Exactly! It's obvious many are afraid of that happening.

I would be lying if i didnt say i wouldnt mind seeing Martinez get another payday but overall i choose the sport over the finacial part of it. But as it is the finances always wins, just dont agree with it.

      • I have never seen Sergio so exhausted between rounds 5-9. Chavez was holding is own (his face that is) but I was always getting the feeling that he was getting warmer, even as the blood flowed from his nose and mouth. When Sergio got cut, he did the right thing and turned it up but he just didn't have enough to stop Chavez and the end result is what it is. He was trying to knock Jr out like he said he would. like his previous fights. The return fire surprised him and he ended up paying the price in a fight he could of ran away with (literally). He knows what the fans expected. usually, Sergio is the stronger fighter after 10 rounds, but not in this case. i expect Sergio to go for broke early in the rematch, or to make sure to stay away (which he will most likely do). still he suffered a hand injury and a ligament tear both of which at his age will not help. i wish him the best though.

Unlike you I don't give him much credit for winning 20 seconds of a 12 round fight. And sometimes in life you only get one chance and Junior blew it. I am also not fooled by Junior he is simply a very average fighter. What I think Junior should do is move up to 168 so he can get his a$$ kicked in two divisions. I know I will enjoy watching it happen.

          • I became a fan of Jr and a bigger fan of Sergio. Sergio on a bad knee in round 12 finished strong. Kellerman called it. He basically said that Jr better try to close out the show, or risk embarrassment. Jr didn't embarrass himself. He almost did until he hurt Serg. I gave Jr round 2. Other rounds were close but Serg being the true champion that he is wouldn't let Jr take away the play.

Wrong, if the public wants the fight, they will get it. People will fill the seats to see what they feel is either a repeat or a reversal. If JCC wants a rematch, he will get it. No way does Martinez turn down a huge payday.

I think what Raven meant was, Chavez will only get one chance at remaking history (Sr. stopped Taylor in the 12th). That would've been a defining moment in Jr's career had he pulled it off, he would've drawn a parallel with his father's legacy and therefore started his own. It's highly unlikely that he'll ever find himself in that situation again.

If Junior wants the rematch? You all are really delusional you make it sound like the clown won the fight.

Yes, I believe he blew a defining moment. Because I will say it again he is a very average fighter. You want defining moments Rahman, a very average fighter, knocking out Lewis. Douglas, a fighter with underrated skills, but had no heart and that made him average in my book. His defining moment was obviously in Tokyo back in 1990. Than you have Junior. A fighter who had all the pieces put in place by his daddy and God father and when it came time to step up the plate he wasn't able to pull it off. Was it his fault? I don't think so because as I already said he is not a very good fighter and in my opinion Sergio shouldn't get all that much credit for beating him.

                    • in this day and age, legacy and chasing greatness only comes second to the almighty buck. deserved or not, if a rematch can fill the pockets of a fighter and the people around him full..it will happen.
