I'm not trolling, but that's BS
Canelo doesn't even know English, unlike some other non-US boxers who actually try to learn the language but Canelo don't even trying
I understand why McGregor is the biggest thing in UFC, the mother****er has a hell of a personality, I don't like him but I can't pretend like it's not true
Look at the boxing world now. Somehow, Canelo is the biggest star in boxing, the star with absolutely ZERO charisma, so the fact that he's Mexican and the fact that he has Floyd fight in his resume is the only reason why he's the biggest ppv fighter in boxing? I mean, really?
So you don't have to do much to become a biggest boxing star if you happen to be mexican and have a good, not great, but good skillset? You don't even have to have an entertaining personality?
Man, if a guy like this is a biggest boxing star at the moment, it means there's just no fighters in boxing who can be entertaining and charismatic outside the ring now and some people keep wondering why boxing is doing so bad nowadays
Brother black fans are watching NFL & NBA lol. Black fans been gone since Tyson & Holyfield & the HW's were fun to watch. And another huge segment of black fans left post-Floyd.
There are like 37 black boxing fans left in the US. Granted there are probably a bunch of black casual fans who think some retired for 10 or less years guy is the #1 guy in the game right now, but those fans don't really count in my mind.
I thought I was taking blatant shots at the d1ckwads on nsb...but clearly I should've been more specific. I meant the slick fans that ride anything with a satisfactory amount of melanin....surely you've noticed them...
I digress however, the point is many (not all) fans look to affiliate by similar qualities to themselves. Because boxing isn't a team sport, likeness is broadened nationalistically and even specified by promoter affiliation. Nothing I'm saying can't be noticed day-to-day on NSB alone. And that's part of why Canelo has garnered the support he has.
Good looking, white Mexican, exciting style, world champ from a young age.
He is only a star among mexicans and mexican americans though. Worldwide he is not a star.
Canelo can't speak a lick of english and he lives and fights here for how long now? That's why I don't respect him he don't even have the decency to learn English. His fans are mostly Mexican and all Mexicans somewhat follow boxing that's why he has big fan base, even jr has a big fan base.

So a star in your eyes is someone with a big mouth who boxing puts people to sleep
List of Mexicans great champs who werent draws is long ,only Oscar was ,and as a native Mexican Canelo can be first big mexican draw ever so it must be something about him, also he can fight and is good looking ,full pacage, also some ppl compere him too Pac and Floyd and its show his succes cuse this to are larger then live boxers,Floyd had no charisma at all ,but his sport succes was to big to ignore + he had lots of known opponets,Canelo had only Mosley(past it,on undercard),Floyd and Cotto so dont judge to fast ,he can break 1m twice this year with Jr and GGG.

Alvarez's audience is heavily Hispanic, with the vast majority of his money being drawn from Mexico/Mexican audience; command of English is only crucial for him to launch as a crossover star.
How does Alvarez translate in Spanish to Spanish-speaking audiences; that's all that should matter, at this point.
Everyone knows it's his looks, my parents have a vacation home in Mexico and I am blond and yeah I speak Spanish and I know the struggle of the Indian looking Mexicans.
It is because he is a guero (white boy) if he wasn't he wouldn't be 1/16th as popular.
Look at the Mexican 168 champ, he's a good looking guy and has a lot more charisma than canelo but no one but real boxing fan know who he is.
And yeah even in Spanish when Canelo speaks he has absolutely no charisma.
It's all the looks
I guess things have changed since, now you gotta appeal to teeny boppers
canelo has been fighting in national tv since he was 17yo, and has only lost to floyd, of course he is popular, on top of that he looks and dresses well... he has always been more popular than chavezjr, imagine if canelo had a father like that?
Lots of paying boxing fans don't care about charisma and English speaking ability. They care about watching a highly skilled, exciting, aggressive boxer win his fights in style and usually by KO. Canelo brings in the fans by the thousands. His fights make big money and he is paid big money to fight. That makes him a big star in spite of any lack of charisma and English speaking skills.
boxers like chavez sr or pipino cuevas or puas olivares are far from good looking and they were bigger idols than those you mentioned...

How come they're not that into much better boxers and warriors? Marquez, Morales, Barrera, none of them were half as popular. It's the looks, isn't it

Looks but also size
Rare is the "superstar" at 140 and below

he actually is learning english. I have seen some of his interviews and oscar says at much and he answers peoples questions that are in english without them translated. he just doesn't seem comfortable answering them back. kind of like chavez jr.
besides that the ho's all seem to like canelito
It doesn't have anything to do with Canelo, it's just my 2 cents about Pac's ppvs
Ha ha, yeah, you can say the same thing about Loma except for the fact that Loma isn't popular, struggling to attract fans to his fights, can't sell ppv's and far from being the boxing biggest star, but Canelo is, for some reason.
Other than that, there's no differences at all lol
So if there's no difference, why one of these guys is able to sell his fights and the other guy can't? Maybe because Loma's style is less entertaining? Or maybe because Loma facing worse competition? No, that's only because one of them is Mexican, that's why
No I meant that he doesn't have charisma it's hard to understand him and he doesn't speak English very good. Maybe you can understand him and see that he does have a personality but I can't. Same with Canelo I understand Spanish so I can see that he in fact does have a personality. A strong silent type. Since Canelo doesn't speak Spanish it's hard for you to see what I'm saying. I guarantee that if Loma spoke as good as Kov in English or gg he would be almost as big as those two
mexicans love their boxing...

The fact that he is Mexican, but white looking and ginger! gives him some kind of unique appeal. As a personality of course for English speaking people its hard for us to perceive his personality in full, but that was also the case with Miguel Cotto for many years! i think some fighters just have a aura about them which enables them not to really say much or trash talk.
