Comments Thread For: Argenis Mendez' Team To Appeal Barthelemy KO Outcome

The KO punch was clearly after the bell, and regardless of whether he heard the bell or not, or whether it was a mistake or not, he won with a blow that is illegal according to the rules.
The result shouldn't stand just because Bathelemy was dominating after about 2 rounds; plenty of fighters come back from very shaky moments early in fights, and 2 very good rounds for Barthelemy does not mean that he would've won or that he should be allowed to win with illegal blows.Comment

I was bordering on shock. I expected Rances to win, but nothing like that easily. The first good shot Argenis took wobbled him. Then Bart knocked him down twice in the following round, the last one for good. I've never seen Rances look so sharp. He must be so glad to have gotten rid of John David Jackson (who is now with Mendez) as his trainer. lolComment

I agree with everything you wrote. So what should be done about the illegal KO punch? The KO punch was clearly after the bell, and regardless of whether he heard the bell or not, or whether it was a mistake or not, he won with a blow that is illegal according to the rules.

It's boxing throwing punches relentlessly is what they do it ain't ping pong that's why low blows can be "unintentionall" or intentional you thinking about a fight like they are playing golf or something let's see you stop yourself in the middle of throwing 4 punches in a sport where the smallest of errors can get you put to sleep. If you start throwing punches is not as easy to stop in the span of a second as you make it sound like it's a switch, and that's why its the damn ref's job to stop the action at the bell and alert the fighters to stop at the bell as well.DQ, NC, whatever. Mendez should not have lost on a foul. But how can you call throwing punches "unintentional" or accidental.
Also who cares if the combo started before the bell? What if a fighter wanted to throw a 100 punch combo, that would be ok, even if the bell rang after the 1st punch? The punches that KO'd him were after the bell
Also something else that is the ref responsibility is judge fouls as he sees them he judged the blows where still in the heat of the action Barth was throwing his combo Mendez had his guard 100% up and got ktfo that's why probably why he deemed it legal.Comment

I don't find it egregious enough to overturn. The ref didn't step in, and it's reasonable to believe that a bloodthirsty Barthelemy was more focused on his combination than listening for the bell. I weigh these on a case by case basis, and this one falls under protect yourself at all times.Comment

Lol I know you're trying to be funny and all but did you see Mendez do the PEDerson? I think he would've needed a week, not 5 mins.Originally posted by PACnPBFsuckI wonder if the ref could've given him 5-10 minutes to recover and let Bart finish what he had started.
I shouldn't be laughing tho. I ****s with Mendez.

That doesnt mean its right that Mendez gets KO'd after the bell. But he's Cuban, so u have to support him i guesss
Cu****uy out of everybody...
