I dont see showtime pulling the trigger to stage a fight on the same date if Canelo is facing Cotto and Floyd doesnt face Pac. I just dont see Showtime risking another financial disaster. If Canelo stays firm and fights Cotto, showtime will blink!
Canelo: "I'm fighting in May and Sept regardless who else fights!"

How about having some respect for an all time great? Mayweather only has one year left, and only 2 more fights. Why can't Canelo just wait his turn and let a legend ride out on top? Not to mention that legend completely outclassed him. I can certainly understand him wanting these dates, but it's only one more year that he would have to wait, and then he can have those dates for as long as he can keep winning. He should hope that he will one day be mentioned in the same breath as Mayweather when his career is over.
Show some respect and bow down to your father, Canelo.
If Floyd is such a draw he should be able to stage a fight on a sunday afternoon and draw! No? Why piggyback off of the Mexican/Latino fanbase? As many have stated already, Floyd claims he's proud to be an American right? So then why not fight on significant American dates such as July4th wknd and Martin Luther King wknd or even Thanksgiving wknd?Comment

How about because it's about business and it makes sense to draw all of the American fans that he can plus all of the latinos that he can since boxing is huge amongst latinos. It's not like Americans don't watch just because it's a Mexican holiday, but we know the dates are huge boxing dates for the biggest boxing fan base, so it makes business sense. If Floyd is such a draw he should be able to stage a fight on a sunday afternoon and draw! If you were promoting a soccer match, would you rather stage it in America or just about anywhere else in the world? I didn't go to business school, but the answer should be obvious.Comment

If it's "business" than why are you knocking Canelo for doing the same? He wants to maximize his revenue and those dates since he is actually Mexican and wants to give his fan base something to look forward too on those holidays. How about because it's about business and it makes sense to draw all of the American fans that he can plus all of the latinos that he can since boxing is huge amongst latinos. Floyd is not Mexican. And given the choice, I think Mexicans will back the Mexican fighter(s) on their national holidays.
They watch Floyd because there's no one else to watch during their special holiday. They just love boxing so they watch. Plus, Floyd strategically picks Mexican/latino fighters often.Comment

Dont you know? Its only smart business when Floyd does it.

Um....how is it smart business to go head to head with Mayweather? How will that maximize his revenues?
It won't, point blank.Comment

It's idiotic logic. I'm not a Canelo or Pacquiao fan but when someone wants to fight on a certain day because of their heritage and it's obvious that they are proud of their heritage than they should be able to fight on that date.Comment
