Sometimes they're right, sometimes they're wrong. But to get to $40 billion dollars you have to be right a lot more times than wrong. Tell me how much money you've made in investments by being right?

Be careful what you wish for. I would like some Haymon fighters on hbo too, but not if Haymon has control over matchmaking, future fights, etc. Then it becomes a huge mess that Haymon will leave behind again.

I havent made $40 billion, thats for sure. But I havent lost $275 billion either. But then again, I tend to be a bit more conservative with MY OWN money than an investor might be with someone elses lol

            uhmmmmmm, okay.....
Haymon doesn't seem to care if his guys are really the best, it's probably why you never see him push any unifications.

HBO brands themselves as holding the best product, it would be to their long-term interest to allow certain fighters to cross over and take out the established fighters on the other side of the street. Build up their fighters while decimating the opposition's product.

There's value for HBO in allowing a few selective one-offs.
Kovalev beats Stevenson, now he's a bigger star for HBO.
Golovkin beats Quillin/Jacobs, now he's a bigger star for HBO.

Nelson brought GGG to HBO so maybe this means HBO forces Canelo/GGG to happen next year.

I hope he is able to and willing to work with Haymon. Even if HBO isn't willing to pay top dollar for the top Haymon associated guys, I hope they are willing to put on a Spence or some of the lower weight guys like LSC.

I would like to see more Legendary Nights (which may happen given Nelson's background) and using all HBO platforms to air younger fighters and smaller weights.

Whatever happens I hope the political brick wall that is up gets taken down and we get the fights we want.

LOL. Its not like they started at 0 and just kept losing and losing and never had any success. you are leaving out is you have to be pretty successful to build up $275 billion. You also are aware that something that takes years to build can be lost in seconds.

Can't we just accept the fact that Haymon's plan, whether we know the intricacies or whether we like him or not, was good enough that it past the vetting process and got him almost $500 mil to execute said plan.

He gets a fight now for more money then he can make fighting anyone else and a direct shot at the title. Basically everything his team has been asking for. Then all a sudden they turn it down and want to go the eliminator route. It's not rocket science, Haymon shut the fight down wants to force a purse bid later on to force Kovalev to vacate his belt or fight on another network which his contract with HBO won't allow. So there won't be a bigger fight for more money down the line. He will likely get a vacant belt and the fight never happens. No other promoter or manager would advise a fighter to do what Beterbiev is doing and it's clearly only happening because of the Haymon dynamic with HBO.
The value of the 0 is great. Arum was trying with every atom in his body to get Loma to do the same thing. He's got some years on the older Beterbiev, but I don't think the situations or the mindset of the non-fighters (or the speculative mindset of Haymon) is bad necessarily with the dynamics of the money in boxing. You don't just wanna fight for the belt you wanna give yourself the best chance to win & keep the belt as long as possible + you wanna maximize your income upon getting that title shot vs the risk involved. Idr how much the offer for Beterbiev was for Kovalev, but I don't think its crazy to suggest thats a potential superfight where both guys are getting $2M+ at a later date vs some $500k or less type offer Beterbiev was probably given.

agreed. It would also be cool if HBO's entire fight library were available on HBO on Demand. I dont know from a technology perspective if thats expensive to do, (or if their broadcast rights are in perpetuity) but it would be awesome to pull up Barrera-Kelley or whatever HBO fight whenever you want to.......
