Hill I thought was quite good though. He was #1 at 175 when Jones fought him.

I agree those wins for Mayweather are probably better but Hill was still a good win for sure especially the way he did it.

Funny that Hill is been touted though for Roy and Hearns beat him first and the guy was asking who Hearns had beaten at 160 and above
Hill had a solid career. Many defenses, must mostly he was just holding a title captive. He was making defenses against guys that were 9-3... 12-8... 20-10..

These were 3 of his 4 defenses before he lost to Hearns.

Most the guys he fought with decent records were guys who built them in the middle of nowhere against cab drivers.

He had some solid wins, but nothing that you can really count as great.

      Agreed 100%

What I don't agree with are the ATG standards of boxingscene because depending on when someone is "born", they might NEVER have a chance to be an ATG.

In other words, ATG is more weighed on when you're born and the era you fight in over actually being an All Time Great

If you were born in the 70's as opposed to the 40's, you're fcuked

Has anybody actually disagreed that Roy Jones is an ATG?

i see this word thrown around with roy jones quite a bit.

you're talking about athletic talent. skills are things that are taught and learned. you are born with talent.

              Duran

Duran's resume wasn't the greatest yet he is PFP ranked #8!

So why are you saying that on NSB you might never get a chance to be called an ATG, depending on when you're born.

Everybody is agreeing that Roy is an ATG. No question - there are questions around his position though.

Prime Roy? How can someone in their prime be the goat? That doesn't really make sense to me. Either you're the greatest, or you're not the greatest. Did he have a bigger career than Ray Leonard?

I rate a fighter based off of what I see from him in his abilities in the ring. That's greatest of all time to "me" subjectively.

Others rate a fighter off of when they were born and what era they fought in. Although, I understand where they're coming from because how else can you gauge someone's ability but who's to say if said fighter fought in {insert era} the same wouldn't happen if not more.

I also think too much emphasis is put into life and death battles/wars. Roy is in a bad situation because I think if had he had wars in his prime like SRR, SRL and Ali did, he would be more respected. But because folks never came close to prime Roy, his era gets criticized and so does his strength of schedule

Duran's resume is pretty awesome though I'd say.

Roy wasn't born fighting like Roy Jones. Call it whatever you will, who would have been able to beat Roy Jones on his best night?
