His fan base are the hispanic, i thought this was obvious.

I think they would just to make a statment! They have much less to lose and risk as opposed to Showtime.

Remember, styles make fights and aside from the small percentage of floyd diehards vs's the casuals that would tune in for a Canelo/Cotto match, Showtime would lose a ton of money if Floyd were to go up against anyone other than Pacquiao on that date.

      Floyd vs Pacquiao.....HBO backs down.

Floyd vs anyone else.....HBO goes forward with Canelo/Cotto.

Just because hispanics attend and buy the ppv fights when Floyd is fighting a hispanic doesnt mean that they're spending the money to see HIM.

Let Floyd fight Devon Alexander in Vegas and see how many hispanics show up.

They are not going to risk anything, they already know Mayweather-Pacquiao would never happen, no need to beat a dead horse. I hope they make that "Statement" and move forward with their risk and then we would see which network loses out. You make business moves basis on the market not over fan boys dreams.

Whether they spend money to see him lose or win they are his biggest fanbase, He fought Hatton they show up, he fought Mosley they show up. They just love boxing not fanboyism which i think i can admire about them.

If you ask me, part of Canelo's deal by moving back to HBO is them granting him those dates.

Granted they do love boxing and Floyd vs Hatton and Mosley were great matchups. That's why everyone tuned in. Both were very intriguing fights. But if it comes down to Canelo/Cotto vs Floyd vs someone not Pacquaio, trust me the latinos will flock to the Cotto/Canelo matchup!

Wouldnt it be great if Canelo were to come out and say "the only way I back off from fighting in May is if Floyd fights Pacquiao!" It would be a win/win for HBO.

He's not looking to out due Mayweather in PPV buys. He's looking to out due his PPV buys targeting his latin fan base by targeting Mexican holidays. If he's fighting a worthy opponent on those dates and gets 600,000 PPV buys that's a victory in itself. Why don't you get that? Furthermore, why do people evade the question and answer it with other questions? If Floyd is the true PPV king like he claims in his interviews than he should be able to do record breaking numbers on any date, right? By saying no than you agree that he needs that fan base.

I thought I answered the question quite clearly. Yes, he needs the fan base because he wants their money. His nickname didn't tip you off?

What I do get is that Canelo is being a fool and is not business minded. He's getting punched in the head for money. If he wants to throw away money for 2 fights rather than maximize his profits now as well as become the main draw in on year's time, well that proves what a numbskull he is. While he's at it, why not just go all out and throw the fight to regular HBO or telemundo or whatever. Give his fans a free treat.
