If Floyd wants to fight on Cinco de mayo wknd then he better be serious about making a fight with Pac happen. If Canelo faces off against Cotto which is the likely scenario, then I dont see Floyd outdoing that with anyone else, nor do I see Showtime approving anything less given the money they would lose with the guarantee that they have to pay Floyd.

Cotto-Alvarez I & Cotto-Alvarez II.

The advantage HBO will have with these ppv cards vs Showtime with Mayweather vs Khan and Garcia is that HBO doesn't have to guarantee over $30 million for just one guy. If both Cotto & Alvarez take $10 mill guarantee's there's a lot less pressure to pull in super high numbers. Mayweather has the momentum with his name, but I think both boxing fans and casual fans will jump for something fresh.

Canelo with hbo... They are gonna make a power grab and have cotto-canelo for May 5th.. If I was HBO, I would try and announce it now since Floyd won't have an opponent till January/February..

This would force Floyd to either move off the date, or fight manny which is the only fight that can trump canelo-cotto at the box office.. And if Floyd fights manny it's a win for HBO since they have manny, and hbo can still do canelo-cotto in June or April

With that said, Canelo doesn't have the star power to take those dates. He can't even pull more than 400,000 ppvs by himself. He has to be matched up extremely well for it to happen. A fight with Cotto is a given. other than that?
