I agree that Lara is probably the most legit opponent available for Sep 15th. I hope that fight is made but i doubt it.
This coming from a guy that has Cotto as his avi! Lmfao! The same Cotto that always fights for vacant belts? Hahaha

No he said that if he was going to fight injured, he needed more money to do it. You have either Selective hearing or reading, your choice.

Not to mention there are about 100 million Mexicans and 10 million Cubans most of which live in a country without access to HBO or anyway of getting those fights. Lara also only has 18 pro fights, sure he had a great amateur career but the only way you make fans is by going pro. Cubans and a lot of fighters need to learn how to market themselves, I hate Broner but at least he'll be known as a wannabe Mayweather. At least he'll be known, that's what counts fighting 30+ times before you even start to make yourself a blip on the radar like Bradley and Martinez is "earning it." If they knew how to sell themselves they wouldn't have had to "earn it all" in the ring. It's not just a sport it's a business.
That really long paragraph almost makes it seem like you do not know that golden boy is in fact Lara's promoter.

lol this is the type of **** im talking about. Cotto has a solid resume and has fought the best who gives a **** about belts and how he won them? Are we really comparing what Canelo has accomplished in the sport to what Cotto has because they both have won a bs vacant title?

i think you'd be surprised to find that the money canelo would pull in fighting a no hoper isnt much worse than it is against a guy like cotto. he can fight three cans a year. maybe four. a cotto fight takes many months to promote. more than they've got if they want to keep canelo's current PPV date. i dont think that fight is feasible at this stage, or GBP would have gotten it moving.

sure, the overall purse would be much bigger, but he's probably going to have to split it down the middle or even take less than cotto. cotto's also a hell of a boxer. horribly underrated. if he were faster and had reflexes and timing like he did in his prime he'd be even better. the man has craft

i think he could outbox canelo at this stage

down the line it's a fight that i think we will see. i think in 2013 we'll see it. PR day parade night or cinco de mayo. big PPV. big numbers. i'm thinking around 750-1million buyers at 55 or 60 bucks.
now they'd probably do half of that.

when he fights a can he can take almost everything, and of course he's got next no zero chance of losing.
Let's assume he loses to whoever is lined up to fight him next. He gains more a loss to Cotto (money and respect) than a W against a contender. Let's say it's Molina who has next and Canelo takes a convincing L or gets a controversial decision, his stock will drop and Molina's will rise. Lara's stock will rise a little too because of their close fight. The playing field becomes a lot more leveled if Canelo ****s up in his next fight.

If GB can't make a Cotto fight happen, then he can fight in Sept. and then Kirkland in December.

I'll put some points on Molina if he's the next opponent. Sooner or later, somebody is gonna come along and spoil GB's plans for Canelo.

the funny thing is, canelo, who supposedly is the stronger puncher between the two, looked very similar against a shot shane mosey. i dont see how ppl are complaining.

Looking at these two statements, who is the overhyped fighter here? BTW, try watching more than one fight before making a thread saying a guy isn't that good. Lara is a pretty good fighter, and actually has proven more at 154 against better competition than Alvarez.
This whole mutha****in quote is on point. Bo-J strikes again!!!!!!!!

Is everyone forgetting about Canelo's scrap with Cotto's older brother(the naturally smaller guy in that fight)? I recall Canelo struggling with him in the begining. Canelo the same guy who was being outboxed by Alfonso Gomez. But folks wanna talk about Lara/Molina?

I think folks should back up off Lara a bit. The guy is very good. And Im still not sold on Canelo after these last 3 years.

Mosley hasn't been stopped after fighting the best fighters in the world, Mayweather,Margarito,Cotto , Vargas, Winky , Pacquiao, De la hoya, Mayorga, Forrest etc

Hernandez had just gotten knocked out in 1 round by a C level welterweight.

                      Horrible comparison
