Povetkin fights Wach in November. Wilder should sneak in one more fight in Dec. or Jan. Then go for the megafight with Povetkin.

The arena holds 12,300 and as of yesterday there were 6,800 seats sold. This is in Wilder's backyard. The entire upper level was blocked out tonight and the bottom level was not close to full. Typical PBC boxing card but it was a shame to see that in the champion's home town.

It was a bad performance when putting into context who he was facing.
oh for sure even i wouldnt put my money on wilder but i also wouldnt count him out but like u said people need to put it in context. this was an obvious pick of a guy they knew wouldnt fall on first right hand and would keep coming forward i mean at end day the guy made it tough on wilder regardless if he is good or not its not like wilder wasnt lighting him up. they obviously picked him to prepare for povetkin im ok with that and also like i keep saying so what if hes vulnerable it just makes him that much more entertaining.

A championship belt allows a fighter bigger purses and bigger fights. It isn't just for Wilder to hold the WBC hostage and not fight mandatories, or even real contenders. Mismatches are not good for the fans either, or the opponents (how much you suppose Dupuhas made for this beating he took?).
They ordered negotiations for November dude. Stop whining. He's fighting his mando.

The problem for Wilder is that he is not really proficient at setting up his opponents for punches...he is reactive. This means that every time he starts his little telegraph dropping his hands Vlad would slap him with a jab. What Wilder should be able to do now is impose himself on the opposition.

I am no fan of Vlad's... But Wilder went back and fourth with this guy and this guy just does not throw any punches (I mean he throws very little). Soooo Wilder could afford to more or less decide when he wanted to attack.

Of course there is always the punchers chance.

I've never been a big wilder fan & I had many questions for him going into the stiverne fight. he answered them all. I think Wilder is improving as a fighter but I don't see him beating povetkin or klitschko. Povetkin has a great left hook & can fight in the inside. I knew Duhaupas would give him a tough go. Duhaupas fought Teper, Charr & Wilder in a 5.5 month period. That's impressive even though he was 1-2. Top 20 guy who has great heart & a solid chin but much like Chisora he doesn't have the hand speed to beat the top 10 guys. He can slug with the fringe guys & plodders but Wilder was too fast for him. He will be a gatekeeper & kassi will also get a few more dates too. Good card tonight...

Beating someone with little skill is not impressive when he almost goes the distance. Especially when Wilder's face looked so bad at the end of the fight. This guy should not have been able to last more than 4 or 5 rounds and should have never been any threat at all.

I'm not wining, and my expectation is that the negotiations will go through. I was responding to a specific quote, Mr. Illiterate. Gambler said previously that the Povetkin fight should be a year off, others in the thread are calling for a couple more 'midlevel guys'. Knowing Haymon, it is not entirely an impossibility it could go that way
