I answered that I don't think that Bute necessarily has a clear "best opponent". He has a bunch of solid wins, a bunch of padding and is now the best qualified 168'er of all the 168er's that Ward hasn't yet fought/beaten.

Does'nt mean that Bute was not in the SS that he is no good.
He is a very good boxer,power,fast,move, undefeated, and also has the other major title.
Only for those reason , if Ward wants to be the best, he now has to beat Bute. Otherwise i dont it will never be clear.

Re-answering Stones Questions That Were Already Answered.

He doesn't need to have one defining opponent, and his single best win is debatable. Bute is the best qualified of all the guys whom Ward hasn't already fought/beaten.

Anyway, back to it. If you read the thread like I asked, you wouldn't ask the same questions because like I said last night, I already answered them:

Dirrel bros, Bute, Kessler, Froch, B-hop, Cloud and others need to fight other fights first before being considered for a shot at Ward.

Let's look at your next set of questions that you needed clarification for that I already provided.

But why should Bute be discredited for beating Froch, BTW? Who else is there for Bute to fight to gain the legitimacy needed in your eyes? Cloud? Why Cloud, a LHW? What is this reaching bull****?

And tell me how Froch is now suddenly more spent than he was a week ago before he fought Ward? I guess Froch must already have been washed-up when he fought Ward, then.

Before you came in this thread on page 15 and start trolling and trying to turn my words around, if you would've "read" what I said about Froch and Bute like I asked, you would've seen the below posts and been able to debate me on a realistic level instead of adolescent one.

Regarding Froch and why Cloud would be a better opponent at the moment:

Tomatoes, tomotoes.... You think Froch is fine coming off a loss, while I beg to differ. We'll just have to subjectively disagree.

But another point that you've missed about Froch is he's just been in the SS for the past 2 years and has fought P4P one of the toughest schedules for the last few years. You want to throw him right in there with Bute with no break? Come on man, let Bute fight Hopkins or Cloud. Forget that going up in weight stuff.

I agree that fighters lose and it's perfectly normal. I'm not saying that because a fighter lost then they should be considered a bum; nor am I saying that fighters can't bounce back after losses. I just don't think they're at their best against top competition after a loss. I know you think otherwise, but hey.

Once again, Froch has been fighting the toughest competition for the last 2 years, while Bute's schedule hasn't been remotely close to that.

If Bute beats Froch, do you think it's fair to count his win over Froch considering the the circumstances (i.e 2 years in SS) or would a Cloud/Hopkins win hold more weight?

So fighting Froch coming off a loss after Froch has fought one of the toughest schedules in the past 2 years (i.e SS tourny) makes it better?

What's wrong with Cloud? If he'll fight Hopkins at a cw, why can't he do the same with Cloud?

PS: I can see how some can use the "old man" excuse against B-hop, but the same can be said about Froch who's possibly shop worn after the tourny. This is why a rough undefeated, solid fighter in Cloud is the best thing right now. Bute and Cloud were already negotiating, they should just finish what they started.

I can see how some can discredit a Hopkins victory, but the way I see it, they can discredit a Froch victory as well.

I don't think anyone can discredit a Cloud victory. Especially if he beats him impressively.

I'm just trying to save us some time and excuses. If Bute selects the right opponent the first time around, we as fans and Ward can somewhat acknowledge his resume as being better.

It's just something about fighters that are coming off losses that I don't like. Regardless if Froch was in a war with Ward or not. When fighters are coming off losses, I think it does something to them mentally. Not all the time, but the majority of time in the history of boxing, I think when a fighter fights high opposition in his next fight after coming off a loss, they're just not the same.

Regarding Bute's Resume:

Bute fights more "names" than actual solid fighters "at the time"....

One can look at Bute's record and say wow, he beat Miranda, Mendy, Johnson and a few other guys, but not realize that he beat Johnson and Mendy (basically) coming off losses and Miranda wasn't even a shadow of what he use to be.

My problem with Bute is not "who" he fights, but the "timing" he fights these guys. I don't think it has anything to do with styles.

Put it this way and ask yourself this question. Name some times when Bute's next opponent was announced and you were on the edge of your seat in suspense (i.e "I can't wait for this fight with Bute vs Fighter A, this should be a good one"). ?

That's the thing with Bute. I never get that "I can't wait for this fight to happen" feeling when Bute's opponents are announced. I always get the "Seriously, this guy?", type of feeling. You know what I'm talking about.

Here's why I feel the way I do:

1. Mendy - was beaten by Bika in the 1st round before Bika bailed him out. "In the first round"! Bute then fights Mendy while he's basically coming off a loss.

2. Johnson - He's an example of another fighter coming off a loss (i.e Froch). Bute fights him right after the loss.

3. McGee - Big time Brian McGee!!! Whoopty due!

I've already expressed how I feel about guys beating fighters that are coming off of losses. Bute has been great at that in his last 2 out of 3 fights.

I actually think Bute is a good fighter based on his medium competition so far. But fact of the matter is he needs to fight a live body. Not someone KO'd or coming off a loss.
