One of my favorite all time fighters, his defense set up his offense, at only 5’6 he had to get in close to land his shots
While he was hard to hit clean, especially at light heavyweight, defense wasn’t his priority
His priority was to get in close and to counter off of his opponents missing the mark
I remember when ESPN was still new and they held a light heavyweight tournament and Dwight came from nowhere to win it
But his fight against ex-champion Mike Rossman was an absolute masterpiece, that’s when he was still up and coming and took training seriously
While I am much taller our proportions are the same, my reach is 17 cm longer than my height like Dwight and Lennox Lewis
Why unify a dead division?
Look at Crawford. Does anyone care he unified vs Indongo? Lol it was a waste of his time, ans prime years.
Crawford gets zero respect for his first unification NONE
That may be true but I do believe Boots is fighting for himself and his family and him being undisputed at 147 is his priority
So I don’t think he cares what respect he will get from others, you are well aware that no matter what any fighter does there will always be people who will downplay their accomplishments
And Boots knows it far better than we do
If you re read my post, you will notice that I said the bigger money for Boots and his family is at 154 not 147. Surely you have seen the exciting fights that Bud, Ortiz and Tim have had against their eastern European opponents. Turki has surely seen them and is pitting two of them against each other on his Tyson vs Usyk rematch card coming up.
Boots vs anyone of those 6 fighters will pay him more than anyone currently at 147. Shoot If Turki was so interested in the 147 fighters why wasn't the Boots vs Norman fight made?? Surely Turki would have given Norman the extra $500,000 he was asking for. After all that amount is not much for someone like Turki. It wasn't made because there was no interest.
Turki has not shown much if any interest in Boots. Turki likes Ortiz and works with ODLH and was trying to make the Bud vs Ortiz fight but Bud would rather fight Ginger. So if what you believe is true, that Boots is fighting for what's best for him and his family, which is money, well then the better money is at 154.
It’s the belts he said he is fighting for, I never heard him say anything about the money
I like you would also like to see him fight at 154 but that’s not my call, so I will just watch him fight whenever he is in the ring because I like his fighting style
Every fighter before him has stayed in the weight class they started in until their goals were achieved
He wants to be undisputed at 147, he has the money and backing behind him so with time (which I believe has run out for the world we now know, “leave the world behind” wasn’t just for ratings)
those fighters at 154 will still be there after Boots gets all of the belts
BUT, let’s see what happens before this election, I believe this topic will be the least of anyone’s concerns, something BIG is coming
147 is dead. Is he angling for a fight with Fraud Haney? Lol
Haney doesn’t have a belt, Boots said he wants to be undisputed from 147 - 168
So that’s his goal, what’s the problem with that
He will risk his life in the ring for his dreams and if it televised I will be watching
And those who don’t like it don’t have to watch
I see your point but he and his family are better off where the money is at and the bigger money for Boots and his family is at 154 not 147.
Who is the money man at 154?
There might be better fighters but there is no money man at 154 because outside of Crawford and maybe Spence (both who turned down a fight with Boots) there are no established names that are known outside of hardcore boxing fans
Boots is with fast Eddie and fast Eddie is with Turki
As we all know Turki is the money man in all of boxing right now so regardless of the weight class Boots is on Turki’s list of fighters he likes so Boots will be ok in that regard
It is one fight at a time, so if the times we are in are extended we will see how everything develops
W. Ledochowski absolutely nailed it on the head, when I was in camp with both it was at a much different time in their careers.
I am 6 foot 3 1/2 and at that time I was around 225, Wlad was still developing and Lennox was the established best heavy on the planet, so yes it is very possible that Wlad grew into his man strength and developed into the harder puncher.
He was the better athlete and much better technically so I would not doubt that he is developed into the harder puncher, but at the time I sparred them both Lennox was indeed the more hurtful puncher, that is why i said in my experience.
The Mercer fight can I think also be discounted because he was at a much different time in his career also, but yes i would have no problem proclaiming Wlad as the harder puncher based on the other information given and watching him fight but I just did not have that experience when I was fortune enough to be in camp with those hall of fame fighters.
Yes i also would not doubt that Lennox coming up was a very nice guy but in camp he was very aloof which is understandable because he was the champ and there is a lot of macho activity in camp.
Who do you think would win if they fought in their primes?
I am an MMA guy and hope to one day have a fight in the UFC, but **** Mc Nugget and his obvious power play.
That fool knows he cant step in the ring with any club fighter and expect to get a win.
And **** the fighters in the UFC, they know the deal and they will keep on fighting for peanuts
or the UFC will replace them, hard fact of life.
So far he is a can crusher, he stepped up a little when he fought that African guy and got stopped.
if he can spark world class fighters then yes he has some crazy power
Name me one boxer with big ass and thighs who cant crack
Buster Mathes jr couldn't crack an egg.
There is body type myth really in every sport, ability is god given regardless of body type
He looks the part but with his size, lack of activity or real power I don’t think he will even reach contender status.
He seems to be enjoying a good quality of life in Canada, some guys just fight to get out of an impoverished country and when they achieve that goal boxing isn’t as important as it once was
Huck is done.
Out with the old in with the new.
I havent seen Bredis eat a flush haymaker from a big puncher yet, so Huck could get lucky with a big shot.. so he has a punchers chance...
I agree Huck gets stopped in this one but I disagree that he has faced a puncher just as good or better than Huck in the last Russian he fought.
But yeah I got to give it to him he doesn't duck anyone, a true fighter with caveman skills who beat Pedvodkin
Everyone knows it's his looks, my parents have a vacation home in Mexico and I am blond and yeah I speak Spanish and I know the struggle of the Indian looking Mexicans.
It is because he is a guero (white boy) if he wasn't he wouldn't be 1/16th as popular.
Look at the Mexican 168 champ, he's a good looking guy and has a lot more charisma than canelo but no one but real boxing fan know who he is.
And yeah even in Spanish when Canelo speaks he has absolutely no charisma.
It's all the looks
I agree Huck gets stopped in this one but I disagree that he has faced a puncher just as good or better than Huck in the last Russian he fought.

Ah your right I got him confused with Murat Gassiev, my fault
I'm thinkng Ortiz is going to be exposed when Briggs chin-checks him.
I'm takin the cannon by KO in round 5.
Briggs is going to get hurt, maybe if it was 10 years ago it would be a entertaining fight for a few rounds but Briggs is so old, stiff, slow and roided out he has zero chance of seeing the 3rd round imo.
At least the pre fight antics should be entertaining and at least give Ortiz some kind of personality by default.
a out of shape andy ruiz jr and Parker went life and death with him LOL
Yeah his trainer said that parker is better than Tua was, thats a bunch of **** Tua would of slept that fat boy for sure
Briggs is so stiff now, way to muscle bound to be fluid.
I know the age has a little to do with it also but damn the guy moves like a robot now, he used to be very fluid and very fast for such a big guy.
hope he gets that pay day he has worked so hard to set up.
I've been there and it's not horrible
Put it this way - if I was given the choice of going there or Detroit, it's a no brainer
Yeah I understand, but I've never been there so I can't speak from experience.
But yeah it's all what you compare it to
Been around the world for pleasure and business like master Zaroku san. I like all people. The more variance the better. I just don't like isolated minds on NSB that race bait because they can't appreciate diversity nor obviously have the experience.
I fully agree, but I was lucky enough to grow up in American and have been exposed to the melting pot as opposed to my mom where she grew up in a place with really no ethnic diversity, and the diversity that was there I am sure she learned to dislike them from the others around her
Hopefully your grandpops was getting down. Asian looking Russian babes are fine as hell! Caucasian blood meets Mongoloid blood is a nice thing in Russian history and it's demographics or rather the traditional phenotypes from that continent.
But nsb race trolls just call gennady "white" because his hair is brown.. for some reason his ethnic traits aren't acceptable nor have props from the classic blood that Genghis Khan provided centuries ago...
Yeah I'm sure he did, he was one of those hard drinking Russian tough guys, but yeah the strange thing is my mom is kind of racist against the Caucasians (the Russians with mongol blood) but she loves blacks and Indians (I live in Oklahoma)
Her best friend is black but when I was watching a Provodkin fight she actually said he wasn't Russian and looked down on him because of his ethnicity.
Well in America boxing isn't a big draw now but that being said I would expect GGG to be a better draw givin the push he has been given by HBO and the boxing media.
My favorite fighter of all time in any combat sport.
The only man I ever saw "play" boxing
He was Superman in his prime.
I laugh at those people saying he only relied on his physical gifts, yeah no ****, show me an athlete who doesn't.
He is the reason I am a fan of the sport of boxing
Funny you should mention it, but I think Bhop and Ward style are actually worse than Wladimir's, mainly so because both Bhop and Ward rely more on bending the rules and often couldn't knock out a w@nk never mind an opponent.
To me they are all kind of skirting the fine line of being "dirty" fighters, when Bhop and ward do clutch and grab they do it with more ring craft it seems to me.
Wlad does it with the look and feel of pure panic
AJ baby!
AJ fought him toe to toe at Wlads best and stopped him and is waiting for the rematch.
Fury just out slapped him, did not engage and ducked the rematch.
But yeah I think Beyoncé Wilder will beat both to be honest.
