Any other fight and he's ducking. Fans will excuse not giving Jacobs a rematch for a mega fight like canelo. But not giving Jacobs a rematch when the public demand is so high for a meaningless fight with Saunders in june? Get the phuk out of here. How many people that paid to see your fight this weekend have EVER seen Saunders fight? That will be pulling a salka and he deserves to be tar and feathered if he goes that route.

    Saunders is Salka?

    Seriously?

He's a coward for not accepting a rematch over someone he beat, knocked down, and has NOTHING to offer any longer? I LOVE Jacobs but he lost and I can't see him doing anything better than he already did.

Jacobs got outfought, outboxed, outlanded, knocked down, took more damage...and pulled that little stunt with the weight. He's not going to get an immediate rematch. I'd rather see Saunders or even Eubank jr at this point. Not because I think they're better than Jacobs but because it's a different look and style. Jacobs fought as best as he could and still came short. He didn't go after it when he could have so now it's next in line. GGG has made if very clear for years he's after that belt so people shouldn't act surprised.

Danny should go rematch Kid Chocolate or fight Lemieux and take it from there. Or whoever is the odd man out between Eubank or Saunders. Danny has a good amount of options and a legitimate interesting matchup against Lemieux or if Charlo or anyone thinks they're ready to step up to the upper class of MW Danny can show em whats up.

Again, love Danny but when you fight Mora more than once it's also karma.

    • What a waste of space. If you thought Jacobs won you should stop scoring fights. Jacobs fought the best he could Golovkin the worst he could and Jacobs still lost. Unifying is a worthy goal & Canelo brings the most money. Let Jacobs fight Lemeiux and the winner gets a rematch.

        Ignore Shaniqua...she's lying.

GGG was weighed at 170lbs by HBO scales the night of the fight.

CHEAT Jacobs refused to be weighed by HBO scales just like he refused the IBF weigh in. However, his conditioning coach said he weighed 176lbs at 8am the morning of the fight. He also said Jacobs would enter the ring around 180lbs as planned. I think it's BS to think Jacobs only gained 4lbs in 15 hours drinking fluids, eating 3 meals etc especially considering he's 6'1. Therefore, I believe most media observers who reported he looked around 185-190lbs giving himself an unfair 15-20lbs weight advantage over GGG.

The funniest thing is he still got put on his ass in round 3 and wobbled multiple times despite the extra weight. He also didn't hurt GGG once with his weight advantage and couldn't stop GGG coming forward all night. Obviously Jacobs' 90% KO ratio counts for **** against a quality fight lol.

        • GGG has a weird fanbase. They want him to be great but want him to take the path of least resistance to greatness. Breaking Hopkins record is a good accomplishmemt but that isn't what made Hopkins great. If Hopkins would've stayed at middleweight after his loses to Taylor he'd be considered a good middleweight for his era. What made Hopkins great was the risks he took to be great.

At the rate GGG is going he'll be considered a good middleweight for his era. Even a win over Canelo won't make him great. Canelo has already been beaten by Floyd & arguably Lara. Beating Canelo won't make him great, he'll make a lot of money tho.

He just had a close victory over a guy not many gave a chance. People have started to question how good he really is. There were already questions about how good he really is considering his level of competition. That fight left a lot more questions than answers. Instead of answering those questions he's chasing something that'll look good on paper but won't really mean much until he answer those questions in his fight with Jacobs.

His first real test and his grade is an incomplete. Instead of taking the test again he moves on.

Exactly right. There is no way Jacobs weighed less than 185. Pictures don't lie. This is why I feel he needs to fight Charlo at 160 if he wants a rematch. Fight him first, he is the same size and there won't be any advantages for either.

            • Lyle, could you explain why you chose to frames things as you did?

You write that BJS beat only one opponent better than #18 at the time, when you could just as easily say that he beat then top #5-6 Andy Lee. Also, what is your basis for asserting that the bout was highly controversial? BJS scored two knockdowns and outboxed Lee fairly handily in the first half. The second half was slow, but I hardly recall any notable suggestion that the decision was poor.

BJS also beat Eubank, is top 5 at MW, and is about as proven as Quillin was when many people had him at #2 in the division. GGG is 35 and just fairly beat DJ according to you, so I don't get the outrage with him going for another top belt holder at the weight, which would also mean that Canelo couldn't come back to MW and cherrypick that belt without facing GGG. He's clearly focused on MW and would be fighting pretty much the best guy there he hasn't already faced.

GGG's resume could be stronger, true, but he'll end up getting voted into the IBHOF anyway, and Lyle seems to be going way over the top here with the 'criminal' nonsense.

Spot on bro. What they don't realize is that at the end of the day, no one will remember how many belts you won. They'll remember who you fought, when you fought them, and how you did against other great fighters. GGG doesn't have one name on his resume that's gonna make historians take notice. Even if he beats Canelo. Who's already been beaten by a welterweight and arguably a jr middleweight.

                • GGG will do fine with history. He's very highly rated by a large group of fans and writers, and should make the IBHOF without issue

I think the Saunders fight should take priority. Unification fights should always take priority. If I were GGG's manager I think the Saunders fight should take priority over Canelo because once GGG has that belt all Canelo can do is spin his wheels at 160.

He definitely deserves a rematch. But if GGG beats Saunders next and becomes undisputed, that makes the rematch even bigger.
Moron. More punches landed, more punches throw and a higher percentage landed plus a knockdown. Stop scoring fight you clearly don't know what you're doing or talking about
