Was he dominating everyone at that point? Not really.

You don't have to take beatings to age in Boxing, but that's beside the point. Robinson took his fair share of shots.

I don't think anyone is claming he was shot or even close to shot but he was certainly passed his best days.

      Similar to Mayweather today perhaps.

from watching a few of the vids you could tell he had speed, power, timing and accuracy not to mention the chin he would of possessed considering the glove sizes back then he would of had to have a good one. his footwork was real neat aswell but i could tell when he went back wards he would walk backwards and not in stance this lead him to get pushed off balance sometimes.

Floyd is 35 going on 36...but this has nothing to do with Floyd..Robinson looked great in that clip so i dont know why his age was even mentioned, while at the same time saying he looked way better than floyd

Who said he was done? Did I say he was done?

Did anyone? I can't see it.

And that's The Ring's opinion. But a valid one.

How can the man be the GOAT when his best wins are against faded opposition with near 20 losses?

He lost to Randolph Turpin & didn't exactly sparkle in the rematch, Randolph Turpin with all due respect was average at best but apparently because he beat Sugar Ray, he was amazeballs!
Oh and don't forget folks, he won so this means Sugar Ray was passed his prime lol

Same with Gene Fullmer - Robinson was shot.

He beat Jake LaMotta about 12 times, why did he fight him 10 times or more? That is the modern day equivalent to Wlad rematching Tony Thompson another 10 times!

Holly Mims - 20-8-4 record against bums and he was a beast?

Robinsons resume is almost laughable. The only thing remotely impressive the guy did was beat a faded Henry Armstrong

                  It's just a comparison.

Again, age is just a number. People age differently.

Robinson was very capable at that point in his career. No doubt was he one of, if not the best fighter in the world. No way was he even close to shot or finished.

But, he was obviously well passed his best days. Does that mean he was shot? No. Boxing isn't two extremes, there is a place called "The middle" and so forth.

I'd say Robinson then was similar to how Mayweather is now. Passed his best, but still the best fighter in the world. At worst, amongst the best.

Who wouldn't look fast, accurate & powerful in a pair of modified 6oz gardening gloves? If Paulie Malignaggi wore those gloves, he would have a 80% K.O ratio.
