@Bush I've never seen Martinez pressure a guy. He almost exclusively pops that quick left and hurts guys. I don't think he has a really strong right jab.
I don't think that this fight is indicative of how a May-Martinez fight would go... But I do think that May-Martinez would be a good one.
" I think Mayweather will bring out the best in Manny. It's gonna have to because if not we're not gonna be there in the end. " - Freddie Roach
If Manny fights like Manny and Floyd fights like Floyd... Roach stops it
And where's Roy Jones? If B-Hop gets credit then Roy definitely gets credit... Even though his boxrec profile will have double digit losses before he gives it up...
Roy's highlights will consist of leaping left hooks and multiple punch combinations... Thrown by a middle weight!!
Not to mention, he'll have wins over B-Hop and James Toney
I think Pac did enough to win the first fight given that he scored the three knock downs.
(Sidenote: I still take issue with how easily Lederman gave Pac a 10-6 round in the first fight but gave Floyd a 10-7 round against Chici Corrales in Rd. 5 of their fight when Floyd knocked him down 3 times)
I think JMM clearly won the second fight... By two or three rounds
I figure it would be mostly Michael Buffer because of the "Let's Get Ready to RUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMBLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEE"
I love that myself and I'm pretty sure I would pick Buffer too... I was just curious to see the general thought
I hope this fight doesn't go the distance and that Pac looks great BUT only because I want the Pac-Mayweather fight in May...
If JMM looks excellent or maybe even wins, I hope he takes his millions, goes back to the Romanza gym and starts training the next generation of Mexican warriors to follow in his foot steps!!
I hope Pac beats him convincingly BUT only because I want the Mayweather fight on May 5...
If Marquez wins, he takes his 5 million and goes back to the Romanza gym and starts training the next generation of great Mexicans
Khan is impressive because he is moving well and taking pretty good punches... I think its 4-2 Khan...
But Lederman is making excuses with some bullsh!t about how many fans Peterson's has
I noticed in Round 2 that Khan DOES NOT like the body shot... Peterson's trainer keeps talking that double-triple jab quickness ****... Man, straight right to the body and he'll get Khan outta there
You don't know anything about the sport.
Don't you know that the objective of boxing is to "hit WHILE being hit"?
Don't you know that? :D
My bad man... *Goes back to study the Gatti-Ward trilogy*
mayweather doesnt fight like Marquez. lol. Mayweather doesnt throw combo counters.
Mayweather is afraid to get hit unlike Marquez who is willing to take the hits just to deliver his combos.
I think you mean that Mayweather doesn't have to get hit to return fire... We've seen Floyd get his and KEEP coming forward so I don't think its fear. It's skill
When I went back and watched the Mayweather realized how great Marquez was... Even though he lost, he was able to set traps for Floyd and catch him with that right hand...
He's a very tactical fighter BUT then when he fought Katsidis , he was fighting inside... That dude is really a great and I don't think there is any speculation about it... I'm a fan!!
And Marquez's "style" simply consisted of moving to Manny's right all night...
Manny's right hand is still weak unless it's the third or fifth punch in a combination... For example, right jab, straight left, right jab (right hook)...
He doesn't have any strong lead punches, left or right hand and Marquez pivoting and countering every time Manny came in wreckless made him look pretty silly...
As far as getting robbed, the fight was going to be closer than it was. I think if Angulo could've fought hard and kept it close in at least 3 of the last 4 rounds, he would've won the fight or been given a draw... And that's after getting beat for a majority of the fight
It sure would be nice if people stopped pretending like Angulo landed anything significant after the knockdown...
And better yet, if people stopped pretending like Kirkland wasn't throwing back after that knockdown...
Guy barely landed anything and definitely nothing flush...
There is legion of people who seem all too happy to hear that Floyd is fighting Morales.
Whether it's true or just a smoke screen, fans that want the fight should be pissed... I'm convinced that this legion of people celebrating the May-Morales fight don't really want the May-Pac fight
Why does everyone all of a sudden refer to Ricky Hatton as having a glass jaw when he was undefeated before Floyd fought him? That baffles me...
The only way to discredit the man is to discredit his opponents...
Actually, he proved to me that he could answer a question without reiterating the same rhetoric over and over...
Public perception shifted as soon as the 50/50 issue came up. With that being said, Floyd's fans are Floyd's fans. Casual fans aren't Floyd fans and ESPN doesn't promote Floyd's agenda either...
So as far as PR goes, I don't think it matters... He doesn't have sponsorships like Pacquiao (even though I notice that he wears lots of Reebok stuff and BTW Devon Alexander had on the same Reebok boxing boots that Floyd wears) and he's not treated as a media darling...
So you can post this opinion in every thread and even start your very own thread about to REALLY drive your point home but when it boils down to it, PR doesn't matter when you are a vilified athlete
i honestly dont think he cares, nor do i think it hurt him with anyone. either u like him or u dont, there arent many fence sitters in that regards. floyd is floyd. and he'll always be that, much too late for him to change.
¡Exactamente!
I don't want a PC answer, I want a coherent one. Floyd doesn't give any of those and that's why I hate his interviews.
But Floyd's answers were coherent in this interview and that alone made it a good interview in my opinion... He was rational and explained his points clearly...
Now whether you agree or disagree with him is a different story...
Yeah, to the dude that said if this was Oscar, it wouldn't be any question as to who should get the bigger percentage...
But it's not Oscar, it's Floyd and almost every response if based on emotions instead of logic...
And truth is, Pac and Floyd DO generate close to the same amount of revenue... But the Pac fans are pretending like Pac gets a majority of the revenue he generates... He may only see 12 million out of that 40 million to be honest... But when you get to splitting PPV revenue and all that sh!t, Pac will still only see 12 million man...
It's a matter of pride for Pac but his advisor's and managers and everybody that's stealing from him want as big a piece of pie as to steal from as possible
