seriously its not hard to understand.

Floyd has the better record, better overall resume, more accolades etc

However Roy has a near shut out win over prime Toney, Floyd has no wins that come close to this.

So it basically comes down to what you value more.

Jones is more of an all-time great. Mayweather had this choreographed career with too much cherry picking, debatable results, boring decisions, etc.

Mayweather is the greater fighter and it's not even debatable. Roy Jones has the funner highlight videos on youtube doe...

        Also, Hopkins > Roy.

Knockouts!! People love the knockout bro. He would dance, stunt, make them miss and then blast they ****. Floyd's defense was better and had the better career but Roy gave me more **** for my buck.

Resume wise, I think Roy has it. He also was the underdog on big fights, took risks. Something I don't see on Mayweather's resume.

              Titles from MW to HW

How many people can win a HW title then come back down to win the undisputed lhw title ?

I mean that's more impressive than what Floyd has done considering their choice of opponents !

For anyone saying Floyd had a better resume his 1 win over a PRIME James Toney is better than any single win on Floyd's !

I'm not sure where Mayweather being outweighed by 20lb comes from.

For the record, Canelo weighed in at 165lb and Mayweather actually lost weight from weigh in to fight night (really? lol).

Anyway, Canelo could have out weighed Mayweather 30lb and it still wouldn't be the same, as no fighter gains muscle in the less than 24 hour period between weigh in and fight night. Neither does he gain 15lb of fat.

It is rehydration weight, mainly fluids containing electrolytes, I won't go into the basics of biology surrounding this type of weight gain but it is not the same as gaining 15lb of muscle and/or fat, surely you must understand this?

At the weigh in for the Jones fight, Jones came in at 193lb and Ruiz at 226lb, no weight limit clause at all. That's a whopping 33lb of extra muscle and fat weight. There is no comparison between what Jones did that night and what Mayweather did by shrinking a fellow champion in his own division.

I rate Floyd higher but this isn't comparable.

Accomplishments probably go to Mayweather. I think the MW-HW from Roy is the best title achievement between the two tho. Prime for Prime I think Roy was better. Both Great and Mayweather's longevity has to be taken into account.

Well yeah, it is lol. Not garbage but come on. Not a big win either.

Anyway, Jones' resume is, as was then, underrated. Moving up to beat a top five heavyweight is remarkable. Made 11, 12 defenses of a unified, undisputed LHW title. And of course beat Hopkins and Toney. That's ridiculous.

I go back and forth between who is greater between he and Mayweather, another fighter with an insane resume. There's too much hate to have a realistic debate about his accomplishments but cooler heads realize he is the clear best fighter of his generation at the very least. That he went through 18 or so years against 25 past or present champions and won each time is perhaps the most overlooked fact in this debate and that might edge it for him. However, I feel like what Canelo accomplishes going forward will be the decider in this debate. He's already a big win. If he goes on to have an ATG career that could catapult Mayweather into his own tier.

Funny you say that since the knock on Jones when he fought was that he was boring. That he didn't go for the KO. That he was content to outclass opponents he could put away. That was he scared to get hit. Silly complaint, really. As silly as any real boxing claiming Floyd, especially a prime version, was boring.
