I think it will go something like this. I think Canelo/Cotto gets announced later this year for Cinco de Mayo weekend with the caveat that if Floyd/Manny happens they move off the date to June where Cotto is a big draw in MSG.
That forces Showtime to either move Floyd off the date or force the Pacquiao fight. I don't see Floyd's ego allowing anyone to force him to take a fight he clearly wants nothing to do with.

And this is the hand that HBO should play!

To casuals its just a runners up, 2nd rated matchup which is why both guys just had huge fights that couldn't do 400k. Floyd may fight Pac but it has nothing to do with them. I bet anything that a Khan fight out sells them head to head because the casuals will always go with a Floyd or Pac fight over there son's
I think this is a point that posters need to pay more attention to. Casual, mainstream American sports fans drive PPV sales. Last I checked, they showed how interested they were in Canelo and Cotto with the number of PPV purchases both got-numbers both promoters called disappointing and below expectations.

Floyd is definitely at a low point in terms of his ability to draw sales. Gamblers didn't show interest. He admitted All Access lifestyle was fake. He got killed by Rachel Nichols. The Fight Game attacked him. Low for Floyd is still better, significantly better, than anyone else.

I think the business community in Las Vegas will also have a big say in what happens. Tourism dollars are down in Vegas. Floyd fights are 2 of the most, if not the most, profitable weekends in Vegas. Would Vegas risk that? But Canelo doesn't have to fight in Vegas-Mexico and Texas are viable options.

Should be interesting moving forward. As of right now, I think Floyd moves off the date-maybe goes to England for Khan. If not that-maybe he guarantees cotto $12 mil plus ppv to fight in NYC.

        will be interesting.

Floyd and Canelo going H2H would be very intriguing. HBO and SHO have gone H2H before, but never on the PPV platform. It'll force fans to choose the card that gives them the most **** for their buck. Floyd has been sitting on May and September unchallenged, and I think it's about time that someone throws down the gauntlet.

HBO and SHowtime may be willing to go head to head but the PPV providers (Comcast, DirectTV, AT&T) will pick one and they would probably side with the bigger seller who makes them the most money.

                Exactly!!

I remember being called a fool for being a fan of the "hype-job".

But really its cause hes against Floyd. Not in the ring cause we already know what happened there but they are still rooting for floyd to fail in any aspect of life. This kind of envy is sad to watch.

If Canelo vs Cotto happens Floyd's numbers take the bigger hit. There is a reason Floyd loves to fight on those dates and very few Mexicans if any would watch Floyd vs Khan over Canelo vs Cotto and very few Cotto fans if any would watch Floyd vs khan over Canel vs Cotto. IMO Canelo vs Cotto would do more PPV's if this happens.

Canelo is a star and it will bring the numbers down for whoever Mayweather fights but he might be getting a little carried away directly competing with Mayweather...

His two headlined ppv events were no higher than 400k, those are good numbers but not Mayweather numbers. Canelo-Cotto may seem like a better fight than Mayweather-Khan for example but i'm not convinced they would do more buys.

It's good for boxing anyway, imagine Canelo-Cotto and Mayweather-whoever on the same night?

King Canelo is determined to fight on those dates. It's obvious Showtime didn't allow him to have those dates, hence the reason why he signed with HBO.

Mayweather better cancel those dates and do some rescheduling. Otherwise, he'll end up getting 100K.
