wow, vitaly fans are schooling the sore losers aka haters here lol
Im not even a big Vitaly fan, but how can you argue that he has a weak resume? lol
Lewis, who is one of the greatest HWs of all time almost got killed against Vitaly and retired to avoid rematch,
Vitaly smoked everyone he fought, except for Byrd and Lewis (both injury loses) He came back after 4 year layoff to TKO WBC champ easily. Who has done something like that before?

Only Wladimir has a better resume in the Klitschko era.
According to Vitaly haters, Lewis is also ****? Why did he look so bad vs Vitaly, who was pretty green at the time?
According to Vitaly haters, everyone Vitaly ever fought and will fight is **** lol
    even Lennox Lewis
    crack is a helluva drug!

How was Vitali green? He'd been a pro for almost seven years and had 33 fights. Rahman had been a pro about the same amount of time, with only a couple more fights and some rough losses and he actually won. No one would have called him green.

I think some of the cases made against Vitali are way too harsh (while also thinking those arguing him as having an all time resume are fanciful).

Either way, there's some, um, entertaining cases made in this thread.

I just got a nasty karma gram (ooooooo no) from Boxing Goat because I pointed out the paper nature of Peter's title claim before the Vitali fight. It's just a simple process of elimination argument; it's the same logic used to eliminate Iran Barkley from the lineage argument leading to Nunn-Kalambay.

It doesn't make the Peter win unimpressive. That was nice work four years off the bench. It does point out how irrational Goat is.

Red K back at ya nitwit.

I almost never block posters but, yeah, you're dismissed.

By accomplished... that means they managed to be competitive with everyone else they fought excluding the Klitschko's with a few rare exceptions. A lot of the fighters they fought.. there careers were never the same afterwards.. some they even retired. Lewis.. Briggs.. Brock... etc.

There's two champions.. either you think there's not one true champion or there's two.. saying there's only one shows a lack of boxing IQ.. Vitali beats HAYE & both brother's have two apiece. Vitali didn't need another belt to show his worth... the fighter makes the belt & that is the mentality here. WBC was stripped from Lewis & Vitali won it twice afterwards 5 yrs apart. Wba & IBF was also stripped from him... He didn't defend three of his belts.. all to 3 long reigning titlists in Byrd, Ruiz & Klitschko in the rematch when it was mandated... You ridicule Klitschko for NOT seeking a rematch with Byrd but think it's fine for Lewis to vacate his belt NOT to fight Byrd.

This is the type of champion you appreciate.... Lewis avoided 3 of the longest reigning champions of the past decade & a half & he's revered as a true champion while both Klitschko's have always fought there mandatories with the lone exception being Rahman due to injuries suffered by Klitschko.

Try reading posts in context of the discussion you ignorant douchebag: We were specifically comparing post-layoff fights.
Read what you wrote.. you phrased it in a way as to include Vitali's entire opposition throughout his career. I was involved in the conversation & also thought you meant his ENTIRE comp. You didn't phrase it accurately is all that was.

Lewis didn't avoid Ruiz. You're repeating something you've heard with no context. Lewis in fact tried to make that fight. It was a classic Don King play.

Ruiz had been maneuvered into a WBA mandatory for doing, well, not much. There was a stip in the Holyfield contracts saying the WBA mando would get next crack but, after Holy II, the mando was Akinwande. Lewis signed to fight Grant because, well, did you see Henry I. Akinwande couldn't fight anyways with Hepatitis so the WBA used some formula (details escape) to come up with a new mando.

Holy was their guy on formula.

                  That wasn't going to work.

So they reprocessed again and came up with Ruiz. Lewis appealed to the WBA and said he was fine with Ruiz after the Grant fight. The WBA said okay. Ruiz could have had the slot after Grant, which ultimately was Botha.

King and Ruiz took it to court and had Lewis stripped instead. King, one could make an easy argument, preferred having control of a belt in a division where he was suddenly outside looking in versus putting Ruiz, who would have been a monster underdog, in with Lewis.

Smart move. The facts don't bear out what you're saying though. They instead point to Ruiz avoiding Lewis.

The Byrd thing was interesting. Steward indicated Lewis wasn't interested in Byrd because there was no money or competitive interest but, legend has it, King till ultimately gave Lewis a huge dollar amount and maybe a car to get him to vacate the IBF belt. Who knows if he fights him otherwise. Probably not. I wouldn't call it avoiding as much as not caring about Byrd much at all. The window for the fight was very small too. Lewis fought only once more and then went to go enjoy the fruits of his labors. Not much of a miss.

Brock? You obviously don't even know what you're talking about here, but let me give you a real breakdown of Vits last 10 opponents.

Charr - Never beat a top 10 rated fighter
Chisora - 17 fights ad a win over a 16 fight novice who was hurt and somehow ranked because of the poor state of the division.
Adamek - Had only 5 fights at heavyweight, beat one top 10 who had beaten no top 10 fighters. Has since inly beaten one other top 10 fighter who is a former cruiserweight.
Solis - 17 fights no top 10 wins before or after.
Briggs - hadn't won a top 10 fight in 4 years and clearly far beyond his best days.
Sosnowski - Never beat a top 10 fighter before or since.
Johnson - Never beat a top 10 fighter before or since.
Arreola - had never beat a top 10 fighter and has since only beaten one who most say didn't deserve to be ranked.
Gomez - Another former cruiser. Decent win for Vits though. At least Gomez beat a couple rated guys....has done nothing since though.
Peter - went life and death with a fat former middleweight and had two other top 10 wins. Easily the best win for Vits out of this lot. Hasn't beaten another top 10 fighter since and had crude skills at best.

Do I really need to continue destroying your ridiculous claims? This lot has a combined 10 wins before and after Vits against top 10 comp in a reasonable amount of time.

I actually think Adamek is a better win than Peter. Close call, but I think he could have beaten Peter just boxing him. He's also, generally speaking, a flat better fighter. Peter more dangerous for a single shot for sure.
