? lol
HBO is only showing the Cotto fight that night right? Either way, I'm excited to see that Korobov on the undercard..
Man, Clottey is gonna be really hungry for this one.. Miguel may have his hands full.. a new trainer in the mix too??
Idk how you're getting there, but a word of advice, try taking any train in Manhattan to Penn Station, it's actually a part of Madison Square Garden, when you get off at Penn Station follow signs to MSG, and it's upstairs. It's quite convienient. I went to a Bobcats-Knicks game there about a month ago with my girlfriend, very cool.
Yo.. anybody here ever been to a big fight at the Garden? just got my tickets to Cotto Clottey and it will be my first time up there.. Anything I should know? when i need to get there..how long they sell beer for..etc ..
I'm in Section 126 off the corner of the ring.. anybody sat there before?
I hear the atmosphere is gonna be crazy..any insight would be appreciated..
peace!!!:boxing:
Words cannot describe it....
I went to my first fight ever back in November of 2004, Night of the Heavyweights.
Golota vs. Ruiz
Byrd vs. Mccline
Rahman vs. Meehan
Holyfield vs. Donald
I had $1200 seats, my dad got four free tickets because he built the scale that the weigh ins were conducted on. He got to chill with Don King and all the fighters. The fight was probably the best night of my life. Enjoy yourself, there's nowhere in the world like the garden on fight night.
Not sure about legend in the making.. I like JD but I don't see the point of beating the likes of Eastman only to go on and fight someone like Lyell.. No wonder the tickets are cheap.. I think this is a step backwards at an important stage of his career.. I'd rather have seen him fight another prospect like Andy Lee.. Many Irish fighters go to the States in order to gain better experience, but end up being steriofied as crowd pleasers without gaining any significant belts.. Mickey Ward & Pat Lawler come to mind.. This is why Steve Collins came home & cleaned up..
Anyway.. All said, I wish him every success & I hope you have a great night.. Hope your girlfriend isn't too squeemish, as ya man does tend to cut up a bit...
Yeah, I agree with all of your post there. I was looking through his record today, and I can't believe how he is turning out. A few months back he was in The Ring Magazine's top 10 lists for middleweights, but this isn't really going the best for him. The tickets are from $253 bucks to $38...a fighter of his caliber should be selling tickets at MSG, not at the prodential center in Newark, NJ. I'm just going to take the oppurtunity to see him at a smaller venue, it'll still be cool, but i'd rather see him undercarding a big event. Kind of a disappointment if you ask me, I hope that he fights bigger names and actuallys proves himself in the division.
There is that thread called "Boxing books that would Never Sell." ( http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1591312#post1591312 )
well what about books that WOULD sell???
1. "How to get the message across that you want to rape a female reporter" - By Mike Tyson
Clearly, im not as good at it as some of you other guys are, but u get the idea...
 HAHA!
"I never thought i'd live this long, or fornicate with as many beautiful women as I have"
MY FAVORITES
1. Ricardo Mayorga- Underated, More heart than any fighters, exciting
2. Oleg Maskaev- Climbed through the heavyweight ranks twice
3. Erik Morales- Rough patches, but nonetheless amazing
4. John Duddy- Undefeated, will be for awhile
5. Tomasz Adamek- Tough break in last fight, a warrior
6. Diego Corrales- Fight of the year participant
7. Jermain Taylor- I just like him because
8. Rocky Juarez- Good
9. Juan Diaz- Also Good
10. Kermit Cintron- I know him
HATED
1. John Ruiz- Just quit fighting already
2. Nicolay Valuev- You're big, and you should've lost to Mccline
3. Floyd Mayweather Jr.- You're a cry baby, I hope you get knocked out
4. Manny Pacquiao- Just hate you
He probably gots bothered constantly by his fans, you're lucky you even got a picture with him. His wife knows your a fan and shes nice, but he is probably also nice but you have to put yourself in his shoes. He probably gets mobbed on a daily basis with fans such as yourself no offense. And I'm sure you might have met a boxer before who was more pleasent but cotto could have been having a bad day. Just because he makes millions of dollars doesn't mean he can't have a bad day.
But your average person doesn't know Miguel Cotto, boxing fans anymore are a rare breed, so I would think the dude is just an asshole.
My first reply ever is to this story about assholes in boxing. People that I have met in boxing that where nice to me when i met them top ten
1. Floyd Mayweather jr.
2. Chris Byrd
3. Antonio Margarito
4. Felix tito Trinidad
5. Rocky Juarez
6. Wladimir Klitschko
7. Shane Mosley
8. Vitali Klitschko
9. Hasim Rahman
10. Vernon Forrest
Mayweather believe it or not is a very nice guy along with the rest of these guys they treated me with respect when i approached them for a signature or photo.
Assholes top 5
1. Bernard Hopkins
2. Zab Judah
3. Nate Campbell
4. Marco Antonio Barrera
5. Sergio Mora
Just my own personal opinion. Hopkins told me that "Mr. Hopkins is not speaking to the public"
Even though I enjoy watching fighters like Barrera and Campbell I was mad at how they think that they are better than the general public.
I would expect nothing less of Judah after his post fight antics he pulled with the referee against Tszyu.
Hey billy, it's about 3:30pm here in the Philippines and I have to attend my class so talk to you later my man.
I'm home now my friend, and just PM me whenever you are online. Take it easy.
Very happy to see some new faces in NSB and alot of support for Mayorga makes me smile. Since i've been here, I can only remember of one other guy besides myself who was behind Mayorga. Love him or hate him, it's a fact that he's an entertaining fighter, and a brawler among other things.
Who was the only other Mayorga fan ATWA?
I believe it was Memorex, there are probably alot more who I just didn't know of, but NSB was not as popuated as it is now in 2004.
I don't even really care anymore. I just want him to get in there and knock people out ... If it's Mosley, then Shane Mosley is getting knocked out.
I agree with you. Mayorga, Golota, Duddy. My top 3 fighters. Always.
Sam Peter must like old opponents. :nonono:
That's a total of five fights in a row against men 36 or older, four of which were 38 or older!
Fighting a few veterans would be okay, but he should fight a prime age opponent once in awhile! I was hoping Povetkin would get Golota, after having faced a young, difficult opponent in Chambers. I was hoping Peter would fight one of my favorite heavyweights, Travis Walker, who I think would put him on the canvas.
Peter will win another TKO against a shot old opponent for his first title defense. :ugh:
Being a veteran doesn't mean an immediate loss against a younger fighter automatically. Oleg Maskaev and Hasim Rahman are argueably two of the best heavyweights in the division as of now, and are veterans of the sport.
- Maskaev in the fight with Peter looked VERY old and shot, compared to in his fight with Rahman.
- Golota's best was around the time he fought Bowe, he's way past it.
- McCline was probably at his peak around the time he defeated Briggs, he's slowing down.
- Toney was definitely not the same in his last three fights, as he was in the 90s and early 00s.
Some fighters past 35 are still very good - examples are Foreman, Hopkins, Calzaghe and Ruiz. But Peter's above mentioned opponents have all seriously declined.
I agree, Golota beating Peter would be more than an upset. Your list is all good, excluding Ruiz, he's a paper champion and Golota beat him. I saw that fight in person, and it was brutal.
nobody would do anything to anyone because we would all realize that anonymous beef with strangers isnt worth the jailtime, thus yall would meet up and shake hands and realize there arent too many fans who give a fuck about boxing on the level that we do.
Couldn't agree with you more, it's funny, because around where i'm from, i'm pretty much the only boxing enthusiast around, this is the outlet to my sport for me.
Andrew Golota baby, my all time favorite fighter, can't wait to see his name up against an actually decent fighter. You can't screw a fighter out of a knockout, so Golota by late round KO, great to have him back!
Pretty self-explanatory.
I never could see Byrd as anything more than a medicore fighter, the fact that he was awarded even a draw against Golota was a robbery. However, to answer the question, I could see it, as you said, being a heavyweight his entire career, he might be able to get some wins by knockout, now that he's facing some smaller fighters.
Golota is too old now and his handspeed has really diminished, Peter would probably take him out in the mid rounds, Golota still has a punchers chance though....I think Prime Golota beats Peter.
I agree with you there. Golota is not the fighter he once was, and if he hadn't pulled the crap he did in the Bowe fights, he would be looked upon as one of the best Heavyweights in history. Golotas failure to handle pressure, has led to some embrassing defeats, but it's hard to stay motivated when the wins you do earn aren't given to you.
Golota gimmie a break. How many title shots would that be for him?? Peter stops him in 8 in a very ugly but interesting matchup.
That's an obviously uneducated statement. Golota destroyed Riddick Bowe on two separate occasions but was disqualifed, was screwed out of a victory of both Byrd and Ruiz. The only blemishes Golota has is his 1st round knockout at the hands of Lamon Brewster, and of his quitting against Tyson. Counting Golota out of a fight against Peter is just wrong. If he trains seriously and comes prepared to fight, he could seriously hurt Peter early, and beat him.
Sounds like these phaggot haters mad cause he schooled the bannana picker.
I'll take Hatton over Castillo
Then you just declared yourself legally insane.
go get a tampon, you obviously need it.
How can you be a Tomasz Adamek fan and a Lamon Brewster fan? Golota and Adamek are huge polish fighters, and after the embarassment Brewster handed Golota, Adamek and Brewster should not be in the same category.
