They literally have no opinion of their own and just piggy back off whatever ESPN is hyping at the time. And unfortunately, for the sport of boxing, outside of the absolute biggest names of the sport...boxing gets completely ignored. Even more so than motherf**king UFC, which blows my mind.
Well putting PBC on ESPN may have been a good idea then?

      Matchmaking.

You can't build a star by handing him easy fights. Every PPV headliner came up the hard way.

Unfortunately for him, his guy has been forced to the sidelines for a spell, because if he had a different idea than Schaeffer that position would be filled already, instead of this holding pattern of pretty much getting by.

Once that move happens I think his product and overall direction of the brand will improve a lot.
i never even reference Haymon cause im behind PBC. Schaeffer will be there soon and things will really get going

It is, but it remains to be seen if the network actually puts anymore actual focus on the sport as a whole than they did previously. Which was zero. And while I'm not a hardcore ESPN/Sportscenter viewer like I was at one point years ago, I still flip by it occasionally, and I still see next to zero mention of the sport. Ever.

And by the way, I know it's not PBC which is a higher brand of boxing (obviously) compared to Friday Night Fights, but they still had a boxing series on their network -- and still their coverage of the sport outside of that particular series was zero. The only names they would even mention on Sportscenter were two: Mayweather & Pacquiao. That's it.

It doesn't have Canelo, Cotto, GGG, Pac, Wlad, Kovalev, Bradley, Crawford, Marquez...it doesn't even have Floyd; Haymon's one truly great project.

The fundamental problem is that the whole of boxing isn't on the series. Haymon's stable will not be enough. Neither would Top Rank's. They all needed to work together. But that was never going to happen, and will never happen.
True. Imo all top rank & odh have to is swallow their pride & call haymon to get their guys on his program. But that's not gonna happen. Then again, GBP is promoting the wilder fight. Hbo & showtime are the ones signing the fighter strictly to their shows. Imo the "big" fights can be taken up by Hbo & showtime ppv.

              Better fights. More competitive fights.

If they want to keep the casual fans tuning in, i think they need to go all out a bit more with the production. Better commentary, ring walks, card girls.
I can live without ring entrances and the like, they're no big deal. I think casual fans will find the current set-up a little to 'cheap' looking through (for want of a better word). It could turn them off.

To be honest it's on regular t.v. I wouldn't change anything about it. I have gotten nothing but positive feedback about PBC from casual boxing fans from work or from a couple of buddies that don't care to pay for it on HBO or Showtime.

Yeah but the smart thing about Haymon is he wants outlet buy-in. He made NBC provide top on-air talent and feature it on their promos.

I imagine he will do the same with ESPN. He's not into just buying airtime

                    Same here.

My Casual friends who enjoyed the fights had no idea who the fav was. Knew a few names but for most part just enjoyed fights.

Guerrero/martinez fight got a few more anticipating next card.

Only bad thing is Spike TV is only live on SD buts thats minor

Bring back the classic walk ins,the ring announcer, the girls with nice bodies and skimpy clothing telling us what round it is. Those three things have been staples of boxing and when you take them out of the equation, even if they're only minor details,it throws the whole image off. PS,let the fighters get more than a 15 second interview. They won the fight, so give them at least 30-40 second to talk and answer questions.
