I don't know if PBC was some scheme to just pocket money by over inflated fight purses. I think Haymon truly wanted to monopolize the sport and cut out the middle man (promoters and cable giants). His plan was to increase the pay for fighters in easy showcase fights in hopes to get HBO to try and keep up with him and he had the capital built up to takes loses knowing HBO couldn't sustain the same loses. Also it would attract other fighters to jump ship from their promoters to get those type of paydays. Problem is HBO played it perfect and refused to pay fighters based on what PBC is paying guys and were strategic in the types of fights they bought and the fans decided which product to support. HBO had a banner year and PBC killed their own credibility were bad mismatches that tanked in TV ratings.
But even if PBC loses and folds Haymon will not be done in Boxing. He definitely went into this covering his own @ss in case it fails. No doubt he is making money and at worst he loses all his investors money (not his own money) and crawls back to Showtime with his tail between his legs. He loses some power but he still has fighters signed. Showtime was being fazed out of Boxing by PBC. If PBC fails their stature increases and they remain a power player in boxing and Haymon can still get dates for his fighters on Showtime. The real question is without Mayweather and if PBC fails does that change the dynamic with Showtime? Right now Haymon calls the shots and can dictate what fights are made. I can envision a situation where Showtime becomes more like HBO where they start saying no to Haymon on mismatch fights and turns down fights because the asking price is too high.Comment

You mean like everyone else in the sport who gets a cut? What an observation.Comment

OP, why do you keep saying over inflated purses? WHat are you using to determine what the purse "should" be such that it is "inflated properly".?Comment

Well he's done the research. He can break it down by viewership, division, network and revenue.
He's a ****ing idiot, that's why. It's not that complicated.Comment

So what I gather from onepunch is he knows market value for what fighters should be getting and have determine Haymon guys is overpayed and bigduncy1 is a HBO pr machineComment

Right, Lara getting $1 million for Delvin friggin Rodriguez wasnt overpaying. Guerrero getting a million for Martinez wasnt overpaying either. LOL
I sure hope you never consider a career as a purchasing agent. If you do let me know, so I can short whatever company you work for......
Defending Haymon is one thing. I get it. Its just an extension of your Floyd boy-crush. But to try and argue that PBC purses are an accurate reflection of the market, well that just makes you look ******Last edited by OnePunch; 12-01-2015, 02:37 PM.Comment

You didn't provide anything other than your opinion. I'm just trying to gauge how you are judging "over inflated".Right, Lara getting $1 million for Delvin friggin Rodriguez wasnt overpaying. Guerrero getting a million for Martinez wasnt overpaying either. LOL

Isn't value determined by whatever is agreed upon in negotiations?Comment
