Look. Canelo is a beltholder and has been given the title of the next great mega-star in boxing. In order to live up to that title, he needs to beat the best fighters at 154.

Right now, Lara is one of the best fighters at 154. That's not overrating or overhyping him. It's a fact.

he hit freddie cold with a shot that he never saw coming

the freddie hernandez that fought lara would beat current shane mosley. i have little doubt of that. he'd outwork him
Besides wasn't the Berto fight stopped rather prematurely??

the kid has talent and skills. no doubt about it. we'll see how far he goes. the hate for him is unfounded and troubling.
i dont like the direction that the boxing fanbase is taking

once again, i'm lightly contemplaing leaving bscene

i left after my first few months. came back and posted only in the history section, and then NSB got a lot better. racked up about 5-6 k posts in nsb.
now it's reverting back to a forum i wont post in often.

I see where your coming from with the amount of nonsense and hate that is posted on this board.

With Alvarez, people just don't understand how fighters are moved along. Canelo will be alright and I see him improving in every fight. Both the Lara and Kirkland fights will happen, and I see Alvarez beating both.

Chavez Jr. also recieved alot of hate, but what people saw was at the end of the day he beat alot of good fighters and if he beats Martinez, haters will be hard press to come up with ways to flame. I see a similar scenario after Alvarez beat Kirkland and Lara.

BTW I'm not even close to being an Alvarez fan, but the kid is legit and has a huge future in the sport if he stays focus and dedicated to the sport.
I'm a big fan of Canelo and always defend him. I favor him against Chavez Jr, Cotto, Ortiz, Kirkland, K9. But Lara is a different story and that's why GBP is keeping him away from Canelo for as long as possible. With all of these guys falling through for Canelo's Sept 15th opponent, you would think maybe Lara would've been in the running but he's not being mentioned at all. It's like he doesn't even exist.

Fighters who are underrated by the mainstream boxing public always get overrated by hardcore fans and vice versa. If Lara was a cash cow he would receive much more criticism on boxing forums. It's a knee-jerk reaction, like people who start hating on a music artist when he get really popular and then pride themselves on listening to artists you never heard of.

And what makes you think that fight won't happen? Of course it isn't happening 9-15 as GBP was looking at trying to capitalize of Mexican Independence weekend, and a Mexican vs unknown Cuban fighter makes no sense. Still that doesn't mean the fight won't happen soon. I dislike like Oscar and Schaefer but if there are is anyone in the sport more willing to put their young fighters in tough fights, it's those guys.

Chavez Jr didn't beat a lot of good fighters. He beat Rubio and Lee which are decent fighters. Zbik is whack. Let's not start exaggerating resumes now. Molina did beat Chavez Jr, but nobody talks about that.

Solid fact & sound logic here.

"Well if the situations were reversed", such & such would happen.

How is GBP keeping Alvarez away from Lara?

Up until the last few months, no one even cared for this fight. This fight will definitely happen, but what I don't understand is that if it doesn't happen when you guys want it or right when fighter B calls out fighter A, it's automatically a duck or a promotional company keeping that fighter away from the other.

To me that is ridiculous and it's really bothersome that more and more boxing fans are starting to adopt this mentality. No disrespect to you as I'm just speaking in general, but this is a trend that I'm starting to notice amongst boxing fans.
