I mean if it ain't broke don't fix it. Only thing I'd change would be to bring back the ring-walk entrances and ring girls. Otherwise Haymon has the right business model.
What would you do to improve the "PBC" series?

The most highest rated Cable fights on HBO this year are: Canelo vs Kirkland, Cotto vs Geale, Golovkin vs Monroe and Klitchsko vs Jennings.
Two common themes between them is that they're all mismatches with a guaranteed KO to boot.
PBC needs to start making more of these types of fights if it's to capture the attention of casuals.Comment

Casuals trust HBO's brand of boxing since they've been doing it so long. The most highest rated Cable fights on HBO this year are: Canelo vs Kirkland, Cotto vs Geale, Golovkin vs Monroe and Klitchsko vs Jennings.

That's why Adonis Stevenson can go from great #s on HBO to horrible on Showtime, Fans didn't tune in for him, they tuned in because it was HBO boxing.
What works for HBO won't work for anyone else. Not to mention Cotto, Klitschko, Canelo, Golovkin, are bigger stars than anyone who fights on PBC.
Seriously, what stars has Haymon created since being in this sport?Comment

HBO also presents their fights in such a way that they all have a big fight feel to them. It's like comparable between an NFL playoff game and NFL preseason games -- the atmosphere & production quality. People roll their eyes and think this is network fanboy **** riding, but for real, that **** matters in the ratings, and particularly with casual fans. Hardcore fans like most on this board will tune in regardless of network, but the production level does make a difference no matter what people say.
HBO goes the extra mile (as did Showtime, but their days appear to be numbered now that the majority of their former top fighters are on PBC now) and it shows in the ratings.Comment

With Schaefer on board things will definitely change. He does need a front man because Haymon is strictly a behind the scenes type of guy. Someone that really sells the brand and explains why these are the fights that matter. He also needs a boxing guy or guys to push things in the proper direction.
Unfortunately for him, his guy has been forced to the sidelines for a spell, because if he had a different idea than Schaeffer that position would be filled already, instead of this holding pattern of pretty much getting by.
Once that move happens I think his product and overall direction of the brand will improve a lot.
They need to better allocate these fights, take the fights to the fighters hometown instead of Stubhub or MGM just because it's easier. The announce team should also be tweaked, a lot of those old school guys should be put out to pasture.
Everything else people are complaining about is trivial bull****, I want to see fights not some walk out or ring announcer.Comment

And I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but the whole PBC isn't complete until Schaeffer joins. He's the real boxing guy. Once he joins it's game over for other promoters and networks who don't air PBC bouts.Comment

I agree, but. A big part of that IMO is the fact HBO has been doing the "big fights" for so long that it just seems like they have better production quality.HBO also presents their fights in such a way that they all have a big fight feel to them. I don't think there's much difference in the production quality, but it just feels like it is, which is why I think casuals who tune into hbo won't tune into PBC.
People can say whatever they want About promoters, networks, etc etc, but I associate boxing stars with HBO.Comment

this and matchmaking...1 match making.... Every fight would be a competitve matchup, no more showcase fights.. Ufc does this very well, and pbc needs to follow
2 bring back fighters entrances... Entrances provide a window to a fighters personality, and people can get attached to certain fighters that way...
3 your own pbc belts... Pbc should have started with 4 man tournaments to crown a champ in each division..
4 stick to the classic divisions.. Heavy, cruiser, light heavy, middle, light, feather, bantam
No jr or super classes
5 normalize the schedule to one channel and one night at one time... Bellator grew because it's always on Friday night, wwe has Monday nights, nfl is Sunday... PBC needs one channel, one time on a certain day (Saturday night) and grow off that.. Flip flopping channels, times, days doesn't lend itself to building an audienceComment
