Congrats to James but it took him about 5 rounds to finish angulo and angulo was dead after the second half of the first. I'm not hating just telling the truth Kirkland would loose against cotto, canelo, even clotey or any top fighter in that division. the only one he might beat is Margarito cause he's there to b hit. Don't get all crazy over Kirkland now he looked as bad as angulo.
Kirkland still just took out one of the most feared fighters in boxing. Angulo was no joke. And people want to say that "Oh...Angulo was gassed after 2 minutes in the 1st"...fine. Kirkland still stood in there and survived and KO'd Angulo.
Lara is the best fighter at 154, in my honest opinion. Kirkland fits right in there with the top 154 lb fighters. Kirkland, Lara, Alvarez, Cotto, Trout, etc.
Give credit where credit is due. Kirkland still looked good. It just tells you how tough Angulo is that he stood in there and survived rounds 2-5 taking about 35-40 punches a round from Kirkland.
Yeah yeah it was because perro was gassed out.
Before he knocked james down he was getting backed up. I never seen angulo fighting off his back foot. Kirkland was backing his azz up(no homo).
I've seen him backed up in several fights.
angulo did NOT blow his load. angulo is a fighter with marvelous stamina.......I'm sick of you butt hurt angulo fans making excuses. angulo was fighting STRONG after the 1st round. kirkland took angulos legs from him with wicked body shots. @ one point angulo even covers up his body because they hurt so much. kirkland was simply the more determined fighter & he slowly tore through angulos face. he r@ped angulo & ko'd him fair & square..........
GET THE F*CK OVER IT MORONS.......
I'm not an angulo fan.
Angulo has been an incredibly inactive fighter since his deportation.
Angulo visibly blew his load, throwing nothing but slow meaningless arm punches after his initial burst. Kirkland took his legs from him, not his arms. Deal with it, the man gassed. He sat in the corner huffing and puffing like he'd just ran a marathon. I'm sure Roy and the rest of that team know more than you, and even they knew what was coming. He blew his load worse than Mike Jones did.
He has marvelous stamina when it's measured, which he failed to do. he went all out with everything, nothing about his onslaught was measured and controlled. He blew his load, deal with it. At teh end of the day, Kirkland beat a guy who was there to be hit, slow, and exhausted. Even if you EX out the exhaustion from the equation, you still have a fight that isn't very impressive. You have a Fighter who was still a prospect, really, and never got to become something special because of being deported. Who lost to Kermit Cintron who, coincidentally, hasn't won a fight or looked good since then. In fact, he had already been given a gift draw against martinez and looked stupid against N'dou prior.
I've never been an angulo fan because I always thought he was overrated. He had his heart taken from him, and I'm happy to see Kirkland do it. Kirkland can make some exciting fights for us. But that doesn't stop me from calling it the way I see it, either.

lol @ Kirkland losing to shot azz Cotto, or Clotteys navy blue ass..
dont see him beating cotto but clottey is easier as joshua do not throw that many punches and have yet to see him at 154...
he didn't blow his load. when angulo stopped his punches in bunches kirkland followed him & threw punches back at him which hurt angulo. thats the thing, when ever angulo is done throwing combinations you follow him & throw your own shots.....it just so happened that james had enough power to hurt him when he followed angulo..............
he was sloppy, blooded, & beat up for a reason. kirklands body shots, determination, & crisps combos did a number on angulo.
angulos only chances was a early ko. after that kirkland was too determined to win..........
Um he was dead tired which took away any sting he had in punches. Kirkland swarmed him in the first round making him uneasy, then when he went down, Angulo carelessly tried to finish him. After he was punched out Kirkland ate him alive. I have no doubt Kirkland was tagging the **** out of him but it was a combination of his loss of stamina and Kirklands pressure that tore him apart. By round three Kirkland came forward and took what was left of Angulos stamina away with the combos and body shots. It was a domino effect.

Dude angulo was clearly dead tired after the first round. IF you call that good stamina, I hate to see what you call bad. He was dead at the end of round one and nonexistant in round two. He started to get his wind back in three but he was sloppy, slow and how Kellerman put it (he throws like hes fighting in water). Kirkland won and was definitely the better man, but Angulos stamina looked horrible to me.
Oh and about that knock down.
Not to make excuses but that was the first time Kirkland has been hit since he was stopped in the first round. He just got his bell rung and in the end i believe it helped him.
Kirkland was at the brink of the end, a loss. Would have lead to his career being practically over. He walked through dome viscious blows after getting up and through the first 3 rounds.
Walks threw? his chin is still ****, as this fight proved. Angulo just blew his load, nothing more.
Explain to me how kirkland dosent mow through Cotto like a wet paper bag? Cotto chin was shaky at 135 what would he do with Kirklands power at 154? Not to mention kirklands style is a nightmare for Cotto.
Marg is a smaller version of Angulo whi will never be the same after 2 beatdowns by fighters smaller than kirkland. Please explain to me how Cotto or Marg has a chancd against kirkland.
Im not dickriding like kirkland is p4p #1. I think guys like Sergio Martinez or Lara would beat him soundly. But guys like cotto and marg are tailor made for james.
lol...some ppl on this site have all the excuses. they just cant accept when their fighter loses. its really sad.
He didnt make any excuses, he calld i thow he saw it. The man blew his load looking for the KO and never recovered. He tired himself out then got beaten up. All the credit in teh world to him for lasting as long as he did considering the circumstances.
i didn't see much from james though. i saw him Get up after being knocked down.. which doesn't magically mean he has a chin though. He was down 3 times against Ishida, not out. He was down against Conyers, not out. he has a shakey chin, this fight proves it's still shakey. However, his opponent was there for the taking after blowing his wad in the first, slow, and easy to hit. Why are we so impressed? He didn't show crazy defense, he didn't show crazy skill, he didn't show anything more than the ability to get up (which he has ALWAYS done) and throw punches.
Kirkland WALKS through Cotto and Marg. If Pac can then why couldn't he?
Angulo has a 10x better chin than those two and they've had viscous beat downs that have had to had some type of physiological effect.
Marg in 6
Cotto in 9
Walks threw? his chin is still ****, as this fight proved. Angulo just blew his load, nothing more.
Im a real boxing fan. Anyone who thinks Angulo was 100% is a blind fool. His punches were slow and weak, nowhere near as powerful as they usually are when he starts off in other fights. He walked slow and sloppy before the fight started. The rest of the fight after round 1 he looked extremely fatigued, and no one gets that gassed after one explosive round. He looked as if he just got done running a marathon and then tried to fight. He had nothing. Like Lampley said, his punches looked like he was underwater. Kirkland was just off balance and throwing wild as usual, and has no defense whatsoever. He couldn't plant his feet and land not one sharp combo to take Angulo out of there right away. He was still getting hit by some of the most telegraphed punches I ever saw. What a fluke. Angulo would've been stopped by damn near anybody after the first round, yet alone by Cotto, JCC, Canelo, Cintron, hell even Margarito would've stopped him. If and when Kirkland faces any of these guys (excluding Margarito), he gets easily stopped. Don't give so much credit to a wild, sloppy, defenseless fighter who couldn't finish off a guy who was already knocked out. Ishida ko's him in a rematch haha
Angulo is not a smart fighter sorry to burst your bubble but he was soundly out boxed by Kermit Cintron. The sad part is Cintron could probably outbox him today. You guys forget Angulo walked away from 750K to fight Martinez because his team knew he'd get tore to shreds. Angulo gassed out but he did the best he could, don't make excuses for him.
lmao angulo looked the same as he always did.
why is it that every time angulo loses he's sick and wasn't there? c'mon man! Kirkland was simply the better fighter. That's it.
so you're criticism of kirkland is that he didn't stop him sooner? wow. Angulo a guy who's never been knocked down before in his career. Kirkland stops him in 6 and he's horrible because he didn't stop him in round 2. terrible post man

People are seriously overhyping Kirkland. Angulo looked tired or sick before the fight even started. He wasn't mentally there. He still almost stopped Kirkland. In my opinion, Kirkland looked horrible. Any other top ten fighter in the division wouldve finished Angulo in the 2nd round, it was embarrassing that it took him that long to do it. Angulo was out on his feet after the knockdown. I think he had the flu or something cuz he had no legs to begin with. Im happy everyones jumping on the Kirkland bandwagon cuz i think any other top fighter knocks him out easily, so itll be funny when everyone suddenly shuts up about him.
Nothing but the truth here. Both guys looked AWFUL tonight. Angulo looked like he didn't even bother running or working on conditioning, he was done in the 1st round. He punched himself out, had no legs, had no gas after the first half of the first round :lol1:
Kirkland has 0 skill. Angulo looked liked he was throwing punches underwater like Lampley said, and he was still landing. Kirkland has no defense, no chin, just decent stamina.
Sloppy fight between 2 average fighters, only saving grace was the drama of the first. People are going overboard with the overhyping of Kirkland, probably the same people who wrote him off when he was KO'ed in one by a pillow fisted Ishida.
