Ron Lyle would have a higher KO ratio than Vitali and would be undefeated if he faced the competition Vitali has.

that doesn't sound silly to you?

if only lewis didn't punch the guy he could have been champion of the world.
lol the vit is an ATG argument in a nutshell. Damn that Lewis ... didn't he realize punching Vitali in the face isn't fair??

Vitali is not on the current Boxr** rankings anymore after a year of inactivity has been lapsed. Before that, he was ranked ahead of Wladimir and had been for quite some time.

Incidently, Boxr** has him ranked as the 38th best heavyweight of all time right behind Elmer Ray, who never even fought for a world title.

That kind of goes straight against what this thread is about.

But like the TS said before, Boxr** is not perfect.

The thing with Vitali is....that there isn't a blueprint to beat him

Sure there is, just make him hurt his shoulder or cut him.

Oh wait, that didn't work for Chisora and Kevin Johnson.

Okay, just bring a bat to the ring.

In fairness, If Lewis thought he would have won a rematch, he would have taken the fight.

Lennox's time had lapsed by then. He was 38 and it's not like his skills were going to vastly improve. Better to quit while you're ahead.

First off, he retired when he was 37 still if I'm not mistaken.

That makes not much difference seeing as how Vitali is 42 and still dominating.

That said, it was the biggest fight in boxing at that time and Lennox chose to retire rather than get in the ring with Vitali again, even for a career high gauranteed payday.

That says it all. You don't have to agree.

Edit: He was 37 when he fought Vitali and was indeed 38 when he retired. I stand corrected.

He would have had a higher ratio of being KO'd maybe.

The average heavyweight today is bigger than most of the fighters he had faced easily.
