When was the last time those two fought a PRIME Hall of famer? I'll wait here.
Ive got pac at number 2 i think thats pretty good dont you? Hes looked bad in his past three fights. Thats all i respect the mans career but feel floyd is a better fighter. This is about Ward though and hes on his way to that top spot not there yet though.

There's fighters out there for him to face at 168 and 175. There's still Dirrell at 168, Cloud or Pascal at 175. I would really like to see him and Dawson fight at 175, where Dawson would be at 100%

He didn't move up and fight Chad at 175. Chad was the one trying to be p4p, not Ward. Ward doesn't skip over Pacquiao or Mayweather then guys have fought in over 7 weight classes! Thats what p4p is! and Sergio is still holding down the 3rd slot.. I need to see Ward at 175 first..

Based on your very whack logic Ali, Louis, Hagler and others wouldn't be eligible for a P4P list. P4P is based on dominance not division jumping. Ali is on everybodies P4P All time list and so is Hagler and others. The only one who would dispute that is a person that knows absolutely nothing about boxing.

          • Ward looked just as good as always & put the correct shots together to get this great victory..But on the other hand Dawson looked weak & looked like going down in weight did affect him & it also looked like Dawson left his heart in Connecticut & forgot to take it to Oakland...Good win for Ward & back to the drawing board for Dawson cause even thou Dawson is still a title holder at light heavyweight, this lost does somehow sets him back..

Chad was use to fighting older, slower fighters and had no answer for the young, fresh lion. Remember Chad loss to Pascal.

P4P is simply a way of comparing fighters who fight at different weight classes. It has nothing to do with a fighter's abilty to move up or down in weight. You don't see the Klitschkos moving down to cruiserweight, but they are still worthy of being ranked in the top 10 P4P.

Everyone has their opinions about the P4P rankings (and that is all they are, opinions). Before the Ward/Dawson fight, my top five P4P were: Mayweather, Martinez, Andre Ward, J.M. Marquez and Pacquaio. It doesn't change after this fight. However, if Chavez Jr. beats Martinez next week, I would make Ward number 2.

                  • the weight drain (alleged) is a red herring. People who know how good ward really is knew there was no way dawson could best him.... Another red herring is wards ko percentage...ward can knock you out....he can also swarm you, beat you up inside and even jab you...the guy has all the skills and takes what he needs when he needs it.... Like Mayweather ward is a fighter...not an athlete, he has been taught how to box and to replace weakness with skill.

By comparison? Dawson is an athletically gifted puncher who can fight on the outside and who has the athletic ability to stay away from other punchers. Dawson also has a chin, and good straight punches. But you have to be Dreaming to think an athletically talented limited fighter with so many weaknesses could Best a guy like ward....at any weight. All ward ever had to do was take the fight inside...dawson had neither the strength or skills to fight inside.a younger Hopkins would have done the same because these guys today CANNOT FIGHT INSIDE!

                    • P4P:
                      Ward 1/2
                      PBF 1/2
                      MArtinez 3

No question i thought Dawson would put up more of a fight but Ward just outclassed him and showed he is a true elite. Mayweather may still be number 1 but Ward closed that gap and even mat have taken it over tonight. I dont care about how many divisions he has fought in, he just beat the best LHW and destroyed all top ranked SMW.
