    • i think chavez jr. does much better in a rematch.

jr. was taking a huge beating but he never quit. he is more than deserving of a rematch.

i was rooting for sergio due to the fact that jr is a spoiled lazy brat, but by the end of the fight, i found myself rooting for jr.

      jr. earned my respect begrudgingly.

      • Just watched the 12th round again and Martinez handled it thoroughly. Chavez ain't got nothing for him.

Pavlik.... Both him and Chavez got a similar come forward pressure style but Pavlik may have the heaviest sledge hammer and better boxing skills. The only thing that can save Chavez in that fight is his chin but Pavlik may crack it.

I watched it again earlier and if not for the knock down it was a close round. And Box Rec must be Junior fans because they have no comments about the fight and a link to You Tube that only shows the 12th round.

martinez's chin is questionable? WTF are you talking about?? I don't think that getting dropped by a guy who weights at least 20lbs heavier and that he dominated for 11 rounds means that you have questionable chin....

Many scenarios could have played out such as if JCC had started earlier and threw when Martinez threw, and applied a more effective pressure, he could have worn Martinez down earlier and Martinez would not have had his way as much and there would be less return fire making it more difficult for Martinez to get off and even create a cut.

To say JCC will not improve from fighting a top 3 guy is pure ******. You have no idea what burns inside another man and to claim you do is arrogant and pompous. Martinez is 38 and has reached his ceiling, JCC can adapt and learn from a loss and it is far from out of the question that he could make adjustments and win or make a rematch much closer.

I agree, which is why people wanna see a rematch. It seems like Chavez might've been injured too (somebody in another thread said he had a knee brace on).

However, some people have this mind-frame that the rematch will be an extension of round 12, it's gonna be an entirely new fight. He's gonna have to try to employ a better strategy on a 100% fresh Martinez right from the beginning. Chavez better realize that Sergio will make the proper adjustments so he can stop him this time. Jr cannot afford to balloon up in weight like he usually does, he needs to show some discipline and try to maintain his weight around 175. But I don't even think that will be enough cuz Sergio will just his weight against him.
