- Maskaev in the fight with Peter looked VERY old and shot, compared to in his fight with Rahman. - Golota's best was around the time he fought Bowe, he's way past it. - McCline was probably at his peak around the time he defeated Briggs, he's slowing down. - Toney was definitely not the same in his last three fights, as he was in the 90s and early 00s. Some fighters past 35 are still very good - examples are Foreman, Hopkins, Calzaghe and Ruiz. But Peter's above mentioned opponents have all seriously declined. I agree, Golota beating Peter would be more than an upset. Your list is all good, excluding Ruiz, he's a paper champion and Golota beat him. I saw that fight in person, and it was brutal.

Sam Peter must like old opponents. :nonono: That's a total of five fights in a row against men 36 or older, four of which were 38 or older! :rofl: Fighting a few veterans would be okay, but he should fight a prime age opponent once in awhile! I was hoping Povetkin would get Golota, after having faced a young, difficult opponent in Chambers. I was hoping Peter would fight one of my favorite heavyweights, Travis Walker, who I think would put him on the canvas. Peter will win another TKO against a shot old opponent for his first title defense. :ugh: Being a veteran doesn't mean an immediate loss against a younger fighter automatically. Oleg Maskaev and Hasim Rahman are argueably two of the best heavyweights in the division as of now, and are veterans of the sport.

Andrew Golota baby, my all time favorite fighter, can't wait to see his name up against an actually decent fighter. You can't screw a fighter out of a knockout, so Golota by late round KO, great to have him back!

Peter early against any form of Golota. Whether or not you think Peter is legit, you have to realize that Golota folds under ANY kind of aggressive pressure. This is the worst possible stylistic matchup for him. Factor in that he's only and washed up, eh... If he makes it past the third, I'll be shocked.

Golota is too old now and well past his prime, his handspeed has really diminished....Golota has a punchers chance, but I think Peter takes him out in the mid rounds....I would favour Prime Golota over Peter though.

Peter will win by stoppage/DQ. Once Golota tastes Peter's power he will find a way to get out of there as soon as possible.

Golota's choked every time he's had a big fight. If he was younger I'd pick him but he's way past it. Peter will take him out.

I guess as long as Golota is still standing and boxing he get's these chances. His best days are past him so I think Peter should win rather easily either by DQ or KO.
