Boomer the reason hes getting so much hype is because he will fight everyone and all these more popular fighters are avoiding him because he has what it takes to beat them or make it a dog fight. Promoters know that he can beat alot of people but since he cant sell tickets they keep him in the backburner. If Canelo could beat him they would have already matched him up with them. They dont want any piece of him. Hes not a god at 154 but hes a damn good fighter that will beat the hype off of almost anyone in the division.

Good fighters for the MW division.

Good doesn't equate to world beater or even pound for pound. I consider any fighter that is top 10 in his division, a good fighter. Let's not create extremes and ignore the middle. It's like if a fighter isn't great he is trash and if he isn't the best in his division he sucks.

Look, if you like listening to Lil Wayne, Drake and Chris Brown that's fine. But don't compare to music to boxing first of all, the business are a lot different. The way music artists become mainstream is by appealing to the female fanbase. Hence Lil Wayne going from rapping about his block is hot to rapping with Bobby Valentino and Chris Brown to maximize his exposure to females and look for a new fanbase to sell more records. When you appeal to a new fanbase, you lose your a lot of your old fanbase, that's how music business has always worked. Realize why groups like Wu-Tang Clan, rappers like Nas, etc, never get disrespected no matter how mainstream they got, it's because they became popular and stuck to their original style instead of becoming R&B rappers like today's rappers. I personally liked Lil Wayne until Carter II, which is a great album, and it's also mainstream and sold alot. Then after that he started rapping for what sounded like to appeal to women, and that's your queue to leave as a fan.

Looking at these two statements, who is the overhyped fighter here? BTW, try watching more than one fight before making a thread saying a guy isn't that good. Lara is a pretty good fighter, and actually has proven more at 154 against better competition than Alvarez.
Never said he wasn't that good but hes not the second coming of Jesus he's a good fighter I swore I coulda said that.

People are complaining about Lara being overhyped?
I haven't really seen much of it here, people giving props here and there.... there are a lot of people being overhyped on this site..... *cough* Canelo *cough*

The only person who's being hyped to that degree is Canelo.
The most legit opponent he fought was Ryan Rhodes.... and he's more of a domestic fighter than world class.

Lara has a problem that Canelo can exploit. One is that he tends to lean on the rope and stay there. Lara is suspect of that left hook. And Canelo punches much harder than Hernandez. That being said, I think Lara's hand speed, timing and quickness will probably edge Canelo. Lara is definitely beatable but it's hard to look good against.

I don't listen to these artists. Not because they're popular but because they're garbage IMO. My point is you got people who will automatically hate or criticize somebody or something just because it's popular. It's true for music, films and it's also true for boxing. When you watch somebody fight in the main event on a major network while the commentators are praising him you're more likely to think "This joker is a superstar? He ain't shit" than if you were watching the same guy on an undercard in a small event. Few people can ignore the fame, hype or lack thereof and judge a fighter objectively.

why does anyone get hype? it's all about marketing. lara and bundrage can barely get on tv while canelo fights complete bums. here's an example of how things are rigged in favor of the "it" guys.

cotto beat the number 7 ranked fighter according to ring magazine and he vaulted up to number 3. canelo beat mathew hatton and number 4 ranked rhodes and vaulted up to number 2. while this was happening Bundrage beat the number 2 ranked fighter according to ring magazine and he vaulted up to only number 9? he then beat the number 5 ranked fighter and only moved up one spot, and he's also beaten the current wbo champ yet he's still only number 8. makes no sense.
