He is from Kazakhstan you dope plus Astana is hosting the world expo this year which is a massive event, drawing in millions of visitors and allegedly somebody is willing to put up millions to stage a GGG fight whilst it is on
Jacobs is the CHALLENGER in case you had failed to notice
GGG has already beaten him in his home town whilst paying the guy over the odds just to get him into the ring months after they could have fought
cool story bro
Golovkin got the nod
that is NOT the same thingComment

Notice that you dont have the same attitude where Ward-Kovalev is concerned
Fact is that he remains the challenger and as there was no rematch clause in the contract, Jacobs is in absolutely no position to even demand a rematch let alone where and when it happensComment

Quite obviously obtaining all of the middleweight belts is a goal of Golovkin, something he's made clear since making his debut in America in 2012. That alone makes the belt worth something.
Since the modern era of four major sanctioning bodies, how many middleweight champions have unified all four belts, five including the Ring belt? How many have won all five belts? The answer is one: Bernard Hopkins. (Taylor was stripped his IBF belt right after Hopkins).

Hopkins and his five belts (six including the IBO which no one considers as a major sanctioning body but nonetheless Golovkin has that one as well).
Ask Hopkins if unifying all the belts was worthless. It's considered one of Hopkins great achievements at middleweight (the 21 IBF title defenses is great and all but it would have meant very little if he hadn't eventually unified the division, otherwise he would be nothing more than Sven Ottke).
If Golovkin ends up getting the WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF and Ring belts, he will be one of three fighters to have done so if I'm not mistaken (there may be a fourth person I'm forgetting but regardless the amount of people who owned all five belts can be counted on one hand).
Worthless? To the author maybe, but clearly not to Golovkin.
The last comment I'll make had already been brought up - Golovkin is trying to turn around and get right back in the ring in Kazakhstan in June of this year for the WBO belt. Like someone else mentioned, would Jacobs even be willing to fight Golovkin again that quickly and would he be down to fight in Kazakhstan? I'm guessing no. I'd love to see a rematch with Jacobs right now, but I'm certainly not going to criticize Golovkin for attempting to accomplish his goal that we've all known about for years especially when he's so close to obtaining it and I certainly wouldn't call completely unifying a division worthless, especially if he's fighting three times this year.
it does work that way
a title does not make a champion, a champion makes a title
NOBODY considers Saunders a genuine middleweight champion
EVERYBODY knows that decision could have gone either way
Jacobs is a far better fight
Saunders has been champion for ages..... the ONLY time they looked at Saunders they offered him 1.5mil..... Saunders laughed, Loeffler spun the "can't make them fight us" line..... and then they fought Dominic Wade
enough with the bullshht !
"stop this "I need all the belts" nonsense. It's an easy path to easy fights, rather than forcing him to pursue greatness with another Jacobs fight, or by moving up."Comment

Hagler and Hearns were fighting for the same belt Gennady won.

I have EXACTLY the same attitude where Ward is concerned
your problem is this.....
I don't favor fighters, so I don't flip-flop, EVER..... mainly because I put boxing first, but also because I am too old and too smart
I do NOT hate Golovkin
but I can read Team Bullshht like a book
I DO however, hate his fanbase LMAO
Golovkin can fight nobodies for the rest of his life, I couldn't care less, and I don't have a problem with it.....
..... BUT, if that is the case..... you guys don't get to call him great..... you don't get to categorically state that he can beat Hopkins, etc..... and you certainly don't get to bash other (often A-level, or great) fighters, just because you need Golovkin to be great
my issue is with the way that Ward, Cotto, Canelo, Lara, along with a host of others..... have been disrespected/bashed/denigrated..... just to appease a rabid fanbase
let me give you an example, the Ward issue
forget the contract, for 2 reasons..... 1) because no fkn Golovkin fan gives a flying fat fk about legality, or about integrity..... 2) it is completely irrelevant in this case, because Ward threatened to RETIRE, which would not breach his contract with Kovalev.....
..... so, the situation with Ward/Kovalev, and with Golovkin/Jacobs is identical IN PRINCIPLE.....
..... BOTH close fights that could have gone either way
and yet, the Golovkin fans - bless them - whilst vehemently insisting that Ward must honor Kovalev with a rematch..... are happily insisting that Golovkin can move on.....
we get really sick of that two-faced shht and double-standardsComment

Ah, he doesn't want a unified champion anymore than the rest of the boxing media does. Pathetic. I wish GGG the best in unifying the title and bringing some dignity back to the sport. Pound for pound is BS anyway. He should take BJS down and unify the division. Then we'll get some decent middleweight fights and contenders will be forced to fight each other rather than hiding behind four different titles and defending against clowns. GGG is on the right path.By Lyle Fitzsimmons - Let's get a few things out of the way. I scored Saturday night's fight 114-113 in favor of Danny Jacobs, but in no way do I believe contrary to many of the social media troll persuasion that the word "robbery" in any way applies to the goings-on at the world's most famous midtown Manhattan arena. It was a close fight with a lot of close rounds. Shade a few of them in the opposite direction and you have yourself a different, albeit just as fair, result...

Boxing isn't just boxing ability; it's power too.
You either have it or you don't.
Hopkins threw the kitchen sink at a very green Glen Johnson for 11 rds, who only knew how to execute a jab and a cross, and still couldn't put him down. The referee made him a favor when he halted Glen who was still fighting back at the time of the stoppage.
Gennady would have gotten Johnson out of there in 6. Like he would have stopped Jermaine had they fought, instead of losing a decision.
And keep in mind Johnson is the best career middle Hopkins ever beat.Comment
